My wife, Jaki, was admitted to Meadowview following a Geisinger Hospital stay due to a serious illness. She and I have been very pleased with all of the staff in the building, all of whom have provided excellent care and service. The therapy staff was a notch above excellent, the nursing care was superior, the kitchen staff was attentive to Jaki’s requests and the administrative staff was supportive of our needs. Thank you to all for a job well done! Jaki and Ellis!

I had never planned to be in a situation of having to place my dad. I have alot of medical people in the family but this hit hard. I can not say enough good about the care given, staff attention to dad and therapy intervention. With his disease there are many different and difficult days were he doesn't sleep or has behaviors he has never had in his life. They have never said a negative word to the family instead go out of the way to support and remind me its the disease. Therapy continues to work with him and try different approaches. Staff call for every condition change including a small cut on the finger to a bruise along with medication changes. My dad will never come home because it takes many people 24/7 to care for him and I am glad and trust this staff to do it.

Being in healthcare and watching a loved one decline from age and disease is difficult. All things can't be changed but even with a fracture obtained in the community requiring nursing home assist is difficult. The staff from the Therapies, MD, nursing and aides to business office and dietary all try to meet the ever changing needs. Concerns are promptly addressed and changes can be made. There has not been any staff member who has not been attentive and concerned. Family is updated of all changes from a bruise, med changes, any incident and wt changes as examples. Care plans are reviewed and family participation is encouraged. You speak with all departments and concerns addressed and you are encouraged to state any concerns. There are different styles of rooms from the newer rehab wing to the refurbished original nursing home sections. The main dining room is very spacious with windows all around for the view and a smaller dining room for those needing more assist. A large solarium is where many activities are set with an outdoor space for good weather. Again the stay can be as good as a family can make it by their involvement with their loved one. Everyone works as a team.

I would never recommend this place for anyone to send a loved one. My mom recently was sent here temporarily (only because she had surgery) She, along with my Aunt and I were extremely disappointed with the care amongst a few other disturbing things that happened while she was there.

My family member is at meadow view and she asked to get up out of bed seeing that we were there to visit. A staff member came down and asked if she could wait till lunch was picked up. She said that was fine not thinking it was going to be 45 minutes later. When we finally got staff to help her up the side was very rude to her rolling her eyes at us and her yelling at another staff member down the hall "she's in a foul mood again." I honestly would be in a foul mood to.. I would never recommend this place to anyone..

DON’T RECOMMEND! A family member was admitted to Meadowview Healthcare & Rehab Center in Montrose, PA, for rehabilitation after hospitalization for a hip fracture. The goal was physical therapy and then return home. The physical therapy received at Meadowview was first thing in the morning, before breakfast, and the rest of his day was spent in a geri-chair in the lobby, with the exception of meals. Family members who visited daily needed to ask for him to be showered, shaved, dressed in clean clothing, etc. There was very little communication, stimulation or interaction with other residents or the staff, day after day. As his condition continued to deteriorate and he suffered a SIGNIFICANT and unhealthy weight loss, the family decided to move him from Meadowview to another facility. The decline in his health and well-being from day one until he moved to another facility was HEARTBREAKING. Sitting in the chair so many hours a day resulted in him being barely able to walk and a ruptured disk in his neck from his head leaning in the chair without support. He was not given the prescribed daily dosage of medication that he was supposed to receive. After being moved to the new facility, he had a thorough examination by the family doctor. Other conditions were discovered that should not have gone unnoticed or been ignored. The majority of the negative effects that occurred while at Meadowview are slowly being reversed -- obstacles that he shouldn’t have had to overcome. Our hearts go out to the residents who might not have family members to visit on a regular basis to ensure that they are receiving the best care possible. Based on our family’s experience, we definitely would NOT recommend Meadowview, especially for rehabilitation.

My husband was at Meadow view for about 2 months, Which he was placed in his chair all day long. His skin broke down severely and they refused to transport him to the hospital at my request. His Wife who is his health care proxy.
