"The Woodlands at Canterfield was beautiful. The apartments were fine, clean, nice, and brand new. We met with several people and they were all very nice and professional. They had a bunch of games going. It's brand new so there were not that many people there yet. We saw people in the lunchroom and it looked very nice. The dining area was beautiful. I didn't eat there. My brother and my mom ate there and they said the food was excellent. We met with several different people and overall everybody was great, but some were better than others."

"I had my mom for a short time at The Village at Victory Lakes and they were awesome. They were very good. The food was fantastic. She loved the food. The staff was very caring and very compassionate there. It was very clean. It was more of a home feeling than a hospital feeling. With COVID, a lot of the activities were shut down at this point, and my mom also was in a situation where she couldn't participate in it. She was there for rehab for a while as well as hospice."

"I toured with sales director/tour guide Valentino. He was very knowledgeable and so were the clinical staff. All nurses were very friendly greeted us as we toured. Residents looked happy and engaged. It was very nice. Too bad my loved one passed away and wasn't able to move-in.I would highly recommend."

"I found Victory, and I am now on the waiting list. It’s in the community where I live, and the visit was very satisfactory. The person there was fine, knowledgeable, and answered our questions. The rooms were fine, but I don’t think they have a lot of activities. The community all seemed fine and adequate, and the sanitation was fine too. They have a washer and dryer setup in the living quarters for each unit, and it was very impressive. "

"My mom has been in the Victory Centre for a couple of days now, and they have been very accommodating with my mom in terms of offering to take her to mass. All the people that live there are very friendly, and they have gone through a lot to help her around. It’s a very nice place and clean. She is in a 1-bedroom apartment, and it's fine. "

"It is a very nice place, but it is a buy-in. I'm not interested in that. I am very impressed with it though. The rooms are adequate. They have activities, but they are not anywhere near what I have outside the community. They have a very small library and a craft room. The food is excellent."

"We looked at a studio at The Grand at Twin Lakes, because that was within my friend's price range, and it was a good size and there was plenty of storage. It was a nice little studio apartment. They have a pool, which was nice, and they also have the meals provided. Their downstairs had all the lobbies, the community rooms, dining room, and stuff, and they were more of an upscale hotel. The person who toured us was very helpful and wasn't pushy. She answered questions and she seemed very genuine."

"We toured Theresa's Home Care LLC 1. It was very nice. It seemed very clean. It's a home. It's not like an institution. It's not like a facility, so it's homey, and you get that homey feeling. We only really met with Teresa. There were some nurses there, and the dietary people were there, but we didn't meet them. Teresa was very nice, very welcoming, and warm. They do home-cooked meals. We saw them setting the tables and preparing, because it was getting ready to be dinner time. Their outdoor area was beautiful, with a lot of lawn. They had a recreational area downstairs on that first level where they do bingo or card games, puzzles, and things like that. It's like a mansion. I mean, there's like seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. It's beautiful. The rooms are shared with patients, and I'm not necessarily saying I like that. There is no option for a private room."

"Bickford of Gurnee was really clean and well put together. It almost had a hotel-type feel. The place where they served food looked like a cafe. The rooms were really clean and well-stocked, and they're willing to work with financials. They also have a 24-hour on-call nurse. It's a really good place. The staff was friendly. They have a good ratio of staff to residents, they were pet friendly, and they're within a good location. The supervisor has been texting me, checking in on us, and making sure that we're getting everything done and that everything will go smoothly. They've been very proactive. It had beautiful decor, too. It was really up to date. They provide microwaves and fridges in the bedrooms."

"We put my mom into Gurnee Place Memory Care. I liked it. They provide three meals a day and snacks. They have activities. They try to keep the residents out of their rooms most of the time. They do different things with them, and it is kind of like in a group, and where they usually gather is right when you come in. When I was there last time they were like starting a phrase, and then everybody would finish it off. They were really into that, especially when they said, "Frankly, my dear," and then they all went, "I don't give a damn!" So it was funny. The cost is probably decent considering it's all memory care. It is a little bit on the high side, maybe, but I didn't compare a lot of memory care facilities. I also like that it is furnished and that I didn't need to bring anything. It made it a lot easier. They already had a bed and a dresser or a nightstand. It was all there already. I also like it because there is not a shower in her room. I don't want her to decide, "I'm going to take a shower, so I'm just going to go in there" and then she falls. She showers in a certain location where she can't get into trouble in the room."

"Belmont Village Buffalo Grove was terrific, but they had a limited amount open with the studios and some other family was looking at it. They called me because I was the first one to see it before the other family and we went ahead and declined it because of cost, but it was great. It was beautiful. They had a smaller outside patio section compared to the others that were huge. The studio was beautiful. The salesperson was great. Each room had a kitchen area with a sink and refrigerator. The dining area was set up like a restaurant. They had a menu. They show movies, they have bingo, and they have a room that has activities like flower arranging, cooking classes, and a library. They had computers and printers, which was nice."

"My mom has been placed here. It is an independent living facility, but they also have assisted living and full care. They even have a lockdown section, but my mom is on the independent side right now with her own apartment. She can come and go as she pleases, but they have a necklace pendant that she can press if she either gets lost or gets hurt on one of their trails. There's a ton of activities, and they take her off-site as well, if she wants to go, but they have a lot of stuff on-site. They have a fitness center. They also have drama and games, like bingo. One of the things that she found the most helpful and she really loved is they have game night, where they do either a family feud or password to speed the residents' minds at work. It's just fun to watch her because she tells you when she gets the answers right. There are people right there if she needs help or if she just wants to visit with other residents. She's not dependent on someone to drive her to a senior community center to go to an event. She just goes downstairs and the events are right there."
