"Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park had a very nice room layout. They were roomy and we kind of liked where the kitchen was in relation to the rest of it. It seemed to be very good. The two people that showed us around gave us a very nice tour. They spent a lot of time with us. It was very clean and nicely decorated."

"We placed my parents at Deer Meadows and are very pleased with it. It seems like a good place. The grounds are OK but not picturesque because it is right on the Boulevard; however, the people who live there seem to be happy. There are lots of aides and staff members available. The place is very clean and very nice. The bedrooms are too small and there are very few closets. However, there is a large kitchen area, a living area, and one-and-a-half bathrooms, which is nice. The price is good for what they're offering."

"We visited Commonwealth Senior Living at Willow Grove. It's clean, and they have very friendly staff, but they need to disclose something very important. We had paid the down payment on it, and then we heard from someone else that you have to sign a two-year agreement. That was never mentioned. So, we went back, and their reasoning was that most people want to stay, and they want to be settled down. We said, "Yeah, but if we don't like it, we're still locked in and that is not something we want." So, we put a stop-payment on that quick and decided not to go with that. It's a beautiful facility, and the staff was nice. We were impressed with the dining area. They use cloth napkins and cloth table covers. You look out on a small lake out there with the ducks and swans. So, it was a beautiful atmosphere. They do have a greenhouse in the area, and they plant and eat their own vegetables, so that was a plus. They have activities. I rate them a four overall because of the disclosure. Also, there was a question that we asked, about the security of the patients in and out of their room, if some of them maybe mingle into another patient's room because they do have dementia. That's not unreasonable to think they may do that, but her response was, "Oh, no, that doesn't happen. We keep the doors locked." When she said that, it does ring a bell with us. You keep them locked, that's unsafe. The dementia person that's confused doesn't know how to get out of that room. She said she will get back to us about the locking process on the room. When you're the administrator, that's something you would know. We know our families won't be there every day, and just like my dad was with somebody every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it's not going to be a person that's unattended. But why should we, on a day that we will not come, be worried about how she's going to get out of that room? When we questioned her again, she said they have a key fob. They're a dementia patient, aren't they going to think about what to do with the key fob? We never really got clarity on that."

"My wife stayed at Sunrise of Abington. They were very caring and very professional. The facility was clean, there were no odors, and it was very neat. She was there for only 11 days, but she received good care. I didn't see much activity with her in it, but I noticed that they played games in the hallway and other different things."

"My Father has been a resident of Legacy Gardens for several years. The loving care and support he receives there is beyond exceptional. Every member of the staff consistently goes above and beyond what is practical and necessary to provide a safe and loving family environment. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this facility. If you are lucky enough to find an opening at this facility - you should count your lucky stars. "

"My father was at The Philadelphia Protestant Home for 10 days of respite. He loved it. It was good. The community was very nice. Everybody was very friendly. He enjoyed himself for the first two days and then he got weak. He didn't eat like he was supposed to eat which made him weak. He stayed in his room, but they brought meals for him to eat. They tried to convince him to keep eating, which he did. He just didn't have a big appetite away. My father's room was nice. He had his own bed. Everything was like 3 feet to walk away from. He has his bed and his reclining chair, which he loves. They helped him get up out of the chair, which was great. He had a little refrigerator, which he never used. The staff members were perfect. They had a nurse and an aide. And when my father would go out in the hallway to visit people, he made a lot of friends there. The price was nice for the care that my father got, the activities they had, and the food they served."

"My father will be in the memory care unit at Sunrise of Lower Makefield. We went through several care facilities, and we picked the facility that we liked the best. So out of about eight different facilities, this one was the one that checked all the boxes. It was clean. We liked the staff. The residents appeared to be happy and healthy. So those were the positives. And then the only negative is the same negative with every facility, the cost is very high. The staff all looked very pleasant and helpful. The building was in very good condition. It didn't smell. It was clean and well-kept. It didn't feel like a care facility. The entrance into the facility is into independent living and assisted living, so it felt more like a hotel than a care facility."

"My mother has been a resident in the assisted living side of this home for about 2 years. She recently had a fall, and I was notified within 30 minutes! They took her to the ER via Ambulance, and I got calls from Riverview, the EMTs during transport and then from the hospital. She is back now in the rehab side of the home, and is being treated carefully and kindly. The nursing staff is excellent, they all seem to love their work and their clients. I have gotten all concerns addressed ASAP. The location is wonderful, right on the banks of the Delaware River. I live in another state (Mom's choice not to move out of her area, where she has lived since 1955) and there are 4 basic but clean and quiet guest rooms, for only $30.00 a night. This makes my visits with mom less stressful for me, and I'm able to participate in all her activities and dine with her (for a very small fee). I would highly recommend Riverview Estates. "

"Sterling House was a good place, I was impressed. They have a homey feeling. Their rooms were good and looked comfortable. They were not really big, but for person, they were spacious. Their dining room was good too. It was small but very cozy. The staff was very nice. They seemed very competent. I talked to one of the residents and she seemed very happy and very nice. However, this facility has fairly limited activities for their residents. "

"It appeared to be safe, and it was diverse. The rooms weren't furnished, but they were nice sized. I like the amenities and the activities. They had a coffee bar. The activities that they have were like the outdoor concert, arts and crafts, and they were able to go into a patient's room to do activities if they weren't able to come out. I like the way the dining room was seated so that they could converse with one another. The staff was very accommodating and very friendly. She made sure I was able to see all the areas. She allowed me to speak to some of the staff that was there to get an overview. She explained the diversity."

"The food was amazing there and they served large portions. My grandmother gave me some of her fish and desert. The faculty there were pretty good to my grandmother and seemed nice when I was around but my grandmother said there was one nurse who wasn't particularly helpful and at one point they gave her the wrong medicine for her pain and she ended up having stomach issues. Other than that though she said the service was great and the facility looked extremely nice. Its location isn't ideal as its set on a busy street but with certain rooms facing trees its possible to get a room with a nice window out of the back with little noise pollution from the street. The biggest issue I found was that the surrounding people who lived there were rather disoriented so it made for a stressful living environment, while the faculty was nice, the other residents were often grumpy and over the top. "

"This facility is well maintained. The staff provide excellent care and attention to details and are very helpful. The meals are well-prepared and there is a variety of cuisines that provide a unique and interesting dining experience. The residents are also offered a variety of activities and events. I recomment Arbor Terrace at Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, PA as a reliable alternative when trying to decide how to provide a safe and secure living environment for your parent(s). "
