"We are going to choose Good Shepherd Village at Endwell because we like the cleanliness of the facility and the size of the room. The staff was very accommodating, they did whatever they could to help us get there to do a tour, and the availability. The staff who gave the tour was most helpful. They have an outdoor area, and meals are included, like two meals a day."

"I visited Elizabeth Church Manor with my son and daughter-in-law and loved it. Both of the buildings were so clean, so neat, and so welcoming. I wish I could move in there tomorrow. There were several shared rooms, but at 82, I don’t want to share a room with anyone. They were all clean, spacious, and neat. I kept asking my son, “Have you filled the application yet? Have you heard anything?” because if I had my way, I’d be there this minute. The staff was very nice, but I didn’t have that much contact because we went there and took a tour on a Sunday. The people I saw were very nice. There was a chapel, which impressed me, and, as far as I know, it was available for people to go in anytime of the day. I do a lot of needlework and there was a whole room set up with large tables not too far from the room that I hope I will be getting. I was very impressed. "

"Good Shepherd Fairview Home was a nice place but would require a big deposit of $150,000 but 90% of it is refundable. The location is very nice and the facility is fairly new. They have cottages and apartments for independent living and assisted living. They have everything for recreational activities because it is fairly new. "

"My husband was at this nursing home for rehab after being in the hospital. Can't say enough good things about the care that he received. He was in a nursing home previously and we did not have a pleasant experience. The staff here made sure to call us with every single detail. The only compliant that he had was it was a little noisy at night time because they are doing remodeling (which looks amazing) and it's done while everyone is asleep. The place is really clean, the nurses are wonderful, and the therapy department worked really hard to get my husband home in the shortest amount of time possible. I would highly suggest this place. "

"Being in healthcare and watching a loved one decline from age and disease is difficult. All things can't be changed but even with a fracture obtained in the community requiring nursing home assist is difficult. The staff from the Therapies, MD, nursing and aides to business office and dietary all try to meet the ever changing needs. Concerns are promptly addressed and changes can be made. There has not been any staff member who has not been attentive and concerned. Family is updated of all changes from a bruise, med changes, any incident and wt changes as examples. Care plans are reviewed and family participation is encouraged. You speak with all departments and concerns addressed and you are encouraged to state any concerns. There are different styles of rooms from the newer rehab wing to the refurbished original nursing home sections. The main dining room is very spacious with windows all around for the view and a smaller dining room for those needing more assist. A large solarium is where many activities are set with an outdoor space for good weather. Again the stay can be as good as a family can make it by their involvement with their loved one. Everyone works as a team. "

"Sayre Health Center provides total care. Mother is in a private room and it's beautiful. It isn't just a nursing home, it's for rehabilitation and all sorts of things they have people in for. The Alzheimer's and dementia patients are right in with the regular population which is what I like because that keeps her more active and she will cope to these normal people as well. The food is pretty good. I've had the food myself. The staff is very good and very helpful as far as I can see. If anything happens, they always notify me immediately and if they can't get me they call one of my other brothers or my sister. They're very quick to respond. If I have a question, they call me back right away. They have cookies and coffee during the day. They also have a snack cart that comes around in the afternoon. They quite often have popcorn night or movie night with popcorn. They really do a nice job, I think, much better than the other place that we were in but with a different setup. They have lots of groups that come in for singing, band concerts, choral concerts and country western bands. They have trips to the casino, trips to the mall and trips to see the Christmas lights. They have bingo and book club. I like the place. My whole family is quite happy with it. "

"My mom was at the Elderwood at Waverly and we had a fair experience with them. The communication with the staff was really, really good, but the thing that complicates everything is the virus. In a rehab facility you should be able to go out, use equipment, and things like that, but it was a little bit more limited because things weren't available for the people. They didn't have any activates because of the virus and they couldn't bring them out of their rooms or anything like that. The food was fair and the facility was a little dated; it could use some work. Safety wise they were very safe, they didn't even let me into the building. I understand that, I do appreciate it too, because she wasn't infected."

"the best care I have ever seen in a memory unit. The staff and cna's are top knotch and very caring and compassionate. The activities staff keep the residents engaged and provide and all round family atmosphere. I cannot say enough good about this facility. My mother was there over a year and I also was very present on a daily basis and saw much. "

"This facility is very poor. The majority of time, the nurses do not do anything but distribute meds. They utterly refuse to answer call buttons. They employ CNA's, but the ratio of patients to one CNA is 18 patients. Ashton has a repeatedly not paid their cable bill, which means the residents do not get to watch TV. CNA's are told to lie to the patients and tell them the cable is out. The dinner time has been changed to a later time for the convenience of the staff, not the patients. Some patients are forced to go to the dining room to eat instead of being able to chose if they would like to stay in their room and watch a TV program. CNA's are harassed and ad are not supported by the nursing staff. This facility needs to be audited and investigated. "
