I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I only gave 1 star because I couldn't give 0. If you love your family, don't send them here. My grandmother had a stroke back in September and was placed here, as it was the only place with an opening. The day after my grandmother was placed here, there was a Covid outbreak among the nurses and no visitors were allowed, understandably, a day before the quarantine was up, there were more positive cases and they had to close down for another 2 weeks. When visitors were finally allowed, you had to call to set up a 30 minute visit, my mom called, set up her visit, the day before her scheduled visit, they called and said they made a mistake and her visit was scheduled for one day before quarantine was up and now all the other slots were filled, so she had to make the appointment another week + out. Now going on 6 weeks since she went in and hasn't been able to see anyone or leave her room. We finally see her and she's lost TONS of weight, is so unhappy, crying the whole time, saying the food is awful, the staff is rough with her, she's visibly dirty and has sticky residue on her from the hospital stay, 6 weeks ago. The rest of her time just gets worse, she ended up with pneumonia, barely recovers before getting covid and then gets pneumonia again. She fell out of bed countless times. Her room was dirty every time we went, soiled clothes balled up and shoved in corners, her clothes lost. One time we went and she was in soiled clothes and her bed was soiled, we had to tell the staff. She moved to a new room and the previous person's clothes were still in the room that the staff thought was hers. The last time I got to visit, there was a giant white teddy bear, that wasn't hers, with dried vomit all over it and her hospice paper work dried to it thrown on her nightstand. My mom showed the nurse, who laughed and said "I guess I need to take that to the wash" and left the room without the bear. Sadly my grandmother passed the next day, when my mom went to get her belongings, there was a bunch of clothes that weren't my grandmothers in the bag, and that damn white teddy bear, still covered in dried vomit. Absolutely disgusting, unsanitary, unprofessional and inexcusable. That last day we went, she was moaning in pain upon our arrival, her nurse, standing right outside her room was unphased and we had to ask her to come give her pain meds, she was at the point of just being kept comfortable. It felt like every time my mom went, she had to bring something to someone's attention in order for anything to be done. Her roommates were loud and irritable, sadly due to dementia, which drove her crazy. I truly believe being here killed her. Her mental and physical state completely deteriorated in less than 5 months. She went from well functioning and living alone at home, to gone from this world in 4 1/2 months. She cried day and night there. I know the stroke did not help, but I really think if she had been somewhere else, with proper care, she would still be with us. My mom spent her mother's last few months on earth fighting to get her into a better facility, closer to us, instead of being able to be fully present with her. I know staffing is hard right now, but it got to the point of it being an issue of people getting proper care. My mother said one time she went, another patient was calling down the hall for a nurse because she had to use the bathroom, the whole time she was there, a nurse never came to help her, she couldn't even find anyone to help her. My grandmother spent her last months miserable, sick and alone because Covid kept preventing us from seeing her. It's an unfortunate time to have a loved one in nursing home care, but the experience here made it a thousand times worse than it would have been somewhere else.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My grandmother is a current resident of Rose View Court. She has been a resident since 2005. The staff is always very curteous and kind, towards both all the residents and visitors. They have activities everyday for the residents. Everything from bingo every Monday afternnoon to a bus to mass Sunday morning. There is also a doctors office in the building. The reason I only give Rose View Court a 3 out of 5 is because my grandmother has a few gripes. These include taking a month for her new leg stockings for reducing the chances of a clot. She was very angry about this and complained to the staff. The next time she needed new stockings it took about 3 weeks for her to get a new pair. This has been about the usual response time to this request for about a year. Also, I have eaten there countless number of times and the food for dinner is okay. The food for lunch isn't good. Lunch also has very small portions. Too small for me anyways.
