"I find the Church of the Brethen home to be a clean facility with limited staff. The staff at times is overwhelmed by the amount of total care patients. If you are a resident that is able to take care of your own personnel needs and you require limited assistance from the nursing staff, this would be an excellent facility to reside in. "

"Wonderful, caring, kind, compassionate staff. Every staff member I’ve talked with have been super helpful. This is a clean facility as well. You won’t find staff standing around talking with each other because they are always working. Whenever I have asked for help with my aunt I’ve been met with a positive response and attitude. I can’t say enough good things about this facility. Thank you Laurelwood for taking such good care of my auntie!!"

"The rooms were clean and she was happy with the way the staff treated her. Given healthy snacks and great meals. Had lunch with her on many occasions there. "

"This facility seems very nice from the outside and as soon as you walk in, but after you're there for a few minutes, the real scene unfolds. The staff doesn't come to the need of residents right away but are instead sitting down at a table chatting together, when they do answer the call bells most are not pleasant: yelling, attitudes, mocking residents, being rough. Aside from the unfriendly staff, the facility itself was dirty; dust at least 3 inches thick on ceiling fans that were blowing, scattering dust around, dirty tables, food on floor and tables. We got to meet with the owner of the facility, along with 2 other facilities. He has a crude sense of humor and doesn't seem to get to know the residents on a personal level which to me is a key priority to owning/operating a long time care facility to make the rest of their lives enjoyable. I would never put a family member of my own in this facility, and am glad I don't have to go back! "

"The people in Bethlehem Home was good and friendly. The room wasn't that great. I just didn't like the setup. However, it's a nice place and they had nice waiting rooms everywhere. They focus more on the care that's needed. "

"My visit to Siemons was nice, and the people are helpful. It’s an older home, but a couple of friends have people there that really liked it. I went through it because it was almost in our backyard. The dining room is a nice setup, although you can tell some of the things are dated. "

"My friend was at Patriot, A Choice Community for just a 10-day rehab. Their food was good. Their care was adequate. Their physical therapy department was phenomenal. It had three floors. The first floor was rehab. The second floor was more of a personal care home. The third floor was skilled nursing. My friend's room was OK. It was generic and institutional like."

"My father was a resident here 3 years. He recently passed. The facility is small but that is a good thing. His care was great. The staff was like his extended family. I can't say enough good things about the Activity director and her staff. They keep the residents busy and engaged with many varied activities. The nursing and aide staff were great"

"I ended up in Latrobe for a leg injury for four weeks. They had Alzheimer's/dementia care there. There were very few nights where I was uncomfortable at all. It was OK, and that is why I would consider it for my mom. It’s just a little bit too restrictive and older but clean. "

"St. Andrew's was a very nice facility. As a matter of fact, I was wanting my husband to take my mother-in-law there before he decided to take her down to where she is now. The area was very nice. They had nice facilities. They had a lot of activities for their residents as well. It was a very clean place, and they seemed very nice as well. It was beautiful. They had different levels of care, and they had a specific Alzheimer's unit. The staff was friendly. I had other people telling me that they had family there, and they were taken excellent care of. One of the reasons why I was looking into that home was because of several different people telling they had relatives there. They had a salon. For those who had Alzheimer's and could not feed themselves, they had a separate place for them to come and eat, then somebody assisted them when they were eating. "

"For all of you that are at the most difficult time in your life, when you realize you just can't give your parent the care he needs and you now most make that very sad decision...where! My sister and I traveled that path not long ago and after a lot of tears and stress, we decided to place Dad at the Hollidaysburg VS Home. This past year has been so very stressful, especially with Covid! I cannot be more happy with these wonderful people! They were one of the first to close their doors to family and friends (which at that time, disappointed me). Because of their policies, many lives were saved! During this time, I have come to love and respect each and every person I have come into contact with...from the guards who greet you at the gate with a smile and directions, to the fine young ladies in the office who go out of their way to make dreams come true (they allowed us to spend a little time with Dad to celebrate his 99th birthday), to the staff who take care of my Dad! The activities ladies are absolutely amazing! These ladies will come in, read the bible to Dad (who loves that), laugh at his jokes (even though most times he can't finish them because his train of thought just isn't always there, they even dance with him (while in the wheelchair)! The nurses are so caring and they seem to take time and patience with him. They all treat Dad with respect. Some have commented he's like their grandfather! I HAVE NOTHING BUT RESPECT AND ADMIRATION FOR HOLLIDAYSBURG VETERAN'S HOME! THEY ARE PEOPLE WITH COMPASSION AND TRUE GRIT!"

"We will not be moving my father-in-law from Haida Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center because it's just too convenient for the family. They give us medical attention, as well as the personal care. They're very caring towards their patients. They do what's necessary for their well-being. They keep the family informed. The physical condition of the facility is good. There are places where they allow the people to sit with their loved ones. My father-in-law has been in both semiprivate and private rooms. The rooms are nice, and they can bring in whatever they need to for his care. He is not able to do activities. I know they have activities there. We were looking into them at the beginning, but he went downhill so quick. He's not able to do any activities. They're taking good care of my father-in-law. With everything, there is always room for improvement; everything I have seen has been up-to-date. The staff members have been keeping us updated. Any time my husband called with questions, they either answer him right then or get back to him within an hour. The staff is good too."

"My husband is in Meadow View Nursing Center now. They're wonderful over there. Any little thing happens or whatever, they call me. Right now, during COVID, it's very difficult trying to see them, but they make it to where we can see them for 15 minutes a day. They bring them down in a room and we can see them for 15 minutes, which is nice. I think a lot of nursing homes are doing that now because we couldn't see them at all. We weren't even allowed in the building. The staff is wonderful there. They are all really nice and fantastic. I got to know them now pretty good because they're the same ones. I just can't say enough about the staff. My husband seems to like the food because they tell me that he eats everything they bring him, lunch and dinner. I haven't been over while he was eating, but they tell me. He eats all his meals and they say he eats everything, so evidently it must be good. We have three nursing homes around where I live and I picked them just because my daughter's husband's grandparents were there, and I got to experience that because we went over there before COVID. We visitd all the time and just watched them with the staff. The floor is an all Alzheimer's patients' floor. I picked that because I saw firsthand how it was."
