The Best Assisted Living Communities in Monroe County, PA

"I am a resident of Bentley Commons at Paragon Village. We felt assured. They take us to the casino a few times, just before the virus. They take us to restaurants, play cards, and different games. We have exercise and stuff here and . There are all different types of games. We recently went to Applebee's for lunch, also a Chinese restaurant. We have a salon. There's a library also. The outside is always nice. There's always flowers in the lawn. It's very clean, definitely very clean. They clean the rooms once a week. They come in with housekeeping. Maintenance is right on the grounds here. Any problems, they come and repair for you. Food is not bad; you have a choice of two entrees. If you don't want the entrees, you can have hotdogs, hamburgers, or grilled cheese sandwiches. Pricewise it's pretty good. When I checked other places, those were very expensive. You will only get one meal a day. For breakfast, they put on the counter, cereal, bagels, orange juice, and stuff like that. You have to pay for the lunch, or they take you to Shoprite or Walmart. You can buy your lunch there, bring it back, and make your own lunch. You can make your own breakfast, if you want to."

"I toured Whitehall Manor yesterday. It was very nice. The people that were there seemed happy. They smiled at us and said hello. The room seemed nice. The girl who took me on a tour wanted to show us one of the rooms that she thought a woman had decorated nicely, but the woman wasn't there, so the staff wouldn't go in without the person being there. But I think the place looked very nice. It wasn't overcrowded. It. There's a refrigerator and a microwave in the rooms. The staff who toured me was very good, very nice, very knowledgeable, and very friendly. The people were eating when we were there because our appointment was at 11, so we saw some of the people were still eating and everything looked good. The building itself was very clean."

"I toured Riverton Enhanced Senior Livington. The staff was nice, and I liked the way they showed me around. The place and dining area were nice, but if you go to work out at the gym there, the gym is too small."

"Phoebe Home is very nice. We saw the apartments, which were also very nice. We had a very nice lunch there, and the gentleman was absolutely wonderful, informative, and very friendly. They have a barber shop, beauty salon, and all sorts of activities, like bus trips to go shopping."

"My mother-in-law is a resident here. The office staff and wellness staff (in particular the woman on day shift at the front desk) are excellent and know me/us and who I am related to---they are very helpful, accomodating and caring and really work with us to provide the best possible care for her. The aides do a good job of personally caring for her too. "

"I liked it very much. I don't think there was anything that I didn't like. It was a very nice place and I was impressed with the people. So I have no problem. That was the one we went to first and it was very good. Melissa was the woman that took us on the tour and I was very impressed with her. We went to the memory care. We saw the menu and everything looked very, very nice. I wouldn't mind going there for lunch, that's for sure. We saw some of their rooms and everything looked very, very nice. They had a recreation room where the people were, and they all appeared to be very happy. The cleanliness was very good. Everything was very clean and neat."

"I was overwhelmed with the kindness the staff displayed to all the residents. I immediately felt the warmth and hospitality of the staff while taking a tour of the facility We decided to place our parents at Hillcrest and we are very pleased with the communications and quality of care my parents are receiving at Hillcrest "

"We went to Gluco Lodge Personal Care Home. I thought it was a great place. It looked very nicely put together. The rooms were pretty much everything you need, like a little studio minus the kitchen, but some of them did have a kitchenette. They're nice and clean. They have a cleaning staff. It's pretty much like a hotel for older people. I like the fact that they had bus transportation there where the seniors can go out to the town if they would like to at their convenience. If I was to choose, I think that would be the best place for my friend. It provides amenities for different levels of elderly care. They offer personal care where they would make sure you take your medicine. Also, for people who needed less, that was available for them, too. They provide the meals, and they had a nice little outdoor area with a stream in the back. All the staff there seem to be knowledgeable in what they were doing. They had a nice little setup. They were like a smaller facility. But I like that they had like two living rooms on each floor so that if one was crowded, family members could go to another one. I enjoyed the place. It was a good experience. They said that they do little activities in the cafeteria like bingo night, and they have people come in for live music, which I think is nice. The only thing that may be lacking is that not everybody wants to go out on the bus, so if they had more of like outdoor greenery that people could go out and walk around and just really enjoy the nice days when they can and not always be caught up or just sitting on the deck, that would have made it to be a 5. The facility was very clean. There was no smell when you walk through. They seemed to be on top of it."

"I called to schedule a tour and no one ever got back to me. However, I was in the area so I decided I would drop in for a tour. When I got there there was no one at all in the building. I could not find any staff. One of the residents came from upstairs and said she did not know where the staff was. The resident was very friendly however she was very disheveled looking clothes were stained her hair was all over the place. It looked like they really did not comb her hair or care for her that much. The furniture that I did see was old and faded and torn. I waited for about 10 minutes and not one time did I see a staff member. So I turned around and left."

"My mother-in-law currently resides in Walden III. This is a very nice and homey place. It is close to where we live. She has a room with her own TV. The staff seems very nice. They know everybody. They're very cooperative, attentive and friendly. They really do take care of my mother-in-law. They handle everything for her including medications, which is one of the big things for us! My mother-in-law couldn't handle her own meds and in the past, we had some couple of issues with it, so when she went there, we know that things will be better with the medication business. They also have activities for her. She would play bingo. She would join social gatherings and she is always there for coffee and cookies. She had back surgery before and since they know about her that, they'll even let her do certain amounts of Tai Chi exercise. It is really nice. She's gradually building up friendships and she is happier there. Overall, we're very pleased with this place. "

"My mom is in Wesley Enhanced Living right now. She has dementia. She starts at the second floor -- the assisted living. She has a room. They have a dining room. When her dementia gets worse, they put her downstairs on the first floor. It is clean. I am only 10 minutes away from this facility, and I like it the way it is. "

"My dad has been here for over a month. It's very clean, very warm, and inviting. It has facilities for independent living and assisted living. Their meals are excellent. Their services and their people are great. They take the residents out to eat every so often and do plenty of activities. They have two dining areas upstairs and apartments downstairs. It is in a wagon wheel shape where they have short hallways coming off the common area. There are other rooms to play cards and to watch TV."

"I have had my uncle at other Personal care homes and they couldn't match the care he gets at Getzs'. The staff keeps me informed of anything that has happened (falls, illness etc). He is so happy with the activities. The food is great and the facilities are kept in excellent condition. They go way beyond my expectations. Thank you to the Getz family!!!"
