"We picked The Village at Morse Farm for my mom. It's closest to us. It's very pleasant and nicely done. One of my mom's good friends still lives there, so that's a big plus. It's very accommodating. They take care of everything for you, and it was going to be very easy if my mom needed to transfer into Medicaid funding. You can still stay there. They don't make you leave or wait or move or anything, so that was a consideration, too. The staff who gave the tour was very informative. The room was very pleasant and nice. Nice surroundings. They have one- and two-bedrooms, and so it would be very helpful to have that possibility. We didn't try any food, but the dining area was nice, open, bright, and pleasant. My mom's friend just loves it there. That's probably the reason we were thinking of it, especially since it's the closest one to us. She said, "I just live like a queen. They take care of everything. It's like living in a resort." It's reasonably priced compared to all the other ones around us that I called."

"I've moved to Liberty Village of Jerseyville and I think it's a wonderful place. The staff is great, the facility is very nice, and if you have any problems in your rooms they come in right away and fix anything, or they'll add to what you like. Like they would add pull things for you so you can get up, like in the bathroom or by your bed. I don't have any objections to this place. I just think it's wonderful. I'm independent and my husband is assisted, so we're in the same area but at different levels. They have a gym which I think is nice, and they even do physical therapy, but the rest of us are able to go in and exercise. They do everything to keep the place looking nice, it's just beautiful. The meals are very good and they have a lot of activities. Coming up is a Grinch Parade, so we have to dress in green and parade around the place, they do card night, and game night, and early this week we went out for lunch. They constantly come up with activities and things that people want to do. This morning they had Christmas carols around the fireplace, which was really nice. They bring us a calendar that has an activity every day for people to join in on, and I think they're amazing to come up with that many things. They're very accommodating. For instance, me who is independent they don't say I can't do this or I can't do that. Of course my husband needs my help, but he can go along with me if I'm going to do something. So they don't try to hold us down, they encourage us to go and do and run our own lives. So I think that's important. They do everything they can to help people maintain their independence."

"My aunt is at Villas of Holly Brook in Jerseyville. It's like a 4-star hotel, it's a beautiful place. She knew several of the nurses and the aides that were there because they came from a place where she was at so that was good. The director, Suzanne, is very, very helpful. Lisa, the nurse, is also very helpful. It's clean, it's new and it's just beautiful. Just very expensive. My aunt is in their memory care unit. She's going to be 100 years old in just a month. If you don't like the main course, you can get something else. My aunt says the food is good but what I had there was a hamburger and it was just tasteless. It was hamburgers, potato chips, and green beans and whoever fixed it to green beans just dumped them out of the can and heated it up. They didn't add anything to them to make them taste better. So, I wasn't impressed with the meal but I've only had one meal there and my aunt says the food is good. The staff was very kind, very helpful and friendly. The facility was very clean. When we moved my aunt and she had some pictures, the maintenance men hung them for her and they looked nice when they put them in her room. I think it's cleaned once a week. They changed the sheets a couple of times a week and she gets 3 baths a week. It's just very clean and very appealing. Each room has a front on it that makes it look like a house or the front door of a house. Each one has painted a different color so it looks like different little houses in there. They have a great big open area that's beautifully decorated, lots of seats, several TVs out there the residents can watch, and a table where you can play checkers or chess, and that's just in the memory care unit. There's a great big fish tank with a lot of different colored fish in it and a little kitchen area where they can fix snacks and have their dining room. They have a beautiful courtyard. You can go out, take your relatives outside and sit outside. It's just very pretty with lots of flowers and greenery. In the assisted living part, they have a pool table and a cafe, and a bar with tea and lemonade and soft-serve ice cream. Each of the assisted living and memory care has a spa. There's a sensory room in the assisted living area. It's just a beautiful place and I was very impressed with it. Where she was before, they let her lay in bed all the time. Here they make her get up and come sit outside and interact with people in the open area. She plays bingo and some other things. They try to get her to come out and be involved and visit with the other residents there. There are not many people there now. I think there are only nine in the section she's in because it's a new place. I think they offer a lot of activities, they have an enthusiastic activity director back there in the memory care unit. It's expensive to stay there. It's about $1000 a month more than where she was before. You have to have long-term care insurance and you have to have saved your money to be able to afford to live there. She's considered a level two patient so they charge her more because she needs more assistance."

"I went to Cedar Creek of Godfrey. They were awesome and very nice. The place was really clean, and I was just very impressed. It's just my mom just needed a different level of care. They would have been perfect. It was well put together. I was impressed. It looked very nice. It looked like a nice community for people. The rooms were very, very nice. She showed me a single room. It was almost like a little mini apartment. You had your bedroom, a little kitchen area, and a little living area. It was really nice. I did not eat there, but they did give me a thank you package for coming to visit; it was very nice. It was a box full of bakery stuff. I liked the community itself. Everybody there that was walking around or even in wheelchairs seemed happy. There wasn't anybody just sitting there in the day like they were drugged up or anything. Everybody looked happy and just like they're living their best life where they're at. They had a game room and a library. The facility was spacious. It was just very nice and clean."
