"This facility has a lot of caring people who are employed there. I have always enjoyed my visits here. The staff is friendly are there are always several activities for the residents to engage in. The room my family member is staying in is always neat and clean and if he needs anything at all they are always quick to assist him with whatever he is asking for. The food is always on time and prepared in a way that he enjoys it. The residents all are made to feel like they are part of the family. If assistance is ever needed, the staff are very quick to respond to any requests that are made. They are always activities available and plenty of social time. My favorite time of the day is early in the morning when the facility is very busy and the staff always have a smile on their faces and are willing to engage with the residents. My Uncle has been in a couple different assisted living locations and this is our favorite because of the friendly staff. "

"The Nursing home I had visited was very homie, I felt comfortable like I was at my grandparents house again. Everyone was very nice and the nurses seemed very caring and welcoming and i think that is amazing because a lot of personal care homes and even hospitals do not feel like that and the employies are that happy to be doing what they are doing, they clearly love what they are doing and they do a great job! "Live Well Estates is located in a very scenic part of Pennsylvania 30 minutes north of Indiana, PA. There is a big bay window in the dining room from which residents can view the lake and surrounding woods while eating. However, it is 30 minutes from the nearest large grocery store or hospital. My grandparents enjoyed the atmosphere; and one staff member (aide) in particular. However, there was a very high turnover rate among staff, so the staff did not care for the patients as they could have because it was just a "job" for most. The owner was not around much, but was wonderful when she was. The director was grumpy most of the time, and did not allow permission for many requests that would have been beneficial to her patients, such as when we asked if we could take my grandparents for an extended vacation of a week. (This was eventually approved, but by the owner.) "

"The rooms were very nice. I decorated my moms. The nurses were excellent at keeping my family informed of my moms condition. When we finally had to bring hospice care in, my mom had dementia, they took such good care of her to make sure she was never suffering & helped us through the process as my mom passed away. There was not a single staff member who didn’t take the time to get to know us on a first name basis, or to let us know how she was everyday. We live in DuBois but the nursing homes there would not take her. Laurelbrook Landing contacted us & took her. I don’t have one bad thing to say about anyone there. We were treated with great respect as well as my mother was. "

"My experience with Christ the King Manor was always a positive one. My family always seemed to be happy every time I visited. The most important thing for me when visiting family in a nursing home is that they are being properly cared for and that they are enjoying their time there. At Christ the King Manor, it seemed that my family always had activities to fill their days, and a lot of interaction with nurses and other residents to keep their days interesting. The nursing and healthcare staff there was pleasant and helpful, and very friendly with the residents, always treating them kindly and helping them with anything, big or small. Anything we requested or that my family members requested was always provided for us, and we never have had any issues with special requests. Overall, I would greatly recommend Christ the King Manor to anyone thinking of assisted living or nursing home needs. "

"DuBois Village was very nice. I liked everything about it, but what was holding me back was the cost of it. When I asked about the semi-private rooms which they had, they just kind of pooh- poohed them. They didn't give me much information on them. They sent me a price list and that's why I made the appointment because I was going by the semi-private prices. When I told them about my mother and the staff said, 'Well, I probably have the perfect thing.' She said that it would be a shared room with another woman. It would be a large shared room, so they would both have a lot of room. They both have the same thing, e.g., dementia. My mom is big on having a companion around her, and the other woman is the same way, so it kind of sounds like it's just the perfect situation for us. The residents were playing bingo when I was there. They have menus. They have options that they can choose daily for their meals. The place was very clean. It was very positive. Everything was included in the rent except the beauty salon, it might have been extra. They do laundry and housekeeping. They had different options. Every room had a bath and shower, but then they also had a walk-in tub, and then they have another place where you could just take the wheelchair in the shower. That's a struggle with my mom because of trying to get her in and out of the shower, so the one with the wheelchair was good."

"Bash's Personal Care Home in Commodore, Pennsylvania is an assisted living facility that feels more like a home than an institution. Nestled at the end of a country road, the residents can sit on the covered porch or look out the windows and see cattle grazing in the field and birds nesting in the trees. It is a very peaceful setting where the staff and workers treat the residents as treasured family members. Surrounded by farms, Bash's has room for approximately 40 residents. Most residents have a private room, although you may choose to share a room with a family member or friend. The rooms are small, but they are kept clean and there is ample storage for clothing and other belongings. The one down side of Bash's is that there are shared bathrooms in the main halls, which can be inconvenient for those who require a high level of assistance. I'm sure that the number of toilets meets the standard that is set by state regulators, however I think it would be nice if they could consider adding more bathrooms in the future. The facility is all on one level and the dining area and common living areas are adjacent to each other, so residents are never far from one another at any time. There are a number of activities to keep minds sharp and alert, including bingo, arts and crafts, Bible study and card games. The residents are well cared for, and for the most part, seem happy and content. The nearest town and hospital is about 15 miles away, which is also a drawback. During the winter months, bad weather can make it difficult for vehicles to make it out to the main roads or for ambulances to get in. So if you have a loved one considering a move to Bash's, think about whether they might need to have medical care on a regular basis. This family-run facility takes pride in the way it treats its guests. It is not a fancy place, but it provides clean and comfortable accommodations for those with limited resources. Since it is a bit off the beaten path, you might want to call for specific directions before you go to visit. It may be a little hard to find once you get off one of the main highways. However, once you pull into the gravel driveway, you will be welcomed home with open arms. "

"My grandmother was at this facility for several months after surgery. Overall it was a very pleasant place different from most over nursing homes. It was more like a large house than a Hospital like atmosphere. I was very impressed with the staff and the facilities available. Everyone was friendly and kind with no complaints of how things were run. I would say that the only thing worth changing is that the parking lot wasn't paved. In the winter that made things a little tough. The facility is located just out of town which made things nicer since there was plenty of room to site outside and the views were far more pleasant. My grandmother was not too happy about being there but seemed to enjoy herself during the brief stay. Honestly I can't say anything bad about the place since they are a required part the way things are. "

"Grey's Colonial Acres Personal Care Home smelled nice. They were very sweet and very nice. It was fantastic. The owner was the one who walked us through and she was very nice. Everything looked clean. They had a dining area and a sitting room, and I saw people in the hallway talking and being friendly to each other. I would highly recommend them. They had two rooms that would have been available if my brother wanted a two-bedroom place. Then they had a one-bedroom place that was going to be available as soon as they had it cleaned it. It was around the holidays, like Christmas, when we were up there. I noticed that on all the doors, they had all this wrapping paper and bows. On the bathroom door, they had a Santa Claus sitting on a commode and that caught my attention. They said they all get together and do those crafts for their doors."

"I visited Country Manor. Everybody seemed really nice and really happy. The rooms were very spacious and clean. There was a two-bedroom with a shared bathroom. There was also an efficiency with its own little kitchen set and bathroom that was all private. The dining area was more like a restaurant. They had very nice open grounds. There were some walking trails, too. I like the fact that you can come and go as you please, and that you're not like locked in there."

"We checked at Moorehead Place. What we liked the most was the staff. The staff was professional, friendly, and interactive. They seemed to be motivated to care. The general appearance of the place was great. The place was clean. It was designed to provide assisted living services to seniors, and it looked like they were accomplishing that. They looked really good. Their first impression was terrific. It's a place that you would want to check out for your family."

"St. Andrew's was a very nice facility. As a matter of fact, I was wanting my husband to take my mother-in-law there before he decided to take her down to where she is now. The area was very nice. They had nice facilities. They had a lot of activities for their residents as well. It was a very clean place, and they seemed very nice as well. It was beautiful. They had different levels of care, and they had a specific Alzheimer's unit. The staff was friendly. I had other people telling me that they had family there, and they were taken excellent care of. One of the reasons why I was looking into that home was because of several different people telling they had relatives there. They had a salon. For those who had Alzheimer's and could not feed themselves, they had a separate place for them to come and eat, then somebody assisted them when they were eating. "
