"My father-in-law moved to Renaissance Home Forks in Easton. He is there for assisted living. The manager I've been dealing with has been very helpful and informative. We've met most of the people who work there, too, and everyone seems very nice. We have no issues or complaints. He had to go with a shared room because of cost, so there's one other gentleman in his room. He has a bed, a dresser, a nightstand, a chair, and, of course, a bathroom there. We've been in the dining area when they've been eating, and it seems very nice. They usually have a different menu every day, so that's pretty nice, too. There's also plenty of parking there."

"We have our name on a wait list at Chestnut Ridge at Rodale. We were welcomed. It was nice that we ran into people that we already knew. They have a lovely pool. One of the biggest positives about Chestnut Ridge is that everything is in one building. You don't have to go outside to eat or anything like that. There are many outdoor activities, like walking paths. You can walk into town on a nice path. They have gardens. We're not going to go into anything less than 1200 square feet, so they were all around 1400 square feet. It has an open concept, and nearly every room has a balcony. No problem with parking. If you want to be undercover, you'd have to pay extra for that. We did eat lunch there, and that was great. It's a fairly new facility. Compared to some of the others who have really established procedures and all that, Chestnut Ridge came across like a new facility, with people kind of learning their jobs and that kind of thing."

"My mom moved into The Palmerton. We liked that it was smaller, so it was more personalized care. They're very nice people, very accommodating, and they are working with us to try to figure out all the different nuances of the care that my mother needs. They've done a phenomenal job of meeting her and trying to draw her out to come and join the community and meet other people. They've been very, very nice. The size of my mom's room is wonderful. We were able to bring in a love seat, several end tables, and other things, as well as pictures. We were able to personalize the room. The maintenance supervisor was amazing as far as helping us get the materials we needed and setting up the room so that it was comfortable and more likely to be familiar to my mother. The dining area people were very, very nice. They were very concerned about getting to know what would work for my mom. She had some special needs as far as vision and things like that. And they wanted to be able to work with her on that. They placed her at a table with other women who would be able to communicate and draw my mom out, and were very accommodating because my mother's boyfriend was coming up to visit her and was having dinner with her, so he could join the table and be able to spend time with my mom. They had discussions, bingo, outings, social gatherings, and outside discussions. They have people who come in and work with the residents. It's a large Pennsylvania Dutch area, and they're having an activity that talks about Pennsylvania Dutch history and involves the residents in that."

"Hudson Estates Gracious Retirement Living was nice. I got literature and stuff. They only have like one- and two-bedroom. They said that once they get it cleaned up, that place will go. All of the amenities and all of the offerings that they have sound and look great. We got to speak to one of the people that lived there, and they said it was a wonderful place to be. I think it would be good for my father to be amongst the people with all the activities that they offer. It was a couple who assisted me and they were very great in answering questions and asking me if I had additional questions, which I didn't at the time. They gave me a nice packet to take and they also offered, since my dad did not go with me, us to come back and have lunch with them so we could taste the food because she swears by their meal plan. They did give me a giveaway, and it had a mug and a muffin. They had a garden and a wonderful dining room. They had several laundry facilities on each floor. They have a fitness center, a movie theater, and games places. They have a conference room type thing that they offer to the people that live there. They can have up to ten people have dinner in there and they serve you."

"The people at St. Mary Center For Rehabilitation & Healthcare were wonderful, very helpful, very knowledgeable, very professional, very amiable, personable, and very concerned that I learned what I would need to know to see if my father would be comfortable. The rooms were wonderful. Each room has its own mailbox. The studio was not too small. I thought it was the perfect size for my dad. They have a nice bathroom, nice storage, and you get your own door out into the courtyard. There's a couch there, and it's gorgeous. Their campus is like 22 acres, and they have various courtyards and barbecue areas, things that come alive a little more in the late spring and summer. They have their own little cement patios in each unit, so they can sit out and watch the birds, get some fresh air, and see what the neighbors are up to. It was just an upbeat place. They got a salon. It just seems like you wouldn't have to go anywhere if you were there. It's a very neat dining setup where it looks like a diner. I would love to go there every day. They have three squares and snacks, but they have a setup where they have like napkins, ketchup and mustard, and salt and pepper. It's very user-friendly."

"I found Kirkland Village encouraging. They have a wonderful health program. They have a pool and a wonderful exercise facility. I think those were key things that I would look forward to. They have multiple dining areas from informal to formal, and I got a chance to experience two of them, and they were lovely. The staff was knowledgeable. Surprisingly, the first time I visited, we didn't have an appointment. My wife and I just walked in and bumped into a couple who were residents there and they were going to take us to the sales office. Then one of them said, "Let me take you on a tour." Then she took us on a lovely tour of the whole facility and invited us back to their apartment. So, that was the first tour, it was with a resident and it was great. When we went back a second time, we had the staff, and they did a really good job as well."

"We toured the Moravian Village of Bethlehem. It was not right in town, but close enough to town. And Bethlehem is a beautiful town. The room was very nice, and they had storage for things in your apartment. And the person that gave us the tour was very pleasant. The way it was set up, the rooms are on two floors, and they had a lot of nice common areas where people would get together. They had two places, some of them are little individual houses, and some of them were in the main building. The little houses were nice because you had a garage and you also had a basement where you could store your things, which I thought was very nice. The rooms in the main building had nice balconies and the way they were set up you get a lot of light in the apartment. They had a lot of physical activities and they had people that specialize in doing things with people with arthritis and so on. They also have a lot of physical activities that help keep people healthy. When we went there, some people were meeting in the library and were having a discussion or something in a book club or something. I think it was in their library. I think they also had a pool class going on in there. The dining area looked very pleasant and some people were setting it up. I didn't taste the food, but it looked like they were enjoying it and they had a lot of available choices. It is expensive, though. The staff went to a lot of trouble to answer our questions. We got to see what the rooms looked like. And I think they were very efficient with their tours and were very thorough. It seemed that they had a lot of good things on the menu."

"I'm moving into Country Meadows of Bethlehem. It was very clean. The people were very nice and the price was right. The staff were very friendly, very supportive, and very nice. The building was very good. It's very clean and very sturdy. The atmosphere was very friendly. The people were very nice and friendly. It was a nice atmosphere. The tables were all set up maybe a couple of feet apart in the dining area. There are maybe 20 tables. I'm going to have a studio apartment there with a room and a bathroom. It's a very good size."

"My sister-in-law is at Saucon Valley Manor. There's plenty of living space. They have a good-sized bathroom facility. There are activities and programs. The facility is clean. They have a beauty parlor, a physical therapy room, a place for worship get-togethers, and a dining area."

"We visited the Traditions of America at Green Pond and we had a similar experience with its sister community that we also toured. They had the same kinds of facilities. Its environment in the city is important to us. I think that we shouldn't be paying more than $6000 for a 3-bedroom house, and that includes all premiums and all upgrades. They had a swimming pool, yoga room, gym, meeting rooms, and so forth. They also had a clubhouse."

"My visit to West Turner Residences was very insightful. I got a lot of information from the person selling the apartment. She gave me a letter about the residents, and about the overall history of the building. The apartment itself was large and spacious. They have their own laundry room down in the basement. Everything was nice and clean, and one thing that caught my eye is that each floor had a walk-out deck where you can go out and have coffee or just sit and relax with a nice lounge chair. The deck outside of the apartment building was a nice feature where you can go out on the deck and just enjoy a really nice warm day. All the residents can be nice and pleasant. That was the best senior apartment that I've seen within the Allentown, Bethlehem area. The community was good as it was close to all these shops and restaurants, and people were saying it was good for the sports events and stuff, which I like. The marketplace was right there; on a nice day, it's a nice walking distance. It was comfortable, and there's a park that is like two or three blocks over from the building. So, everything was really close, really convenient, and nice. They're building a new apartment complex on the other end, and I know recently they built another one right across from each other. That area is very nice, especially for a lot of young people. She showed me a 1- and 2-bedroom apartment. The 2-bedroom was an exception because it had a big foyer. When you come to the entrance door, it was beautiful. The appliances were all- electric and had a nice quality carpet. It's a nice large apartment where you can spread things out; everything is not tight. It was probably the best senior apartment I've seen; it's impressive. I just think at that time, my income was slightly over what the expectations were, but I think now, it might be right where they wanted it. I can't get in touch with anybody and can't get an application. So, that's one problem. It's a nice place, especially for myself; someplace that's safe and secure, and that's what I'm looking for. It's your apartment, you do your grocery shopping and that's about it. It was exactly what I wanted in an apartment. The layout was good; it was very clean. The parking was ample right in front of the building; I'm not sure if it's the same, but there was a lot of parking."

"My mom has been at Emeritus for about three weeks now. The facility is beautiful, and the staff is great. The food, from what I understand from my mom who is a cook herself, is not good. She has a really nice private room that's very big and came with a bed, a recliner, and a night table. There isn’t anything I didn’t like about the place. The person in charge is great and very knowledgeable. I like the fact that they knock on the residents’ doors if something is happening, like special movies being shown or if they’re going to play a game. They’re taking care of all my mom’s needs. "
