The Good Shepherd Fairview Home was my aunt's first choice because she had been to Good Shepherd before, after hospitalization, for a short term stay, and she loved it there. However, they had no openings for her this time. It was an excellent facility. The staff was wonderful. They were very enthusiastic, caring, and concerned about her. They were always encouraging her to do things, and getting involved in things. It really promoted her recovery. They had a book library, and they had a library that came around to the residents, and they had a regular library that you could go to, too. And my aunt is an avid reader, so that was good for her. She could have her cat there. That was a tremendous advantage, and that's one thing she loved about them. They had bingo and games, arts, cards, and putting together puzzles. I saw the food, I saw her eat very well, and she's a picky eater. The cost was really decent, it was less than a lot of other facilities.

We had an in-person tour of Good Shepherd Fairview Home. The apartment was nice. The kitchen was a good size. The activities were good. The downside of their program was that if you needed assisted living, you had to move out of the apartment. It was clean and less expensive than the other facility. So it was probably a better value for the money. It was pleasant there. The halls were pleasant.

Good Shepherd-Fairview Home looked very clean, very homey, and the atmosphere was nice. It felt more like a hotel than a hospital. I think they had some type of stage-based church services and they had music. It was a year ago that I visited. They're very friendly and helpful. They had a little cafe that they could go to, their own little bank, and a salon. It felt like a little community center.

My father was staying on the rehab unit unfortunately was during the lockdown ,but these people ...employees they went beyond helpful to my family and my dad always call us using FaceTime to see him and talk to him staff were super professional and very caring did not even not meet the staff in person but let me tell you they were so warm and loving when ever they call me ,my father was confused and having difficulty staying without his family .I do not even have to call the unit to ask how his day was ,the supervisor would call me in evening ,to share wether he had a bad day or good day.she was so warm very caring ,I really do not know her name has an accent very down to earth ,lovely girl she called me every time she is on ,I feel like I have known her all my life so friendly and the Nurse practitioner also calls me with any updates very professional I am very pleased with the care and the love they gave my dad I will recommend.p to anyone who’s love one needs therapy or nursing home care thank you

Good Shepherd Fairview Home nursing home is 60 years old but it's well-maintained. My dad has been there for almost three years and we've had very good luck with them. The dining area is clean, seems homey, and all the people like it. They have people coming in with musical instruments, play cards, take them to a restaurant a couple times a month, and my dad goes to the gym three days a week. The staff is very welcoming and they know me as soon as I walk in. My dad's room and the hallways are always clean.

Out the four nursing facilities that my mom has been in and out of, they are the worst in the regard for her and our family needs. I have a health issue that had prevemted me from visiting my mom for the last two months. I get a call from them saying they were treminating her residence at the facitlity. So while I was not able to get there and to fight for her they just transferred her out of the facility. During the transfer half her belongs as well as her lift chair have disappeared. I wouldn't send my worse enemy there.

My moms currently there in her own apartment and she loves it there. She gets to go on trips to hockey games ,movies, picnics, penny gambling (in house), and restaurants. She loves wii bowling--they have a league and participate in tournaments. I m very happy she arrived prior to declining( she's still sharp and able to have fun). ---Gina---

Good Shepherd Fairview Home was a nice place but would require a big deposit of $150,000 but 90% of it is refundable. The location is very nice and the facility is fairly new. They have cottages and apartments for independent living and assisted living. They have everything for recreational activities because it is fairly new.

My aunt is at Good Shepherd Fairview, and it’s been fabulous. It’s affordable, it’s one of the cheaper places in the area, and they have everything there. They have a café, a hairdresser, a podiatrist, and a bank. She has her prayer group, her rosary, and her church. They go twice a week to the grocery store, they have a shuttle, and then they also go to the casino, the shopping mall, and she also has a chauffeur service included in the price when she will go to any medical appointment and it’s part of the price that she pays. They have yoga, prayer group, social hour, men’s night, meeting clubs, mardigras; they have everything. I want to live there and I’m not even 50. The staff is fabulous. We had an issue where my aunt and another lady moved in at the same time and they issued the same phone number, so the housekeeper, went to my aunt’s room and knocked on the door to tell her that her phone was not working, and they fixed the problem. She had a problem with her toilet and it was fixed the next day, she had an issue with her TV remote and the maintenance man came and fixed it, and they hung her pictures. They’re absolutely fabulous, I was so impressed.

The staff at Good Shepherd Fairview Home have been very helpful in securing a community for my mother. It’s in a city that is well known to us. We saw the one-bedroom apartment with a kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom with safety features, walk-in shower, individual control of air conditioning, and heating. Everything is included, except telephone.

The people at Good Shepherd Fairview were very nice, and the rooms were very clean but very small. And that was the only thing that I didn't like. Fairview costs the most, but they were the only place that would allow you to stay if you ran out of money and applied for Medicaid.

So far, my mother-in-law seems happiest at Good Shepherd. She likes the food better there, and the people are nice. I think that it is going to work out OK for her. The one thing also that we like -- that I liked a lot in the beginning -- is that the dining rooms are smaller and more personalized. There aren't so many people in each one, so it just doesn't seem to be overwhelming. It was a little cozier. They are also very accommodating to the family; they are very good to us too. She likes the food the best so far, and that means a lot for the old people.

Good Shepherd Fairview Home has three levels of care. You could go and live there until you needed assisted living or regular nursing care. I just visited the independent living area. I thought it was very nice and very good. It had a nice parking area and in a good area of town. The staff were very friendly and nice. The dining area was very wide and open with a lot of windows. I believed they had activities. However, when I needed to move in they did not have an available room.

The grounds as well as the interior are very well maintained, it feels more like a hotel than assisted living. The "apartment-style" suites are good sized and easy to get around. And from what I hear the food is pretty good and the staff is helpful. I wish I could live there!

The facility is beautiful and it's nice that there are a few different types of living facilities available here. At times it seems they are struggling with management; particularly in food service where they present that they are 5 star dining, and charge as if they are, but serve food that seems cheap and thrown together. The costs of living here are pretty high for the service that you actually receive.

I have an application for residency at this nursing home for my mother. The young lady that reviews the application was very friendly and quite helpful in choosing what might best my mothers needs. This is all new to me, and to be quite truthful overwhelming. It is nice when someone takes a few extra minutes out of there day to help makes a difference in my day.

I am a currently going to school as an LPN and was required to volunteer at an assisted living home in our area. I visited The Good Shepherd Fairview home in Binghamton, New York. The nursing staff was quick to introduce themselves and show me around. The residents seemed to be happy in their environment, playing games, socializing, and watching television. Although their facilities did not seem up to date, everything was well taken care of and clean. The rooms seem to have been spacious and comfortable. I did have the opportunity to eat lunch there, and I would say that is the only thing I would not give 5 stars for! As mentioned before, the nursing staff seems to care about their residents and take good care of them. Overall it seemed to be a nice play to live and be employed at. I would recommend The Good Shepherd Fairview to anyone who asks.
