"My father moved into the Victory Centre of Roseland last November. The location was convenient, it was near my home, and it was ten to fifteen minutes away. When I went there it seemed to be a fairly decent place. They give him his meals and things of that nature. He hasn't been there long. Covid has a lot to do with things that happen. The staff has been very accommodating of your needs. I think they're good. He has plenty to eat and hasn't complained at all. They have a gym, salon, and a beautiful backyard. Those that want to smoke can go out and smoke. They've got a little workout area for your grandchildren. If you want to bring the little ones they can play. So I think that's nice. They got birds, they got a piano, and they played music. So that's pretty good. I think they do a good job under the circumstances."

"It is new, so everything is fresh. The rooms are also the same. The person who assisted us during the tour showed us around and explained everything. She was great. They had a place for therapy, and we saw people coming back from going out for breakfast. The dining area was very pleasant, and supposedly they have a chef."

"The Bickford of Tinley Park was very nice. It was pretty much single rooms, which were nice. It's new, clean, and the rooms were laid out well. The staff was very knowledgeable. They have a personal chef running the kitchen, and it looks like they have plenty of activities there, but then the cost was higher."

"Hi, My brother and I brought my Mom to Emeritus for a 2 week 'Trial' period. We were greeted and treated wonderfully. My moms room was ready and waiting. We were able to have lunch with her before we left her. The lunch was delicious and it was served by a very friendly staff. After lunch we were taken to her room and within 10 minutes or so, a nurse and assistant came by to discuss her Meds and take vitals. They were great! We were very comfortable leaving her here. "The rooms at Victory Centre of South Chicago were very nice, clean, and had a nice view. The heat was ample. They had a ping-pong table, a pool table, games, television, and stretching exercises. The food was ample and scheduled, but you can always have soup or something else, and that was readily available for eight to 10 hours. The staff was excellent in explaining everything."

"I've had my dad for a short stay at Evergreen Senior Living - Orland Park. We were very happy with it, my dad has no complaints. It's a newer facility, around five years old, so it was new and everything's updated. The people seemed to be loving and caring and everything seemed to be in order. The staff seemed to be very caring, and there was a nurse who made sure that my dad takes his medication. They seemed to be very thorough and it was a beautiful facility. During the few times I was there to visit my dad, they have groups of people doing activities. They had a TV in a common room where they were singing along to songs and doing different things for memory care. They're working with the people there, so they weren't just sitting in a chair doing nothing. They weren't any more expensive compared to anyone else, they were the average price. They have a beauty salon available on the premises and they have an outdoor terrace that they can go out on."

"My husband moved to Residences at Deer Creek. I like that he's getting good care, and it's a convenient place for me to visit. The staff is very helpful in assisting him. The facility is very clean. It's a good building. The value is very expensive. The layout is very nice and very convenient for the patient."

"My grandmother currently lives in Marian Village. She enjoys it. She is in independent living right now. She enjoys the social interaction with the community events and activities and such. She is active with the chapel there, and the services for the community three times a week. She is also on a few planning committee things for the residents there. I found the staff to be friendly."

"We liked the physical structure of Franciscan Village. We liked the layout of the exterior, the community where it's located, and the setting. It's in a nice wooded area that's pleasant and a little out of the way. The layouts of the independent living cabins/housing units were nice and spread out a little bit. They've got a common area, a chapel, and a bistro place. It was all very nice. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable."

"We liked the vibe of Woodlands at The British Home - it was friendly and casual, yet the business of taking care of those who needed it was being attended to. The grounds were spacious and well tended. We were in Chicago checking out assisted living residences and decided to check out some of the suburban areas, since they are so easy to access from the city. There were plenty of staff to take care of basic needs and cleaning. All of the areas were pleasant to be in and we could see that the residents thought so, too. The activities ranged from board games, to discussions, private reading and watching film and TV - some people were also using computers. The staff is well-versed at taking care of a variety of types of people, from those who are not ambulatory - to people who have memory issues. Our aunt is in the early stages of dementia - it comes and goes - so she needs to live in a place that can handle this. The indoor areas were all clean and bright. There is plenty of sunlight so that they do not need to use lighting when it is sunny outside. This is true for many of the dwelling spaces, as well. Our aunt likes to make artwork, so the lighting is really appreciated. The activities they plan regularly include everything from visiting local restaurant favorites, the public library and movies - to day trips to nearby Chicago. They have planned exercise classes - but also offer residents to work out any time they wish. We liked that they encourage exercise - a people with early dementia can be forgetful. The dining room was quite nice, with plenty of space. The food we saw looked and smelled delicious. The menus all had healthy food options for all kinds of diets. Healthy snacks are offered all day and into the evening, as well as whenever residents request them. The private areas were nicely decorated and personalized for the residents and it was clear that they enjoyed their surroundings a great deal. We are glad we took the time to look at this facility and it is in the running as one of the better ones we visited so far. "

"My mother-in-law has moved into American House Oak Park. She's getting assisted living. I like the fact that they keep her busy. They have different activities. She's met quite a few of the residents. They have an exercise class. They have a reading club they do together where they all read the same book and they discuss it. They have a Bible study. They do quite a few things. She's in a one-room apartment, and she has a refrigerator and she doesn't have a stove. She has a refrigerator and a microwave, just the essentials right there in her kitchen. She's got an area where her bed is. She's got a nice big walk-in closet. The bathroom is nice. The bathroom has a roll-in shower where if she was on a walker, she could just roll the walker into the shower and it's a big bathroom. It's got a shower, a toilet, and a sink with the vanity. There's plenty of room. If someone was in a wheelchair, they could maneuver in the bathroom. There's plenty of room to do what they need to do and roll it in and out of the shower. She likes some of the food. She's picky. There are some things she likes and some things she doesn't like. They play games. She loves the different activities. It's more expensive than some of the other ones. They'll take them on the bus, and then they'll take the residents to different outside activities, so they can get out of the building."

"A wonderful concept of providing care. Instead of being an institutional environment, it is a comfortable single-family home that has been designed for this purpose. My grandmother loved the fact that she lived in a single family home, with three other residents, while getting all the help that she needed. I would recommend Golden Age to anyone who is looking for a place that offers assisted living. Like they claim...at Golden Age you don't live in a home, you live at home."

"Moving to The Clare is a big decision. It may be the best decision we’ve ever made. Many of the problems we had before moving here such as getting an appliance repaired or convenient transportation have disappeared. I feel safer due to the front door vigilance. The food and restaurant options are a particular delight. We can reserve a table and eat with friends or enjoy the well-planned meals in the privacy of our unit. These are all important points, but the best thing is the wonderful community of interesting people and caring staff."
