Assisted Living Communities in Kunkletown, PA

"My father has moved into Bethlehem Manor. It's a pretty great place. The staff is very nice. Everybody is coordinated well, so we have no issues. If I have any issues, they usually resolve it immediately. My father is not too good with the cellphone so they Facetime me there pretty much with their Bethlehem Manor's phone, so I'm able to see my father if I'm not able to make it, which is great. It's a really good place. My father has a little studio. He has his bed set up. He has a TV wall-mounted. He has a mini-fridge. He has a wheelchair, so he can pretty much roam around there. He has windows, so he can look outside as well. So it's pretty open, and it's not like he's cramped or anything, which is great. For amenities, they have a large dining room area and an outdoor area, which is more of a patio. They have game nights and music. They have a lot of different types of activities. So my father is kept very busy."

"I toured Riverton Enhanced Senior Living. It has an open design so that you don't feel like you're in a narrow hall all the time, and it seems to be well supplied with furnishings, so nice atmosphere. The staff was a good communicator, answered all my questions, and seemed to be easy to work with."

"The Birches of Lehigh Valley is nice and new. The nurses seemed to be doing different things and interacting with the residents. They were very helpful. I saw the menus, and they looked pretty good. The facility is very clean, inside and out. They have big rooms."

"They are fabulous. It is a great place. I am so glad that we took mom there. They are very caring, she is safe and happy, and they are great people. The food is wonderful; it is all homemade."

"I'm leaning towards Phoebe Allentown. They were very, very nice, I filled up all the applications, gave them the documents they wanted. The apartments were much smaller than what I have here. They have transportation, one meal a day, socialization and activities, and in their continuing care they have assisted living down the street and nursing home. It was clean and it is maintained, there's no problem there. The staff was very wonderful."

"My mom stayed at MapleShade Meadows Senior Living on a respite. She did well there. She wasn't there that long. She had a couple of confused moments, but they took good care of her. It was good. There were always a lot of activities going on. People seemed to be happy. They were very attentive to me when I had questions. They were fully staffed, too. The food was adequate. For activities, they had chair yoga, trivia, and games."

"I love Spring Village at Pocono. I spoke with some of the residents, and they love it there. What I like about them is that they put a certain level of people on one floor, another level on another floor, and another level for the people that have dementia or whatever, and I like that. And then on the second floor is where they have people that were like my mother-in-law who need somebody to give you medication and who need help bathing and dressing and things like that. So I like the way they match people up. The people on the first floor are the ones who can walk to the dining area, which is very nice with tablecloths and plate settings. The staff showed me a room where my mother-in-law would be close to the elevator versus being down the hall, so this guy was amazing. He's wonderful. I met the girl at the desk, and she was nice, too. It's a very high rating facility. I would go there myself. You could get a single room and a shared room. And it was reasonably priced. The activities room was long and big, so you could go there and do puzzles and adult coloring. They have all that stuff there. There's a nice sitting room to watch TV. They play bingo. They make trips to the casino and to the mall. It was just a nice place. With their menu, if you didn't like what was today, you can order off another menu. For breakfast, they had scrapple and grits, and I loved that. I met the lady in the dining hall, and she was nice, too."

"I toured the memory care of Heather Glen Senior Living. It was very well maintained. A beautiful facility. The person who gave the tour was very knowledgeable and very informative. It was top-notch. It was very good. I saw the dining area and I was very happy with the setup. The attendants were there with the residents and it was very good."

"My care at Heritage Hill Assisted Living was excellent. All of my needs were fulfilled by a very caring and professional staff. They went above and beyond. I felt treated like a queen by everyone."

"Our second choice for my parents would be the Atrium of Allentown. The marketing sales team was good there. They were super helpful. It's a newer facility, so the building is nice. They have a more active memory care facility. Every time we went to visit there, there was always a large group of people doing activities together. The activities there were more robust than what was going on at the other place. They had a lot of onsite services available, too. It's a large rectangle. There's a courtyard for memory care that's accessible for residents. They have a spot where they can go. The tour experience was great. They were very accommodating. It was very good. The staff who gave the tour was great, too."

"We looked at numerous facilities before deciding upon Cornerstone for my mother's care. Many of these facilities were beautiful, but somehow cold. Cornerstone on the other hand is very homey and warm. We were able to decorate my mother's room to make it truly hers. They continue to make upgrades to the facility, but aside from the facility the staff is wonderful. They have a dedicated staff that truly cared for my mother. It is a hard decision to place a parent with dementia, but I know that I made the right one when I chose Cornerstone. "

"The Legend of Allentown provided a warm and inviting family environment. The facility was excellently maintained and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We worked with the Sales Director who was amazing- she helped our brother find a wonderful apartment and did everything possible to help us prepare for his arrival. She met with our brother in his rehab facility and spent much time helping him understand the facility and was very welcoming to him and our family. The Legend’s front desk staff and the maintenance person were tremendous in preparing his apartment for his arrival. The respect afforded the residents was very evident and was important in our choice. In our preparation for choosing Legend of Allentown, we toured many facilities in the area and none compared to the cleanliness, newness of appearance and the friendliness of staff and residents. We felt at home at the facility even before our brother was due to arrive. As we worked very closely with the Sales Director and ensured all was ready for his arrival, his admission was canceled due to multiple medical emergencies and he eventually passed away before ever going to Legend of Allentown. Our sadness over losing our brother was supported by the staff at Legend who was so kind and caring over our sadness and loss. In summary, we would recommend Legends of Allentown as an excellent facility and a loving destination for a family member and although we could not experience with our brother, our personal experience in preparing for his stay was tremendous."

"Mira Vie at Brookfield was terrific. The staff who gave the tour was terrific, too. She showed me everything she possibly could show me. They were having a live music presentation at the time, and I was looking at the group of people in there listening and watching. Most were bobbing their heads or keeping time with the music with their feet. They all seemed to be enjoying it. I got a look at the entire week's activity on the main bulletin board in the lobby, so you're able to see what's going to happen on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday, and so forth, and so it was very well organized. I looked at the dining room and it was neat and clean, too. The staff showed me a one-person room. It had all the amenities that you could need for one person, including a step-in shower with grips. They show movies every so often, and the staff said that the movie room is always open if for some reason one of the residents can't sleep, and they want to just come down and put on a movie of their choosing, they can do that. I met the chaplain over there. He seemed very nice. After we were all done with everything, the staff took me to a conference room. We sat down and we probably talked for a good 45 minutes to an hour. She answered any questions that I had and filled in any gaps she might have left out. She gave me her card and told me she was going to stay in touch with me. I felt very, very comfortable over there. And the staff that we passed, whether they were in the hall or they were going somewhere, they all said hi, smiled, nodded, or whatever. They can arrange transportation for you. You can use their medical people or they'll take you to your own doctor of choice. It just seemed to have everything."
