I must leave this review. My dear friend was admitted into spring Creek- she's been there for a matter of weeks, I've also been there before but this time was different, there was a light there and her name was Tiffany, as I've visited before on the South 1 building, there was a smiling face, a happiness that greeted me and others as we entered the unit. A pleasant hello and how are you were exchanged. It made me feel good as a visitor and that I had never gotten this type of treatment before, most of the time I was ignored or not even acknowledged. I asked if she was new or agency she stated that she was a new staff member employed by Spring Creek and that this was her first day,I asked her if she was working with my friend she kindly pulled out a paper and searched for the name and kindly said no, I'm sorry but ill be very happy to help you with her, I was astonished. Most of the time I get a reply of "thats not my patient, or I don't know" but never "I'll be happy to help you" that was so kind and generous, as we walked down the hall she just smiled and made light conversation, was a very pleasant young lady, enthusiastic to help .she helped me with my friend and was on her way, she offered to help again if needed, said her goodbyes and stated that she hopes we have a wonderful day. I was so a happy to have met her I told Tiffany welcome! and that this type of personality and attitude were much needed at this place. Tiffany jumped to the chance to help, with no hesitation. Thats the type of care givers I like to see taking care of my friends and family. If my friend wasn't on her hallway and she treated us with so much respect, I can imagine how wonderful she's treated her patients.

Stay far away from this place. It is horrendous. They do not give medications on time. They are supposed to have a special diet for diabetics and they do not. A meal for a diabetic consists of mac & cheese, rice and corn. How is that a healthy meal for a diabetic. They lose patients' clothes. They do not haveany doctors on-site. The patients do not get better, they get worse. They have very few nurses on-site. It is run mostly by aides.

My mom is in Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She is not happy there. The people are fairly nice, but she has had some negative interactions with one or two members of the staff and I believe that staff was let go. That was kind of a bad experience, but for the most part, the staff is nice. I don't know if they're understaffed, but there have been many times when she wasn't able to get out of bed herself and she had soiled herself. She would lay in bed for hours before someone would come in and change her, so that was a big issue. I would rate the facility about a five or six out of ten on cleanliness. One of my mother's biggest issues is with the food services. They get like a little menu to pick what meals they want for the day, but she says on a daily basis, it is incorrect, so she doesn't get the meals that she ordered and she is very dissatisfied with the food. She describes it as pretty much awful and doesn't eat a lot of it, so she has to spend what little money she has remaining from her Social Security. She goes to the vending machines and gets food, then my brother and I bring her groceries. She has a grocery list for us and we spend between $50 and $75 every time we go visit her, bringing her food. Her room is on the smaller side, especially when the resident is in a wheelchair, which she is. I don't have a ton of other places to compare it with, but I just know when we're in there, you kind of have to step out of the way for her to be able to maneuver around. I guess they get cleaned frequently, but usually, when I go in, I have wipes and other things that I clean up little things on the floor and the bathroom and stuff like that. The smell isn't great. A lot of places are understaffed, not just nursing homes, so on one hand, I am sympathetic to it, but on the other hand, it's where they live. It's not just the store or restaurant they're visiting. They should try and hire more people and make cleanliness, sanitary type issues, and food a priority and just have more programs and things for the residents to do. It was shut down for so long because of COVID that they couldn't even have visitors and that was so, so sad for them. Now that things are back open, it would be nice for them to have a little bit more to do in there. There are not a ton of planned activities or events or things like that.

My father is in Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was in the hospital and that's where the hospital found the place for him to go. My father seems to be adjusting. He did have an accident in the fall, but he's okay. He's eating well and everything, so he's okay. He's in the nursing home, he's in the locked facility because he wonders. So far, everybody on the staff has been friendly. They've been helpful. If we need something, they take care of it. I didn't try the food, but a couple of times my father said it's bad but other than that, he still eats it. They could also do a little bit better on their facilities. They have a calendar of activities, but I don't know how much my father participated in them. I don't know what they do with him as far as those things are concerned because he's in a locked facility. They accept Medicaid. We were able to get help with Medicaid for that.

This place was completely horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. My mother was iat Springcreek in Harrisburg Pa for approximately 2 months in 2018. I doubt it has changed much, during that time it was rated the 4th worst nursing home in PA. I did see last year that they had some of the worst Covid numbers in the state. During that time, I accidentally had to see a resident getting cleaned off in the bathroom that was in the common area where the residents eat. They were cleaning this woman who soiled herself but left the door completely open. My god let these residents have some dignity. I had witness several times residents who were wheelchaired bound trying to get attention of staff to assist them to the restroom without success. I remember one time I personally told staff one of the residents needed to use the restroom. It literally took 20 plus minutes until a staff member came in to assist. There were times I visited and my mother was sitting in the common area without her dentures or glasses. When I asked where they were, I was told in her room. I then questioned how did she manage to eat her breakfast without her dentures. Of course, it was someone else’s fault. Basically the day consisted of bringing everyone into the common area. I don’t believe in those 60 days I visited I ever saw any activities being done with the residents. The TV was their daily stimulation. In the first couple of weeks, they lost my mothers glasses. She was wheelchair bound. Eventually they agreed to pay for the glasses. They said they had an in-house eye doctor. Several times I would ask about her appointment and was told it was in the works. 2 days before, I removed her from the facility, they took her to the eye doctor. They knew we were leaving so I wasn’t even sure why they even made the appointment. I wasn’t there for the appointment so I didn’t even know there was an appointment. I didn’t get any report or prescription for her glasses. However I did get a bill about a month later for $125. Needless to say, I told them what they could do with that bill. They never paid for her glasses either. Apparently they did the same thing with a dental appointment that they made. I showed up for a visit and she wasn’t there. I was told she was at her dental appointment. When she returned she didn’t have her dentures. It turns out her dentures were in her room so she didn’t have them for the dentist to see. Again I didn’t get any type of report but I did receive another bill for $100 plus dollars. For these appointments, Staff made it sound as if it is covered, it isn’t. Then there was the time I went to visit and noticed my mom’s one leg was looking swollen. I let staff know about it and was told me they would keep an eye on it. By day 3 here leg was extremely swollen and had a sores on it. I requested to speak to the Head Nurse. I believe her name was Rosey, she had a Jamaican accent. She agreed that it needed looked at by the doctor. She had cellulitis and needed antibiotics. If it wasn’t for me who knows how long it would have gone without being treated. Then there was the time we were concerned that she may have a UTI, we were once lied to that a U Test was ordered, it wasn’t. Finally after 3 days, she was tested. It came back positive. She actually had to use 2 different antibiotic to clear it. Again,, not sure what happens when residents don’t have advocates. As far as Rosie, my girlfriend and I caught her in several lies. We actually reported her to the DON. I remember I told my priest that my mother was in Springcreek. And he asked which building the left on or the right one. This may be where you hear some mixed reviews. When I told him she was in the left building, he said it’s not a very good place. He said the other building is so much better. I can’t say if it is or isn’t, I was in there once and the first thing you notice is that it doesn’t smell. I could continue but I made my point. Don’t get me wrong, there were some staff members who did care but there seemed to be more that just didn’t care. I’m sure they don’t pay well and they are understaffed. My girlfriend and I were there everyday to observe and voice our concerns. I feel so bad for the residents there that don’t have an advocate. I did find another facility and so thankful that I did. It was night and day. Just stay away from there if you care about your loved one.

My mom was a patient here. The communication from the staff and administration was pretty much non-existent. We would try to reach someone to find out how my mom was doing and we could never get anyone to respond. The receptionist never answered the main number. The number for the nurses station would ring and ring but no one would answer and the social worker assigned to my mom never called us back or responded to emails. When it came time for my mom to be discharged spring creek did not give an accurate assessment of my moms condition and less than 24 hours after being discharged my mom was back in the hospital in worse condition than she went into spring creek. What was suppose to be a short turn rehab at spring creek to get my mom back on her feet became a major set back in my moms progress. And we had limited access to be able to speak directly with my mom. Even though we had asked repeatedly for help from anyone who would listen that we wanted to speak to our mom no one would help. Finally after a week and a half of not being able to contact my mom we finally were able to have a phone call with her. But the phone calls during her entire stay were very few. We felt like we were being kept from communicating with my mom.

They must be very very understaffed. I was unable to contact my mother for days We took her personal cell phone to her and they would not help her keep it charged They provided a cell phone that did not get a signal in her room. I tried to call the front dark and the nurses station many times with either no answer or someone said they will help but do not No visitors because of covid and rarely any help contacting my Mom, On Friday after hours we were told that we could set up a zoom meeting on Monday I have talked to my Mom in days and now have to wait until Monday They must be understaffed if 90% of the time no one is available to talk to us and help my Mom talk to us

My mother was in the facility for over three weeks, the customer service was very poor. The Director nor the Nurse and the staff was of any help. My family and I still have not got any response back from no one, at all. My mother was not given the therapy she was there for, and during her discharge her right arm was swollen. I suggest any family that is looking into this facility for there loved ones to re think. This is not the place for you also during the Pandemic there was no mask given to my Mom. No activities given my mom did not enjoy her stay at all, and the whole staff need to be retrained or replaced.

The food is often not palatable, cold, burnt, greasy, overly spiced and often not what was ordered. Patients often lay in soiled diapers up to 12 hours. The patients are subjected to snide remarks which is totally unacceptable. I cannot believe these residents through no fault if their own are subjected to this care.

my sister was in Dementia ward. staff were MEAN to her and down right HORRIBLE and I suspect physical with several (one time a nurse SCREAMED at a patient because he had soiled himself AGAIN then she slammed the door. A friend in McBride Building. Elevators reek!! food is GROSS!!!!!! Most of staff are wonderful but as in all occupations some should choose another profession. Unfortunately people with just Social Security are forced to stay here.

My sister-in-law was a resident at the facility, after suffering a stroke, for physical therapy. As a family member, I wasn't sure what to expect after she arrived. The social worker offered to help with things like her insurance. Of course we took her up on her offer since it was her job. I was greatly disappointed, as she was absolutely no help at all. We could have accomplished more on our own and much faster. My sister in law was discharged, still with no insurance, after being there for 3 months. She did however, have a great therapist.

My wife is in Spring Creek Rehab. It's an old, not attractive environment, but the people, the nurses, and staff are excellent and pretty much compensate for the lack of beauty of the facility. The food is not great, but my wife does not have a problem with it. The environment could be better. They have some music programs, and physical therapy

My mom was on the Memory Care Floor. The staff on this floor is AMAZING! Not only did they take care of my mom, they cared about her. They would pick out outfits for her and hang them on hangars daily for her so it was easy for her to get dressed. They would comb her hair and encourage her to take part in activities. While visiting her, I would see the care that they provided to the other residents. I felt secure knowing that she was not only being cared for, but they loved her as well.

A close friend is currently in the LTC facility. Everytime I go to see her her hair is not combed and she smells of BM. My most recent visit was the worst since she had stool caked in all of her fingernails of her right hand. This is called "digging" and the staff is to keep these residents clean.

IF YOU HAVE OTHER FACILITY OPTIONS, WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU CONSIDER THOSE!! My father was resident for several months after a fall last May. While there were some who gave him good care, he did not receive proper physical therapy and developed bed sores that eventually led to multiple additional surgeries. Eventually he had to be hospitalized to treat infection from the sores and was moved out of this facility for his own good. Sadly, he died Dec 27. Our family is left to wonder 'what if' he had received the proper care he needed somewhere else. If this facility is your only option for care, someone MUST be an advocate for the patient...DO NOT DEPEND ON ANYONE AT SPRINGCREEK TO DO IT!!

Spring Creek would have been the most affordable. I thought they were doing a good job and everything was fine. However, I felt like their patients in their dementia unit were not high functioning patients. It had a more of a nursing home atmosphere as opposed to a home like atmosphere. The director and I agreed that my mother was not in a position where that would be the most beneficial place for her. We felt like she was too high functioning for that place. If they needed what they provide, they qualified and they don’t have the income, I would absolutely recommend Spring Creek.

i want to inform people that we had a family member at spring creek the food is horrible. back in sept 2012, there were roaches all over the food cart. .there were so many that staff was killing them as they were crawling on the floor and walls. this was not the first time. we complained multiple times regarding food and nothing changed. our family member lost weight and we took her out of facility, she gained weight. we feels she was getting worse and worse there. also mice are bad there too. its sad for the residents who cant leave there .dont take your family there.

We visited the facility in early 2012, seeking a home for my grandfather. We took a tour of the facility and we were impressed. The only issue we had was with a resident who told us they treated them poorly, but she also said the sky was falling so we took it with a grain of salt. The staff were very caring, loving and answered all of our questions very quickly. While we ended up not using the facility due to my grandfather passing away, we would have placed him there as soon as the paperwork came back.

If you have another choice, do not send anyone to Spring Creek. If you have no other choice, then check on person regularly, clean their room and bedding, speak up and keep nagging staff if something is wrong. Not a clean place and staff seemed indifferent"¦..

My husband spent 6 months there, their physical rehab, did great things with him. Lots of progress made. The social service end of it was not as good, they did not listen to my voice. He had gastric bypass 3 months prior, they tried to put him back on the beginning diet. I had to have at least 4 meetings to finally get them where he needed to be. I told them, he was not right, please have a doctor to come look at him, they fail to do that, and later found when he was back in the hospital, he was over medicated (as he was losing weight, they did not adjust meds). If you have a family member there, you need to be visiting often, staff is overworked.

Spring Creek is a large rehab and skilled nursing center in Harrisburg PA. It was formerly the Dauphin County Nursing Home. It is clean, and modern in design. the staff is friendly but like many so places they are overworked. Personal items went missing, and at one point my mentally-competent relative was scheduled to be move to the Dementia Ward for no reason and I had to fight the management until they realized the mistake. Still, I found Spring Creek to be better than average in terms of how patients and families are treated. If a family member needs rehab or nursing care would recommend that you visit Spring Creek and consider it.
