"I have been in Manorcare for eight months now. The staff is very well, very knowledgeable, very friendly, and very helpful. I am very grateful to everybody. They have an excellent therapy. They are very professional and everything. The whole building is very clean. The food is good. I have not been to any of the activities, but they have an entertainment room and craft room. "

"The Williamsport Home had two different areas. One was almost like an efficiency apartment, but they kept the stove turned off and had a refrigerator and a microwave. Another section was just rooms and the nursing staff was closer by. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable."

"Roseview Manor was clean and nice. They had nice big rooms, two rooms that are enough for us. They provide three meals a day, and I like the setup of the dining area. I think it’s a nice, small place, and I will recommend this to others. "

"My dad is in Willow View Personal Care. It has been very good. I have been up there several times. The place is clean. The food is decent. He has been there probably two months now. He is in a semi-private room. They have a few different lounge areas with TVs. His food is provided. The nurses provide medication. He is allowed to leave the facility for local trips or if family members want to take him out. "

"Wolf Run Village has nice rooms. My father has a private room. It has a sink, a microwave, a refrigerator and his own bathroom. It is very clean. It's a brand new one and it's close. The staff is good. They care, they go out of their way to do things. They have something all the time. They have bingo. "

"My aunt moved into Nippenose Valley Village a month ago. The rooms are beautiful, she has one of the best there. Some of the rooms in their interior have no outside windows. We know the main person there, she really takes good care of her people, I have no complaints with the staff, they're doing really good. We've asked her if she's eating good, and she says yeah she loves everything. They've renovated, it's beautiful, when you first walk in, there's a big waterfall there, and there's like a little man-made pond with fish, It's a beautiful environment. They've kept part of the gym, half of it they made into a dining room, they kept the other half, and a lot of the residents go out there and throw basketballs around and get a little exercise around. I would definitely recommend them."

"My father is in Rockwell Retirement Center. The rooms are beautiful. It is an old school house, which they redid. The rooms are in very good size. The staff is very much accommodating. My father does not go down for activities. He is on ten liters of oxygen, and he just cannot do it, but they offer a lot of activities. He likes the food. The dining area is very nice. I recommend them. Rockwell is the best: 100%. "

"My mom moved into RiverWoods Senior Living Community. It is a very nice facility with multi-level units of care. The staff is wonderful. They have restaurants, crafts, and different things going on. It's in the same town where I live, so it's very convenient. I can visit my mother regularly. My mother is quite happy with the food. Their meds are delivered every day. There's a nurse there. My mom lives in a single room. The cost for my mom's level is really good and very affordable. They are a terrific facility. We're very happy."

"We moved my father and brother in to Independent Living together and their duplex unit couldn't be more perfect. It was all remodeled and has everything they need. Within three months, our father had a stroke and was moved in to the Rehab facility where he declined rapidly and sadly, passed away there. I can't say enough about the excellent care he received there and the support offered our family. My brother remains in the cottage attending classes and events. He has a disability so is well supported with maintenance, etc. We are so glad we chose this community."

"This is the cleanist Long Term Care facility I have ever been in! Everywhere I look I see a housekeeper. Pleasant, friendly environment. Staff are neatly dressed and professional. Management is very friendly and welcoming. The Therapy Department is impressive with simulation areas (a bedroom,handicapped bathroom, and kitchen area). There is also a small store to buy snacks, cards, etc in the lobby. It is refreshing (to say the least) to see the pride the staff has for this home and their residents! "

"I have my father in Fulmer's Personal Care Home. It's a nice place, they're pretty decent, and he's content there. A little issue was he thought he should get his coffee in the morning, but they told him that they go by routine. That was it; it's just his little peeves -- he just wanted his coffee right away. It's a nice facility. He liked it when I took him in for the first orientation. I feel like they're pretty good; I'm sure it's going to work for him. The staff seems good, too. There were a couple who, when I talked to them, seemed to be having a bad day. They're not mean, and they don't ignore you, but you can just tell from their voice that it's maybe one of their off days. Overall, all of the other ones are polite and pleasant. I don't know any of their names yet, but he told me they've all been polite with him. He's had good outcomes with all of them, like with the doctor who comes in and the beautician who comes in to cut his hair. I've seen a couple of his meals. I've been there different times they were served, and it smelled really good. The first day he was in, he had meat, mash potatoes, corn, and a cupcake, and it looked and smelled good. He even told me they had pizza some nights, and it was really good. He's quite content with his food. They do different activities. In summer they go outside with the staff, they cook on the grill, and they have little picnics. They do different games when they get together, book clubs, and puzzles. He doesn't participate in a whole lot of them because he's a loner. He kind of doesn't get into those kinds of things. The price is excellent for everything that's included and the services. I just got my first bill, and with all the services he already has, the haircut and different things done, the price did not change so that's good."

"Mother was at Emmanuel Center for about a month, and it was better, nicer, cleaner, and safer. The staff was better than average. I guess, she is in the beginnings of dementia. Her issue is that she would think that people didn’t take care of her in a timely manner, but we as her family thought that they were much better. I just admire the work that they tried to do with the patients. "

Sherwood Retirement and Personal Care Home is a "private pay" home established in 1999 by owners and administrators Jim and Karen Sherwood, who reside in the home as well. Initially we had one wing, our East wing and later in 2003 we expanded our home to include a West wing to give us a total of 24 private /semi-private bedrooms. This expansion also included a formal dining room, sitting room, parlor, living room, family room and additional laundry space. We maintain a commercial well and septic system for the personal care home and we are currently licensed for 27 residents. We are situated on 38 acres of land 1.9 miles East of the red light on Route 414 in Canton, Pa. Our facility is all ground floor access and living, has spacious flat maintained grounds, many patios, wide sidewalks and sits a good ways back away from the main highway.
