My friend is in the Carbondale Nursing Home. Actually they've been treating her very well, even though she is not happy to be there; she is having trouble adjusting. The room is clean and neat. They have quite a few activities. They really do a pretty good job.

This nursing home is located in a suburban area in Pennsylvania, without any close neighboring buildings. On the outside, the facility is inviting, with attractive landscaping and a modern appearance. Inside, the decor is nice, but very institutional. It is usually decorated for current seasons and holidays. The building encloses a large courtyard area, and there are several common areas and a sunroom on the interior. The staff is attentive when requested and seems qualified, but does not seem to check in often without being requested. Twenty four hour nursing care is available. The hallways can become crowded with residents in wheelchairs at times. In addition to the resident rooms, the facility has large physical, occupational, and speech therapy areas. These are alright, but they have such a high throughput that sessions can seem rushed or impersonal. There are recreational programs offered, but I do not have personal information on their quality. There are also beauty parlor services available. The hallways can become crowded with residents in wheelchairs at times. The food is poor quality, according to my grandmother. There are not always alternatives available to the main dish of the day.
