The Best Nursing Home Communities in Susquehanna County, PA

"When I went to visit a member of my family at this nursing home the first things I noticed is how clean the facility was. This nursing home is updated and is very at home atmospheric. From the floors to the wall paper and the curtains I was able to tell that it is important to this facility to make their patients stay as comfortable as possible. The nurses treated my grandmother with great care and was more than attentive to her. I was able to tell there is a genuine care in the patient/employee relationship. What most surprised me was the CNA's that worked with my Grandmother. I could not have done better one on one care myself. She was very well dressed, groomed (if I may say)and very happy with the CNA's that work there. My Grandmother still boasts about the care she received while she was there and how wonderful the CNA's treated her. While she was there she received physical rehabilitation which is another plus for this nursing facility. Due to the wonderful care and attentiveness they gave to my Grandmother I was at peace knowing she was in good hands. Other things to mention was games and activities they offer the patients and the wonderful meals that even made my stomach grumble. Lets just say they looked and smelled wonderful. I was very happy and more than satisfied with this facility. Thanks Susquehanna Nursing for caring for my loved one! "

"I visited Vestal Park, which is a brand-new rehab community. The only reason we're not there is because they're full and there's no room. The place was warm and welcoming."

"I visited Elizabeth Church Manor with my son and daughter-in-law and loved it. Both of the buildings were so clean, so neat, and so welcoming. I wish I could move in there tomorrow. There were several shared rooms, but at 82, I don’t want to share a room with anyone. They were all clean, spacious, and neat. I kept asking my son, “Have you filled the application yet? Have you heard anything?” because if I had my way, I’d be there this minute. The staff was very nice, but I didn’t have that much contact because we went there and took a tour on a Sunday. The people I saw were very nice. There was a chapel, which impressed me, and, as far as I know, it was available for people to go in anytime of the day. I do a lot of needlework and there was a whole room set up with large tables not too far from the room that I hope I will be getting. I was very impressed. "

"Was a patient there twice this year for short term rehab. The staff was friendly, helpful and very professional. My room was clean and well maintained. I wouldn't hesitate to go there again. Staff was constantly asking if there was something that they could help me with. I was treated in a dignified manner and my privacy was respected. There was a library available as well as daily word puzzle sheets. A list of available activities was posted in my room. PT and OT staff provided daily therapy. There were alternative meals available if I didn't like what was offered on the main menu. The dietician visited me to ensure that my meal requirements would be meant."

"Vestal Rehabilitation and Nursing Center was terrible. They called me every other day and told me I had to move my mom. They pressured me and that was uncomfortable. The social worker was horrible, she told me I had to stay with my mother everyday if I could not transfer her. They really put me through a traumatizing period of time. I also thought they were short-staffed and they did not handled things very well. I was so angry that they mistreated my mom. "

"Wayne Woodlands was a very beautiful facility, but they just didn't feel that my mom needed their kind of care. It was a very nice and clean facility, but as far as care, I have no clue, because we never got there. We spoke to the admitting person twice and took the tour with him, and we spoke to a couple of the nurses, and everybody seemed very friendly. They just didn't feel that my mom needed their kind of care. But it was very nice, and I would have been very happy to have my mom there. It was very clean, very presentable, everything looked nice, and the staff seemed friendly, but as far as care or diet, I could not judge. "

"A relative is a patient there and the care has been really good in these difficult times. They are very proactive regarding the care and well being of their patients. The food is well prepared, generous portions and they work with special diets. The staff is professional and knowledgeable no matter what questions are asked, whether health, therapy or business related. Everyone is always very friendly, helpful and willing to take the time to discuss any situation. They have a range of activities and encourage the patients to be outdoors in the courtyard in nice weather. They work to accommodate a family's needs whether it's visiting hours or other requests. "

"My mother-in-law was at Ideal Senior Living for a couple of years. She went to their assisted living, and she really loved it. She was elderly; she was 98. I couldn’t take care of her anymore at home because I was working, and I was getting called at home because she was falling. The assisted living was great. We would go where they had a beautiful dining room. The relatives and friends were able to go and eat with her whenever they wanted to. We just had to let them know so they could make reservations. The staff was great. They were very nice and very helpful there. They would help her with her bed. I still continue to do her washing. Everyone had their own little room, their own bath, and you could have a TV, and she had a phone. But if they wanted to, they could go out into this living area where a lot of the people went out and sat; they could converse with each other. They also had a recreation director who came in and did things for them. They would take them out for church services. Then she had gallbladder problems, and at that point she was very sick. She went into the hospital and they did the surgery. She didn’t bounce back at all. She had to give up the apartment. We moved her out of there, and she went across the street to their nursing home. "

"Abington Manor is very good. They took me in when nobody else had a room and the care, the nurses, and the aides were good. I'm not a bingo person or anything like that, but they have all types of programs to keep you busy or interested and you're not just laying in your bed the whole day unless you have to. It's in a beautiful country. You look out our windows and it's just trees that are starting to turn. The food is getting better. What we had today for breakfast was good. I have a particular taste so sometimes it is good, sometimes it isn't, but mostly it is. It's a good place to be and they are very friendly. I haven't used the activities yet, but everybody I talked to says that they have a great time at the activities."

"My husband made wonderful progress while in the rehab. facility. He can walk on his own and feed himself , which he couldn't do before he entered thee facility. Staff was always polite and helpful."

"The facility is on the smaller side but it gives off a family environment. The residents are always well taken care of. My interactions with the staff were wonderful. They work very hard and never hesitate to help anyone and everyone. The residents absolutely love playing bingo and many of the other activities provided. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is friendly and kind. Any question I had while visiting, was answered immediately or followed-up when the answer was found. I would highly recommend bring any of your loved ones to this facility. "

"My mother is currently staying in Absolut Care (Absolut Center For Nursing & Rehab Endicott LLC). The community is very good. My mother says that the food is great. I sample some of them, and I think it is very good also. They have activities like games, cards, and physical therapy, and they take the people out to interact with other residents. There is quite a selection of things to do there. They can improve on maybe some more people to respond when you push your button, They have trouble getting there because there is not enough people on staff. "

"What a beautiful facility. I love my cottage and all the amenities that come with it. There is a lot of storage and the cathedral ceilings make it feel so spacious. The fitness center is great and the pool is too. I love all of the activities that go on regularly. I think my favorite is wii bowling. I enjoy the trips to see area plays as well. The food is very good and I enjoy the wine and meal pairings. The village is kept immaculate inside and out and it is located close to town, banks, shopping and more."

"My aunt is at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center. It's been limited with Covid, but the staff are very cooperative when I call. It's difficult because you can only schedule a half-hour appointment once a week to see your people. That's not their fault. They're just following the CDC guidelines or whatever. She seems happy enough there though. Hopefully it'll open up in a little while, and I can actually get in there and see how things are. The staff are very nice and very good, so far. The case worker gets back to me when I call. If I want to call and talk to her nurse, she'll talk to me. We don't have any problems there at all. I can't go upstairs. I can only meet her downstairs in a conference room. They seem clean and the grounds are nice."
