"My mom has moved into the memory care unit at Heartis Village Peoria. They are wonderful. It's beautiful and clean. All the staff members are happy, gracious, and wonderful to her. Everything is safe. The food is wonderful. My mom eats well. She is happy. She even played bingo yesterday, and with my help, she won. They have activities every day. They have a young girl as the activities director who has all kinds of things for them to do. Mom is still adjusting, but she was at church when I saw her. They were singing songs and saying prayers, which made her very happy, relaxed, and calm. She feels safe there, and that's what counts. They quoted us an amount and told us that no matter how much more care my mother may need, that number would never change. I found that to be very comforting."

"Evergreen Place is very nice and well-equipped, it's in a beautiful area, and the rooms are really nice. The place was also equipped for people that are handicapped and the staff is always there to assist them. The food is fine, and our experience with the staff is very good; they have excellent staff members. They play cards and they have other activities for the residents. The facilities are very nice. It's only three-years-old, so the building is beautiful."

"The Lodge at Manito was bright and clean. The lady who talked to me was very friendly and very informative. She gave me a lot of information about the facility and the kind of care that my mother could receive. I liked everything about it, except it was quite a distance to drive. I wanted something a little closer to home. The Lodge at Manito was so nice, and everybody was very friendly and informative. The staff even gave me the names of other places I could look at that were closer. The place was beautiful. I like everything about it. You walked in and you just felt comfortable."

"My mom is at Evergreen Place Assisted Living. They're very caring and easy to communicate with, and they provide lots of activities and opportunities for my mom. The staff is very informative and always contacts me right away if anything happens. And if I need them to do anything for my mom, they're very eager and willing to do that too, so it's a good place. She doesn't complain about the food, they bring it to her room when she needs it, or they'll help get her down if they need to. I think they're very expensive, but compared to other places, they're all way overpriced and that's just how it is. My mom doesn't go to many of the activities, but they offer good things for them. Like for Easter, the families can come in and eat for $5 per person, up to three people. They have live bunnies come in that residents could hold, they have music provided by Illinois State students come in, they play bingo, they have movie weekends and popcorn, and they have donuts every Friday. They also have meetings with the residents where they take their input and change things. Like when the residents asked for the doors to stay open longer, and so they changed that, and they also talked about the menus being placed in different places. After they have their meetings, they then type up letters and send that to all the residents. They're listening to their residents' needs and then taking their input and making things better."

"My sister has moved into Sugar Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center. They are excellent. They have completed several assessments on her, and she visited with a doctor there and had her prescriptions fine-tuned. They've got her engaged, interacting with staff, and moving around the facility. She is getting a little more activity than she did in the previous location where she stayed. I've sat there with my sister while she had lunch a couple of times, and it seems to work pretty well for her. She likes it pretty much. People are not hiding in their rooms or self-isolating, they're out with their activities. They're moving around the facility or the outdoor patio area or their courtyard. They seem to have a good staff-to- resident ratio. Everybody seems to know my sister pretty well already, which is good. Every time I go in there, I don't have to look for the director of nursing or the activities coordinator. I just run into them, and we chat for a little bit. So, it's easy for me to get caught up on how my sister is doing and what challenges she's having. So that's been great, and it's 10 minutes from our house. We can stop out there any day for a few minutes or an hour or longer whenever we want. It's convenient. The staff have been very upfront and they're good communicators. They keep us apprised of where they are with her transition to their facility, the types of things and activities that they want her to participate in, and how they go about it. It's been really good. They seem to be very clean and well-organized. The building structure allows people to walk around the really wide halls. They can stroll inside the facility in a figure-eight pattern, which is maybe a quarter of a mile in total. They could get a good walk and just be inside doing that. They have nice seating areas and a nice activity room. It's not a old organization. Facility-wise, it's not brand new either, but it's well-kept. In comparison to where she was residing before, this place is so much better, and it is more expensive, but it certainly seems to be worth it."

"My sister will be moving into Holiday Blair House. It was very clean, the people were friendly, and the food on the menu sounded wonderful. The room size was fine, but not as big as I would like."

"We went to Bickford of Bloomington. We went specifically into the memory care wing. It was an excellent facility. It was bright, wide, and open. The rooms were large. The people appeared to be loving to the ones who were in there. The staff was very cheerful and upbeat. I was very impressed with it."

"My mother will be moving into Village at Mercy Creek. It's beautiful, and the staff is wonderful. The dining room and the menus are fantastic. There's a beauty parlor and a beautiful courtyard. It's just well kept and clean. It's a little smaller atmosphere than the other ones I toured, which fits well for my mother. My mother made the final decision, but I think the Franciscan affiliation was a big part of it. My mother's Catholic, so that might have had something to do with it, but I think the smaller atmosphere was very appealing to her and us. The other facilities I looked at were larger. It's wonderful. The staff is very educated in geriatrics; that is their field."

"Morton Reflections Memory Care is close to our home. My father-in-law receives very good care there and he's happy. That's the most important thing. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the room is just perfect for him, enough for what he needs. He doesn't sleep in a bed, he sleeps in a recliner, so we have it set up like a little apartment. He's happy with the food too. Their dining area is very nice and it's right outside his room, so it doesn't take him very far to get there. The atmosphere is very enjoyable for him. He has coffee with his friends in the morning and he's been participating in the exercises and everything, so we're happy about that."

"This is a beautiful facility with employees that treated my father like he was their own. I am so very thankful that he was able to stay at such a beautiful facility with such great care. "

"I have visited Morton Terrace on numerous occasions, both as a visitor to my now-deceased great grandmother and to perform piano music for the residents. In both visits, I have nothing but positive things to say. When my great grandma was a resident here, she was treated with the utmost respect by the staff, fed great meals, and was pleased with the service up until she died peacefully in her sleep. As a musical performer on the piano, I have always felt very appreciated by the staff and residents. Preparation is always done ahead of time when the staff is notified. Although it has been a Christmas or two since I last had a chance to play, I can still recall how much the residents enjoyed the music. Allowing music to be played in the main room is, in my opinion, a great service to the residents. A nursing home is sometimes a difficult place to keep spirits up, but the staff here, in my experience, did their best to create a happy, peaceful place for the residents to enjoy the remainder of their lives in relaxation and dignity. A five-star nursing home for sure. "

"My wife is at Arcadia Care at Morton for rehab. They're all good people. They listen and provide what they can. It's in good shape. She's in a one bedroom and she got everything in there. The food is pretty appetizing, a three-course meal. Sometimes she doesn't like the stuff that she got. I don't know how they determine the meals or anything like that, but for the most part, they are pretty good. The facility is not currently good, but mostly good. She gets therapy and help in the shower."

"Morton Villas of Holly Brook had a separate 50s dining room. The staff was friendly. Everybody that walked by greeted you. We went around with the assistant director. We looked in a couple of rooms and then they showed us around for all the different activities where you would go. They're all on one floor. They have one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments. They do not have studios. They have the schedule on a wall. You can look at the schedule each day and see what they're doing that day and where all the residents are."
