"We chose Columbia Cottage Collegeville for mom because it's a small community, and the caregiver to resident ratio is favorable. They offer a variety of activities and services, and the location was also beneficial. They had 10 levels of care from independent living all the way through to skilled nursing. It is great because she can age in place, and the staff has been amazing. They have three different sized rooms. My mom is in a 312 square foot room (which doesn't sound like much), but it is perfect for a single person. There's a full bathroom with a walk-In shower and pull cords by the bed and in the bathroom for assistance. There are three different sized rooms. They're generally on a wait list, but we happen to call them at a good time. They have one available. It's really like a big home. They have a living room, a TV area, dining room, and kitchen (which is all open for the residents to use as they like). They also have a hair salon onsite, as well as a physical therapy area. They have therapists that come in several times a week and a hairdresser that's there two days a week. They also have a nurse on-staff 24 hours a day, and they're great. If there's any medical assistance needed, they're there. They have various activities like arts and crafts, games, bingo, and movie night. They also have a vehicle, so they can do scheduled transportation to doctor's appointments. There are two courtyards inside the building, so residents can go outside and enjoy them without the risk of anybody wandering off. She likes the food so far."

"The Willow was wonderful. The host that took me around was great. It was very clean. The atmosphere was nice. I liked everything about it. The rooms were very clean. They were a little small but that's normal. I was impressed by how clean it was. It was a one-bedroom, and it was right near the dining area. For activities they were doing bingo. It was nice. It was a good atmosphere."

"I am currently staying here. They give me my pills every day. When I go away, they have my medication packed and ready with me. The people are very friendly, and the nurses know my name. The meals are good, and they give it to you hot. If you don't go down to the cafeteria, they will bring your food to your room. They have bingo. There is a priest that comes in. I am in a one-bedroom. They come in once a week and take your laundry or you can wash it yourself."

"Not enough time in a day. Recently we invited thirty for a day time activity. The event was a week away. Eighty percent of the people had conflicts and could not come. The other activities ranged from outside the building volunteering to card or board games that were plannedperiod"

"Atrium of Allentown was very up-to-date and extremely stylish. It was so nice. We're like, "Wow, I would live here." The rooms were spacious. The bathrooms were like out of a hotel. They were beautiful. Price-wise, they might have been less than the others. They were right in there in the price range that we were trying to spend, which was right around $6000 a month. We did not eat their food, but we saw their food and we saw their dining room, which was set up nice, and there were stations that they could go to where they have snacks and drinks put out and stuff like that. We wanted that place so bad that they went and did a second assessment on my dad, which I thought was super nice. They said, "Let's go back again and just check again." Unfortunately, they just couldn't take care of him. They have a big room where they do activities, and it was nice. There's a big TV up there. They had courtyards they could go into. They had a common area with a TV and seating. They had a room upstairs and it almost reminded me of a banquet room. They had an elevator, and they play games and they have movie night up there. They had a lot of activities for the people. Everything was brand new and you could just tell because all the rooms had that gray flooring. You could just tell everything's very modern. Even the lady who was helping me joked, "If you're looking for glitz and glamor, Atrium is the place.""

"The assisted living facility that we would go to would probably be Abode Care of Allentown. What we liked most was the interaction between the staff and the residents. As we were going around, the staff member who was taking us on a tour stopped and talked to the residents. She seemed to know them all by name. One of the residents, when she heard that we were looking at places for my mother, said, 'Oh, you have to come here. It's great. It's wonderful.' So the residents like it. Along the way one of the residents was having a personal crisis, so she stopped and she took care of that issue. It was the interaction between the staff and the residents that appealed to us most. It was a little bit older than some of the other facilities that we had toured, but it was clean, and it was nicely arranged. The rooms were a nice size. The staff was very knowledgeable about the facility. She interacted well with the residents. She had a very good balance of seeing our needs and seeing to the residents' needs as we toured the facility. We saw the eating area, but we were not there during mealtime. They had shower schedules, the rooms were a nice size, and the facility was well kept up and clean. "

"We visited Heather Glen in order to find a place for a family member who required Personal Care. As we entered the building, we saw an expansive lobby well lit by natural light emitting from the ceiling skylights. There were staff members about; there was music playing, we heard quite conversations and laughter. We sat in front of a lit fireplace while we waited to meet the representative for our tour. Considering all of this, our first impression was very positive, which only got better the more time we spent at Heather Glen that morning. After meeting with Donna K.., Community Relations Director, Jody G., the Director of Wellness, and taking a tour of the facility, we knew that Heather Glen would be a perfect fit for our loved one. We had an issue with time but the staff worked with us to make the move-in seamless. James, the Environmental Services Director, moved furniture within the room, hung all our pictures, installed a bracket for the TV, and replaced the refrigerator. Tim, the executive chef, came by the room to meet our family member, as did Leigh A., the Activities Director, and Aaron, the RN on duty that day. We felt welcome and very much at ease, as we were about to say good-bye to our family member. Since then, we have been extremely impressed with the way in which the staff, most especially Donna, who is extraordinary, has made every effort to help our loved one get acclimated to his new home, encouraged him to participate in the many activities HG offers during the day, and accommodate his needs. She has taken a personal interest in his him and checks in with him frequently throughout the day. We love the physical lay out of the building, the many outdoor terraces and living rooms with fireplaces that provide a homey, welcoming place to be, the exercise equipment and putting green, the dining room with the many choices for homemade meals. We couldn’t be happier with Heather Glen for our family member and offer our highest recommendation."

"My sister moved up to Phoebe Richland Community. It was very welcoming. They gave her all the physical therapy she could handle, which was great. She had physical therapy almost every day and occupational therapy almost every day when she got there. She still gets it quite frequently. The staff is very nice. She enjoys the other residents there. She says she has a wonderful time getting to know them and they're very caring also. I was there one Saturday when the director himself was helping someone move into their memory care area. He was moving the clothing and stuff in himself on a Saturday. They're just delightful. There's an exercise class of some kind every morning, wheelchair volleyball, chair, or tai-chi. There's at least one activity every morning and one or two activities every afternoon. Every day I call or when I talk to my sister, she'll say, "Oh yes, we had an exercise this morning." It's a smaller place, so they can't offer the diversity of activities that a larger facility might offer. The assisted living has a beautiful lounge area when you walk in. The dining room is lovely. You couldn't ask for anything better. I get no complaints from my sister except there's no salt, but she can bring some herself. That's for health reasons. I saw two small library reading areas, a game room, a big lounge, and a dining room. She's in a temporary room right now because there were no rooms available, so it's a little small but very nice and furnished. It has a dresser, a wardrobe, a chair, a bed, a little kitchenette, and a beautiful bathroom that's handicapped accessible. It is less expensive than others for definitely something better. Their staff is especially caring. This place is much more consistent with their staffing, which means the staff gets to know their people better."

"I got to see Eagleview Landing. They were open during my visit, but it was during the lockdown so I didn't get to see everything. The staff was excellent, the activities were all closed because of COVID, but it all sounded great."

"Echo Lake had a very small group of people, because it's so new, and they were all very lovely. We had lunch in one of the restaurant areas and there were a lot of people down there eating lunch. My husband and I were all by ourselves and everybody was very gracious. One by one, as they all finished lunch and left, they all came over and said hi. Some of them sat down to talk to us for 20 minutes. It was just a very friendly, very family feeling community. The people that took us through were very patient and very encouraging, but not at all pushy."
