"I toured Barnes Place yesterday with my younger brother, and I think that's going to be our route. There were a lot of positive points. The nurse who showed us around was very friendly. The different staff members that we ran into while we toured the building were extremely nice. The rooms that she showed us were clean. The place was clean. The cafeteria looked lovely. They have two different courtyards, and both are lovely. It's just a matter of paperwork to get my brother there. The reason I chose them is because I work here in Latrobe, and it was convenient that I could run up during my lunch hour and see him there, so that was my biggest draw to that place. The nurse said the food was wonderful and that they all ate it. It's a great place. I think it would be a wonderful place to place a loved one and feel confident that they were being taken care of. It looked like a resort, too."

"My mom is now at Brookdale Latrobe. When we went there to look at it, it was very clean, and very well-lit. The people there were very helpful and very forthright in explaining what everything was going to happen with my mom. I didn't meet much of the staff. I met the director and the lady who was the marketer. She was our first contact. They were very good. The food was very good. They have a lot of activities for my mom to do. She broke her hip and she needs to be able to get up and go. I don't know if they have a gym, but they have a lot of activities in the morning, then between breakfast and lunch, and then between lunch and dinner. They have more activities that they get people out and they get them together and meet and greet and things like that."

"The atmosphere in Juniper Village at Monroeville was very home-like. The director was extremely knowledgeable and the services they provided would be everything that my parents would need. My father liked it a lot. The biggest problem we're finding is availability. The facility was very clean. It was recently renovated, so it looks new. The rooms were nice. They were a nice size. There was lots of light through windows and things like that."

"St. Andrew's was a very nice facility. As a matter of fact, I was wanting my husband to take my mother-in-law there before he decided to take her down to where she is now. The area was very nice. They had nice facilities. They had a lot of activities for their residents as well. It was a very clean place, and they seemed very nice as well. It was beautiful. They had different levels of care, and they had a specific Alzheimer's unit. The staff was friendly. I had other people telling me that they had family there, and they were taken excellent care of. One of the reasons why I was looking into that home was because of several different people telling they had relatives there. They had a salon. For those who had Alzheimer's and could not feed themselves, they had a separate place for them to come and eat, then somebody assisted them when they were eating. "

"We checked at Moorehead Place. What we liked the most was the staff. The staff was professional, friendly, and interactive. They seemed to be motivated to care. The general appearance of the place was great. The place was clean. It was designed to provide assisted living services to seniors, and it looked like they were accomplishing that. They looked really good. Their first impression was terrific. It's a place that you would want to check out for your family."

"Loyalhanna Senior Suites & Personal Care is a very nice place. Mom is in personal care. Her room's huge and has a very big bathroom. When you go down the halls, you're almost like at a hotel. Their dining area is really big and friendly, and they have a sitting area where it looks like you could pull up and have a cocktail if you wanted. They have a movie theater on their fourth floor and a library. They have four floors and they have different things on each floor. Just like any place, they're understaffed, but the girls that are there are very nice. It's clean and very nice. It doesn't smell. Their rooms are big. She has a bed, a recliner, kitchenette, little fridge, cabinets, a sink, TV, big closet, and a big bathroom. The layout is pretty nice and spacious. She likes it. There are days the food's not great. The dining area is real big and open. There's a fireplace in there. They always have it decorated and what I really like about it is they have a staff that comes around, almost like you're at a restaurant and they'll tell you what they're having for the day. If you don't care for that, they have other options that you can pick. There's something going on every day. They have bingo and crafts. I think they had some kind of little golf thing going on the other day. They have ice cream socials and milkshake socials. They have happy hours. I'm trying to get my father in over there too and the pricing they gave me was a little bit cheaper than what they wanted for two people up at the other place and there's so much more offered here at Loyalhanna."

"At Latrobe Care Center, they give very personal attention to their more than twenty-eight residents. Every resident is watch and observe. They are given the attention all day long every day and that's why we like them. They have people who come in to play the piano, sing and entertain and they have bingo on Saturday afternoon. They also have a big screen television. The food is okay. My dad is happy there and I will recommend them to others. "

"Wonderful, caring, kind, compassionate staff. Every staff member I’ve talked with have been super helpful. This is a clean facility as well. You won’t find staff standing around talking with each other because they are always working. Whenever I have asked for help with my aunt I’ve been met with a positive response and attitude. I can’t say enough good things about this facility. Thank you Laurelwood for taking such good care of my auntie!!"

"My mother moved into Kelly's II Personal Care Home. It's small, there are only 8 residents there. The staff is very good, and there are 2 of them 24/7. The room is just like how it would be your bedroom at home, it's very nice. The food is all home-cooked. It's out in the country but it's only 10 minutes from my house. It looks like a house. They do puzzles, play cards, and crocheting."

"The Lutheran Home at Johnstown is very nice, very clean, and the staff is very helpful. My dad has a one-bedroom unit with a bath and it's very decently spacious. My dad enjoys the food. The facility is very well kept. They have Bible studies, get-togethers like ice cream socials or a family picnic, crafts, and exercise in the morning. It's just what I would expect from them for that price."

"My brother was in Westmont Woods (Presbyterian Home of Greater Johnstown) for therapy, but it was too expensive for him to go into assisted living. It's a beautiful, nice, and modern-looking building. They had so much staff, and the rooms were small and felt cramped. They treated him well, but I wasn't really happy with it. Communication was very poor, and the staff was just too busy. They had a lot of help, but none of them could spend too much time with him because they were filled to capacity with patients. "

"We were impressed with The Atrium. It really was a nice place. The staff members were very nice. They were wonderful. When we visited the residents were having their lunch time, so we didn't see many activities. We heard from the staff member that gave us the tour that they have daily activities. Overall, we don't have any issue with regard to the place. At the top level (AKA the third level), they have skylights, which my aunt really likes. They have good lounging area, which is a nice plus. The room was a pretty good size for one person. It had a nice layout. We talked to one of the staff members there and she was very nice."

"Dad went here for respite care two years ago. The facility was fantastic. The care given to my father during his stay was excellent. They were attentive to his needs. It was a one- bedroom with a private bathroom. My dad thought the food was delicious. I know they had daily activities, but I honestly don't remember what they were. I know that they had fitness activities. They had entertainers come in, card games, and board games."

"My mom has been in The Villa since February. It's very, very nice and we are very happy with it. They have activities that she participates in and the meals are very balanced and good. She's happy with it. The room is quite large and she's able to have a bed and her love seat there. It also has another chair and a table so it's very comfortable. I don't live in the same town, so I'm not there to get every detail about their activities but I was talking to my mother and she said that she goes to all of them. They have exercise classes, bingo, and crafts, and she's pleased with them. Comparing them to other places in this location, it's less expensive but very nice. One of the reasons that we chose it and we liked it a lot is that there are only 35 units and it's not connected with a nursing home, which could be quite large if it's a nursing home and assisted living. This facility is just assisted living."
