"We chose Lexington Square of Lombard for the location because it's closer to most of us compared to some of the others that I looked at, and they are all very caring people. I like their tenure. Most of the staff has been there for quite some time and that was important to me because my cousin is in memory care, and I wanted to make sure that the staff knew how to deal with memory care. Safety is pretty good. I have to have a passkey to go in and to get out. They don't let just anybody in. The residents aren't able to get on the elevator on their own. I like the fact that the residents all wear a little beeper to page a nurse if need be. She has indicated that the food was very good. I like the variety. She is diabetic, and they are paying attention to that, so I thought that was great. There are things that she doesn't like, but I didn't see anybody complaining. They seem to be keeping her quite busy. They have her up and dressed every day. She's always doing something. The facility is very pleasant, very homey, and very clean. Everybody just seems very comfortable there."

"A wonderful concept of providing care. Instead of being an institutional environment, it is a comfortable single-family home that has been designed for this purpose. My grandmother loved the fact that she lived in a single family home, with three other residents, while getting all the help that she needed. I would recommend Golden Age to anyone who is looking for a place that offers assisted living. Like they claim...at Golden Age you don't live in a home, you live at home."

"Sunrise of Willowbrook was very friendly, nice, and clean. It was all good. I only met the director and a couple of people passing by, but everyone seemed very friendly. They had a nice little dining area and a little library. Everything looked very nice. The only thing is the room that they had, my mom would have looked down a dumpster, and that would be my main negative for that. They were very good. They were right up there. It was very good and very nice. The staff were great. The place could be a little more updated, but their population doesn't care as much about all that either."

"We toured Brookdale Lisle's independent living for our father-in-law. Our salesperson, who's also the person who gave us the tour, was very nice. She answered all of our questions, showed us everything, and a couple of rooms. She showed us a studio and a one-bedroom, the ones we were interested in. She also showed us their nursing station and all their amenities. She was very pleasant and we enjoyed having the tour with her. They had a pool for exercising, a library, and a fitness room. They have a little garden outside and a garden group if you want to go gardening. It seemed like they had activities throughout the day, too. Their dining room was very clean and very nice. They had a little outside patio in the summertime. They put tables and umbrellas out there if you wanted to eat outside, and that was nice. The room we saw seemed very clean. The people we saw seemed happy to be there. There was a room where people got together and played board games. We saw a few people doing that and people exercising in the exercise room. It was a pretty big facility, and it was very clean. My father-in-law was pleasantly surprised. He said it was a lot nicer than he thought it would be, and I agree with him. We might be going back because they have happy hours every Friday, so my father-in-law kind of wanted to go to one to meet more people to kind of help make up his mind."

"Brighton Gardens of Wheaton was too expensive by the time they had everything up, like giving my sister her medicine and everything else. It was a very nice place, though. It was wonderful. The place was beautiful and newly remodeled. Everybody there was very nice. They showed us a one-bedroom apartment. It was nice because it had a little kitchenette, a walk-in shower, and a walk-in closet. It would have been great. They were also going to take my sister's cats, and some people even had their little dogs there. Three meals a day were included. The staff who gave the tour was very nice. She answered all the questions we had. The food was good. They had a large menu, and all different kinds of things on it."

The room that I was looking at was spacious enough for my needs. Tim, who gave me the tour, was very thorough in his explanation, so I was able to understand all the ins and outs of living there. There were lots of activities to be partaken in, both in the facility and outside the facility."

"We moved my mom in back in September of 2024 and we couldn’t be happier with the environment she’s in and care she receives. I wish we made the move earlier as her life has become so much more full as she exercises and socializes throughout the day. She literally thanks us routinely for finding such a nice place to live. Her unit is very nice and furnished with items that used to be in her home which gives her just enough familiarity. The staffing: activities director, front desk, cleaning, maintenance, dining room, care givers and nursing are all exceptional. When my mom has had medical procedures, nursing has coordinated with us to make sure they are on board with her additional care and needs. I could go on. Pleased at every level."

"The Roosevelt at Salt Creek is my number 1 pick, but I can't get a room with a laundry room in it. You have to go down the hall like you're at a laundromat, and I just can't do that. Nevertheless, I like everything about it. I would see people in the hallway, and they were very friendly. The marketing people were very well-versed, cooperative, and attentive. They don't have a nursing section for later on, and I just want to make one move. They offered a free lunch the day we were there. They also offered to work with me on the rent. They were remodeling at that time, but the units I visited were very clean, and the dining room was lovely and clean. I love the fact that they have an indoor pool. Swimming is important to me, but that's not a deal breaker because I know most places don't have a swimming pool. However, that was an extra advantage from my standpoint."

"We met with a young lady at The Sheridan at Oak Brook. She toured us downstairs, where the main living area is. Then we went upstairs to see a one bedroom. From there, we went down the hall to another side, and saw a one bedroom with a den. We talked of fees, and then we went back downstairs and saw the other activity areas. They have a big room on the top floor, like a big conference room or party room, where you can have birthday parties or reunions. She showed us the dining area, the snack bar, and the bar where you can get a cocktail if you wish to. She showed us the rest of the main area. It was a good tour. We were there for maybe an hour, and it was great. We did a lot of walking and took the elevators. We had plenty of time. There was no hurry at all. We asked questions and she gave us a lot of answers. Then, she sent us home with a booklet. This place is lovely and nice. The staff was excellent. It looks beautiful, clean, and well cared for."

We just had a good feeling about it when we went, talked to them, and saw the place. We also had recommendations from other people who had loved ones there. The staff members are super friendly, very communicative, helpful, and flexible. The food is very good. It's a very nice building. They keep it clean and well-maintained. They have an entire calendar of activities that they publish."

"My mom has moved into HarborChase of Naperville. She seems very happy there. She loves the food, and she has participated in a few activities. She loves it. There's an outside patio area that is private and is off of her room, so she can go outside and sit outside and get fresh air. She enjoys being outside. Especially in the summer when it's warmer, she'll be able to spend a lot of time out there. That was a big selling point for them. My mom's room is great. It feels bigger than the last place that she was at. It has almost a full kitchen. It doesn't have an oven, but it has a microwave and a fridge. It looks like an actual kitchen. It's not just like a little galley kind of when you just walk in and it's to the side. It has a counter that comes out and lots of storage space. It's nice. Her room also has a big open living room area. She's in a one-bedroom, so she has her own bedroom, and the bathroom is off the bedroom. There are tons of storage space. There were a couple of things that we found like a light bulb needs to be replaced or one of the outlets didn't work, but we went to the front desk, and they put in work orders to have those repaired. I'm not sure if it has been fixed yet, but they have a good process for that. In terms of activities, I know my mom has played cards, and they played blackjack one night. She had an appointment to get her nails done. She mentioned that there are a few other activities. I saw a flier on the counter like a fall kind of outing thing that they were having. They will take them to the store and things like that. They have several things every day for them to participate in. I haven't seen their dining room area, but they also have like a little bistro area where if you don't want a full meal, you can just go there and get like a sandwich or something lighter. My mom hasn't fallen since she's been there, which is an accomplishment in and of itself. She seems happy and she likes the food. I would say it's greater than her expectation. I've only met a couple of the staff. A nurse came in to give her her medications and she asked if we wanted to switch to in-house primary care versus her outside primary care and things like that. She was very nice. She checked my mom's blood sugar and gave her her insulin. My mom had mentioned that there's another staff that, does anything she asks for, and the woman does it right away and finds out for her. It seems like the staff are very helpful and attentive. HarborChase of Naperville is a little bit more than what we were paying before, but the amenities seem to be nicer. "

"Everybody at Sunrise of Naperville North was very nice, very helpful, very friendly, and very welcoming. They wanted to explain everything clearly. The room they showed me was a sample room. It looked well set up and well designed. It had a good, handicapped-accessible bathroom, which was what we need. It seemed wide enough for a wheelchair. It seemed very organized and they had community areas. It was very nicely done. It's kind of expensive though, but the setup was well thought out. They had an area around the building where people could go take a walk. It's nicely done with trees. They had a good variety of food on the menu. It looked well-balanced and it looked good."

"Our mom was lucky to have her first step into community living be at Independence Village. From the moment we met with Nathan we felt like we had found mom’s new home. Nathan was there for us every step of the way as we got her settled in and beyond. Jim and Linda were always so caring and helpful as well. The entire staff at Independence Village is truly amazing. Mom was treated as family right from the start, as were her six kids. We felt so comfortable with her living at the Village; we knew her needs were being met the whole time she was living there. When extra health services were needed, they were easily added with a qualified, helpful and kind staff. The Village is family-owned, which is a huge bonus and has a lifetime rate, so there is never a worry of rent going up every year. The residents seem happy, content and are very well cared for. They are respected and loved. Independence Village has wonderful activities and events planned that keep the residents engaged, fosters a sense of community, and brings them so much joy. Our mom and our family will be forever grateful for the time she lived at Independence Village."

"I loved StoryPoint Naperville, but my in-laws were not interested. I would have given them a five on everything. I didn't have food. I had hot cocoa there, but I thought they were excellent. The facility itself was very upscale. They had a shuttle that ran regularly that would take you anywhere in a ten-mile radius and with their location, that would be anywhere in the Naperville area, basically. I was impressed that of all the places we went to, this was the easiest to get out and about and around to whatever doctor's visits you needed or anything you wanted or any shopping that you wanted to do. My dad is worried about losing his driver's license and they had the best shuttle. It was a very upscale place and they didn't insist on a crazy entrance fee. If you need to move, they also have assisted living and skilled care onsite. If you would ever need to leave, that gave you some flexibility that the others didn't have. I thought it was an excellent facility and very nicely done. It had excellent staff. I couldn't say enough about it. It was clean and well-organized. I liked it a lot. I liked it because you could get out and about where the others sort of tried to provide everything right there onsite. We looked at independent living. I think one of the downsides there was they didn't have a two-bedroom apartment available that we could see and my in-laws were very interested in a two-bedroom apartment, and they were afraid of it being a smaller thing."

"The tour I had at Franciscan Village was very good. It was organized, and caring and had an overarching feeling of a faith community, which was very attractive to both my mom and myself. It just so happens that we're practicing Catholics so that was a connection. They have a chapel and they have mass every day and things like that that my mom liked. We saw an assisted living room and we thought it was very spacious and well thought out, especially the roll-in shower setup. The shower was very spacious and safe so there were no safety concerns for the individual going from a walker right into a standing or seated shower position. It was all flat. The room was very nice. Christine was my tour guide and she was very good. She deserves a good review. She knows her product. She knows the facility. She's been there for at least seven years and she did a great job. The product kind of speaks for itself. It's a very nice facility and it has a faith-based add-on that not all other assisted living and nursing care facilities have. So, the extra thing speaks for itself. She deserves a good review. She earned it and the place earned it, too. She's not selling anything. She's just showing you what it is."

"My wife and I resided here in StoryPoint Bolingbrook, but my wife died. So I am here by myself now. Dan, the executive director, and Dina, the sales director, were incredibly helpful and understanding during that time for my family and myself. Once we moved in, that positive experience continued through the assistance, understanding, care, and love exhibited by the entire staff. This was especially true during my wife's final days. I managed and developed shopping malls across the country for almost 25 years. I say that to underscore my level of knowledge and appreciation of facility construction and maintenance. In this regard, StoryPoint gets the highest marks in all respects, considering the appearance of the physical property, the building and furnishings and most importantly, the cleanliness. I don't mean to leave out any one of the incredible nursing and caregiver staff. They're fabulous, but I have to give special recognition to Miss Jojo and her great dining room staff and the extremely talented and inventive chefs controlling the kitchen. Three meals a day, seven days a week is a daunting task, especially given the incredibly diverse taste in cuisine that the clientele here bring to the table. In my opinion, they put the ball on goal nearly every time. StoryPoint is tops, in my opinion and experience, in just about every phase of the arena of senior citizen living and caring for people with continuing problems as they age. I have a two-bedroom apartment that eventually I would downsize. My wife was very involved in some of the arts and crafts. She used the exercise facility. They did physical therapy there. My main participation is in walking and enjoying the other residents here. The meals are wonderful. There is plenty of activities, as many as you want or as many as you don't want. The staff is wonderful. I haven't run into anybody who I didn't think had the best interest of all the residents at heart, very caring, very responsive to the people's needs, and extremely friendly. I've not run across a sour face yet. The food is amazingly tasty, amazingly well done, well prepared, and well served. This place is in great shape. Based on the inspection that my family and I did before we moved here, I think this is one of the highest values that we could find in terms of what they offered versus the cost."
