"My mother has been a resident at Mid Valley Manor since 2011. I can attest first hand to the excellent care that she receives on a daily basis. The nursing staff is so kind, caring, supportive & attentive. The residents are treated with respect by all the employees of the facility: nursing, housekeeping and dietary. It has been a truly positive experience not just for my mom but for myself as well. Rita Thomas daughter of Margaret "

"We have found a place for my dad. He is very happy there. He is located at The Gardens of Green Ridge. I like that it is small and that there are only 42 residents. The staff is excellent. Right now, my father is sharing a room with someone, but it is not really like they have two beds in one room. There is a big dividing wall, so basically the only common area that they have is a very large bathroom and where their dressers and closets are; otherwise, it is just like having their own room. It is smaller than a private room, which he is on a waiting list for. The dining set-up is beautiful. It is very nice. There are four top tables, they get served just like in a restaurant, and they have a couple of different choices of what they could have. They also have snacks all day long. They do have a bus. They take them to doctor's appointments, to shopping trips, and to field trips on different locations. They have a craft and activities room. They have physical therapy on site, a spa, and a whirlpool. They can come into your room and do the showers, and they also have another facility for showers. Overall, they keep them very busy. The administration and everybody are wonderful there. "

"I toured Willowbrook Place. The guy there showed me different rooms, the dining area, and the community rooms where people get together. I liked the total package: the meals, the heating, that you have WIFI, the extra activities, and the way it's set up. The only thing was the room I saw had the bedroom and living room all in one. I kind of need a bedroom separate from my living room. The staff was top-notch. Everybody I talked to seemed like they knew their job. They were friendly and pleasant. They have an exercise area and an outdoor patio with chairs and tables. I liked the way it was set up."

"I got a very good vibe at Elan Gardens. They knew their residents and they seemed to care about them. It's a small facility, but overall, I think they were excellent for what they do with the residents. The rooms were decent. The one-bedroom had enough space to feel comfortable, and they were nice. If you want to pay more, they have even nicer rooms too. I was happy with it. They had a lot of amenities, and they did activities with them, like taking them out on trips. I didn't really see any of it, but they seem to offer a lot. It just looked a little older. It needs a little fresh paint to make it look a little more like a home, but other than that it was good."

"Pets are not allowed at The Pines at Clarks Summit. The staff was very professional, very friendly, very neat, and very pleasant. You can have your food brought to your room if you didn’t want to go to the dining room. They had exercise rooms, bingo, TVs in certain rooms, and an art room. I saw a two-bedroom apartment with a good-sized bathroom, a kitchen, a sink, a small refrigerator, and a microwave. They also had a big parking lot."

At Serenity Care Personal Care Community, we handle all of the responsibilities of daily living, giving our residents back their independence and freedom to once again enjoy their life. Our personal care communities are so much more than a wonderful place to call home, they are truly a place to live! Serenity Care is different than other senior living homes in so many ways. We are not a nationally owned corporation that sometimes places profit before care. Our owner was born and raised right here in NEPA and is passionate about providing our local senior population with beautiful personal care homes that enrich their life, mind, and spirit. Since day one, our owner has stood by his words in saying, "Serenity Care personal care community is where individuals come to live, not die" and our highly trained team take that literally, from the medical care we provide, to the full day of activities residents take part in, or assisting residents with their daily needs that instills dignity and pride, we are truly different from other personal care communities. Too often we hear horrible stories of someone’s loved one going into a PCH, nursing home, or a skilled rehab and they are just left in bed for extended periods of time, limited help getting washed or changed for the day, or even worse an individual left laying/sitting in their own bodily fluids. At Serenity Care, you will NEVER hear one of those horrible stories. Our highly trained staff take pride in caring for residents with many diagnoses such as dementia/forgetfulness, catheter and incontinence care, diabetics, COPD, hypertension, kidney disease, arthritis and so much more! Our team also provides medication management, and our resident care is overseen by a Director of Wellness. Serenity Care not only cares for residents with certain medical needs, but we also care for many residents that just can’t handle the daily responsibilities of living on their own such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, traversing up and down stairs, getting dressed, bathing, taking care of home repairs, etc. Through assisting residents with their activities of daily living (ADLs), residents regain happiness, motivation, and most importantly a fulfilling life. Serenity Care residents are energetic to get up in the morning and start their day without the fear of struggling to simply get dressed or figure out their medication, as our care team assists each resident with all of it. Additionally, our highly trained care givers pride themselves on ensuring that every single resident is treated with the upmost respect, dignity, and compassion just as if they were caring for their own family or loved one. Serenity Care also prides itself on creating an environment that enhances social and physical well-being for our residents. Serenity Care believes that providing daily social activities allows residents to feel connectedness, friendship, happiness, further promoting health and well-being. Serenity Care's dedicated activities team provides all day long activities such as morning stretches and exercise, news updates, bingo, card games, arts & crafts, gardening, safe outdoor walks, yoga, birthday celebrations, holiday parties, special event celebrations, live entertainment such as musicians, polka, magicians, etc. and so much more! We understand that many families start their journey into looking at personal care communities, with it being the first time they’ve had to explore these options for a loved one, a family member, or a friend. At Serenity Care, we are here to help and answer any question regardless of whether you choose Serenity Care or not. Please feel free to schedule a tour, stop in, or contact us with any questions. "Twin Cedars Senior Living was very nice. It was a smaller facility, but the distance involved was a little bit too great for utilization. The staff was very nice, the residents seemed to enjoy the staff, and the staff seemed to enjoy the residents as well. I walked through the dining area and it was very homelike. They had singalongs, outings, and it seemed to be a very social outings for the residents. They would go to 1 or 2 places every month for dining and general museum type atmospheres."

"My cousin moved in. They treat him well, he's got a clean place, and the people are nice. If I go there, they wanna talk, or if I ever wanted to. They acknowledged me when I entered the building, so it was a pleasant environment. The rooms are very clean, they're remodeling the place he's in. He has a roommate. They have an adjoining bathroom with the other floor. So far, my cousin is very happy there. He enjoys the food, he goes to the dining room three times a day. They have a nice kitchen staff, they can sit where they want to sit. They have a calendar that's set up in the hallways and every little thing is going on. But my cousin doesn't get involved in any kind of social activities. They have a room with a big TV and everything. They have a barber that comes in once a week, and you just need to make an appointment."

"My mother is in Belle Reve. It has three levels of care. Everybody is wonderful, and the residents are well cared for. Everything is clean and spotless. They offer daily activities. Everybody says the food is wonderful; they do not understand how the chef makes it so good! It is accessible to a hospital and shopping areas. I will give them a recommendation. "

"Bethany Village is very friendly, clean, organized, and smells very good. I like it, and it's very nice. The rooms are beautiful, carpeted, and very clean, with nice windows and lovely bathrooms. They have exercise, crafts, music, and nice TV rooms. They have everything there for them. The dining room is very nice, and they have three meals per day. They serve mostly fresh food, but Mom's on a special diet. I am very happy with it. "

"From what I have seen, Birch Hills Residence in Simpson, PA is everything you could want out of an assisted living facility. The most important thing to me was that our family friend was happy there. Upon visiting him, I couldn't feel better about the whole situation. My friend seems delighted by the staff and the environment, and he actually seems much happier than he was before he came to the facility. His room was very neat and clean, and he was given alot of his own space. The staff was very kind and friendly, and you could tell they cared deeply about the residents. I am very pleased with Birch Hills and I will be recommending them to anyone that is searching for a quality assisted living facility. I am so glad my friend is happy there, and I am looking forward to visiting again and eager to spend more time there with him. "

"My friend is in St. Mary’s Villa Residence. It is fantastic and has a very caring atmosphere. The staff is very accommodating and take care of her extremely well. We are very satisfied. The meals are very good, and they have a very beautiful dining room with waiters and waitresses; it’s like going out for dinner. I will tell other people to definitely go have a tour and see what they have to offer. They have a lot of different options as far as semi-private and private rooms. They have a lot of activities, like movies every night, outings, and crafts. For Saint Patrick’s Day, they had dancers and groups that came in to sing. They had a gospel group that sang for Easter and all kinds of services. They have a lot of options. "

They also have a nursing home attached to it in case the seniors need special care."

"The first thing that one notices when they enter Our Lady of Peace is Main Street, a long hallway with a high arching ceiling and a floor that mimics the colors and patterns of a cobblestone road. There is a little bistro near the entrance where anyone, including visitors, can get a bite to eat, and I found the food to be delicious and the staff to be quite friendly. A bit further down Main Street was a sizeable chapel that could comfortably seat all of the residents at once. Living units in the facility are called "households" with ten residents per household. Each woman has her own room, and each household shares a private kitchen, dining room, and lounge. Lunch is served for all residents in the main dining room, but residents in the assisted living section are responsible for breakfast and dinner, as the staff believes strongly in residents maintaining autonomy and independence in whatever ways their cognitive and physical abilities allow them. "My family's experience with the Forest City Personal Care facility was very positive. The facility is clean, the food is good, and the staff is dedicated to the residents. The staff communicates with the family well, and never hesitated to give our family member the care she needed. Any small problems that arose were always taken care of promptly, and follow up with the family was never a problem. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility, however, as with any other life decision, I would recommend you visit the faciity, interview the staff, and get references from residents or their families."

"We liked Harrison House for my sister. It seemed clean and well cared for. The clientele is what you would expect in a nursing home that is associated with a counseling center. There were people with a lot of different mental health issues. It is small, and my sister is going to have a roommate. They do have activities, and I don't have anything bad to say about it. I would say it is no better and no worse than where she is now, and it gets her into Scranton, which is gold. It is a room, not an apartment. There are beds, and you can bring your own furniture. I believe they have a desk and a chair. If you want a television in your room, you can bring it. It is your basic assisted living room, like a dorm. The person that took me around was wonderful. She was very helpful. They provide three meals a day, and they can get snacks. They can come down and get a drink whenever they want. We weren't there at mealtime. It looks like pretty basic stuff. They were having sandwiches for lunch, and they had eggs for breakfast. I forgot what they were having for dinner, but it was a cooked dinner. It was not anything bad, and there were a couple of options. They have a yard outside with picnic tables, and they use part of it for a smoking area. It is basically like a backyard that you would see next to a house."

"The staff have always been friendly. The receptionist at the front desk always greeted you, and directed you to your destination. My grandmother always said she was treated fairly, and never abused. She said the "living room" as they called it was a wonderful place to meet other residents and play board games, and watch TV. I noticed that the staff was always patient, and showed interest in getting to know their residents. From hearing stories about various things, to playing a quick game of checkers, they were always enthusiastic. An example of this is when my grandmother and I were watching TV together in the living room. She absolutely adored George Clooney and he was in this particular film, Oceans 11. The care giver took the time to sit down, and spark up a conversation about Clooney. The 10 minute conversation appeared to be the highlight of my grandmothers day. Just these little acts of kindness made this assisted living facility a wonderful thing. "
