Assisted Living Communities in Camp Hill, PA

"I toured Celebration Villa of Dillsburg. I was very impressed with the friendliness, the cleanliness, and just the overall appearance of the place. They seemed like they had a really nice program. They had six levels of care. I felt that if my husband worked out there, that might be a place where he could progress if needed. He needs help with feeding, toileting, and bathing, and they seemed to be fine with that. The single rooms were very lovely. I think I can live in one if I had to. Everybody looked very happy. I had a very good feeling about it. They seemed very comfortable. It had a club-like feeling. It didn't have that nursing home feel or smell. Everybody has their own rooms and they do two-hour checks on them at night. No matter what their needs are, they do that. I just felt like he would be very safe there, and very cared for. They've actually reached out to me twice and offered meals or anything else we might need in the meantime. I just got a really good feeling for the place. The one thing I really liked about this place is I asked the staff how much time I would need to give them when I would need a respite, and he said 48 hours. There were people sitting outside, and I even met some of the people that work there, and they were very friendly and nice."

"I toured Oak Hill Village. It was very nice. They didn't have a one-bedroom or a studio apartment. My sister would only have been able to get a one-bedroom place, but it was more money than what she could afford. The staff who gave the tour was very nice though. They're very good people."

"We visited Harmony At Hershey. It was okay, but it's a multistory building where you have to use an elevator, and the hallways were pretty long. Additionally, the number of seniors it housed was a little too high for us. The rooms were very beautiful. It's a little more expensive, and they have a lot of a la carte extras. You pay more for each thing, whereas other places include laundry and cleaning services. The amenities are very nice. They have hair salons, a movie theater, outdoor space, and other nice features. They also have a game room, which is a bit larger than the ones at other places. Lisa was very knowledgeable, and it's a newer building."

"I've been on a couple of tours at Traditions of Hershey, and their menus are nice. If you don't like what they have, they have alternate menus. They have an exercise room. They don't have as many amenities as the other facilities. They don't have a pool or anything like that inside, but it's a nice community in the building. They have activities that you can go to, even if you're not a resident in the buildings. It was Mother's Day, and they had bingo, and there were a lot of people there. They had tea with cookies and little sandwiches and stuff like that. They have a bar there, and on Fridays, they have their social type of thing there. They have an area for a library. Up on the third floor, they have a theater that shows movies on Fridays, a pool table, a shuffleboard table, and one of those indoor hatchet-throwing things, and it's Styrofoam. It's not real axe throwing or anything like that, but they have tables set up for puzzles and games and a poker table. It's just a nice setup."

"My wife is a resident of Paramount Senior Living at Lancaster County Paramount. The people that take care of her really like all the patients that they have. They are very friendly. The place is a really nice place, but it's too far away from us. It's the same food that they give you in the hospital. The food is okay. The facility is very clean. They have guess-that-tune and another one is religious activities. They take them out for tours around the area. They had quite a few activities. The room is pretty good size and the layout is okay, too. The atmosphere is okay."

"I visited Autumn House West in York to see their assisted living. I'm already very familiar with the facility. A few years ago, I used to be there every week doing communions for the residents. I talked with a lady in the office who also interviewed me and was impressed with the facility and its offerings. The staff is very nice and always right on top of everything. I find the facility very clean."

"I visited Autumn House East. The gentleman was very helpful and very nice, but they don't do long-term care like my relative needs. He needs full care. He needs a Hoyer lift and two people, getting in and out of bed and the bathroom, and they don't do that. They're just assisted living. The residents there were walking with walkers or needing help with walking, but it seemed like they were in pretty good shape. It's very friendly. The gentleman knows people living there by the first name and says hi to them. Nothing like what my brother-in-law is in now. It's very clean. I wouldn't be afraid to stay there if I had to. I know other people that were there, and that's how I can sort of rate it pretty good. They were residents until they got too bad, they had to go to a nursing home."

"I toured Juniper Village at Mount Joy. It's a feeling when you go in, everything looks clean and neat and very accommodating. The only negative would have been the cost, the location, and the room arrangement. It was with a couple and we're looking for a suite and they couldn't do that. I was looking for two living spaces and they could only offer a suite in assisted living. The staff was great."

"Amoroso Wellness at York was a nice place. It felt more like a nice place you would want to live and visit. It wasn't depressing at all. We talked to some of the people that live there, and they told us how much they liked it. The food was good. Their outside area was nice. They have patios and a walking area. You could push your walker around on it and get exercise. They have a balcony-patio thing that's big. It's like a coffee shop kind of place. None of the rooms that we saw had any cooking appliances. Some had a balcony, and they were the more expensive ones. They weren't tiny rooms and they had nice furniture in there. The staff who took us around was very knowledgeable about any questions that we asked her. She was able to answer them, and she didn't seem pushy but very friendly. People as we went around knew her. They were saying hi to her and stuff. The building was well maintained. It didn't stink. Everything looked clean and organized. There was nice furniture everywhere, even in the common sitting areas."

"I toured Celebration Villa of York. I like that it's smaller. It's probably like a one-on-one or two-to-one ratio, I like that it's nice and small. Jennifer was excellent. I thought it was clean. It was nice. For me and my mom, it's a thing of money, to get a studio it was like $5500, so that's kind of a little expensive. The staff was very knowledgeable, very nice, and answered all of our questions."

"My mother-in-law moved into Senior Commons at Powder Mill. We chose it for a couple of factors, the first is proximity to her home, it's within five miles of her house, and the second one is the amenities, the staff, and how caring they seem to be and how friendly they were. Everybody that I've met has been great. They've been very helpful to us. They've been very helpful to my mother-in-law. They're attentive. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff. They've got an activity room where there are things like puzzles, and cards with the other residents. There's one room that has a little shuffleboard game, a basketball game, and things like that. But then they also do outings. So today my mother-in-law is going on a nature outing that the facility is doing."

"My father-in-law has moved into Linden Village Senior Living Community. Everybody is friendly there. It's close to where we live, so that's a plus. They are very helpful. My father-in-law's room has a bed and dressers. If you want a TV, you have to provide your own, which is fine. They provide soap, towels, sheets, and all the linens and stuff. The staff members are very nice and very helpful. They gave us a calendar for the whole month of July and all the activities that are going on. They have a big courtyard so they can go out. They have an awning out on the porch."

"We can't say enough about Celebration Villas. The care the staff shows is real. They really make you feel like your at home, not institutionalized. Great activities which family members are invited to participate in if they'd like. Our family member went from being at a place where he was inactive and zombie- like, to where he dances, plays bingo, went along to a baseball game they arranged and more. He also tells me the food is great! Most important is that he is happy. So glad he's there. Grateful thank you to the entire staff"

"Victorian Villa was an excellent facility. It was about an hour from my home. It seemed professional but yet home like. The people were extremely friendly. I could sense a secure atmosphere, and I would recommend anyone to visit if they were looking for a personal care home as opposed to a larger facility. The rooms were spacious. The facilities were excellent and well maintained. They had an elevator for residents who needed walkers or scooters. They had exceptional cognitive activities which I really liked. "
