"I toured Galloway Senior Living three days ago. I was really impressed when I got out of my car to walk in. There were a couple of older men standing outside smoking a cigarette, and I liked that. I know that means they're not smoking inside, and it's like men's little thing to go outside and do, and that made me comfortable. They were very nice. When I got in, they were playing beautiful music like Frank Sinatra, which is their music. I was greeted at the door by a patient, but he thinks he is security. I introduced myself to him, and he actually danced with me. It was very, very friendly. The secretary at the front desk was smiling, and she said, 'It's okay. He is not going to hurt you, so go ahead.' He said he loves it there. It smelled really nice when you walked in. What I like about them is that breakfast is $5, lunch is $10, and dinner is an additional $5 if I want to have a meal with my brother. They have a gourmet chef on staff, and they offer a wonderful menu. If you don't like what's on the menu, they'll make you something else. It is not a locked-in facility. Of course, they lock the doors at night because they don't want anybody to come in off the road. However, my brother will have his own studio apartment, and he will have his own key, so he can let himself in and out, and nobody can go in there. Everything in the room is all- inclusive, so you don't have to pay for anything. They give you a landline and cable television. Their fee is really fair and very affordable. Because community fees are expensive everywhere, they are willing to work with us on that. I like their amenities. They have a theater, and you can go at any time. They have inside and outside activities. They take people on the bus, and you can go wherever they're taking you that day. They have activities throughout the day, and of course, families are always included, so I like that very much. Also, what was very important to me, every single time I called Galloway, they answered. I never had to leave a message, and hope for a call back, and sit by the telephone. So, they were very attentive. Everybody introduced themselves and said 'hello and we can't wait for you to come in.'"

"The Village at Victory Lakes was a very nice and well-kept community. The people there seemed to care. What I liked least was that it was just too expensive. The staff members were friendly and helpful. The room was kind of small, but for one person, it seemed fine. It was bright and well equipped for older people. They had a little pub and a library."

"I went to Autumn Leaves of Gurnee and they have mailboxes and mirrors to direct them back to their rooms if they happen to get lost. They have an outside garden. The facility was great. The staff was wonderful and took the time to give me a tour and explain and give me a lot of information. They have assisted care, but I went to see the memory care for respite care or daycare."

"Bickford of Gurnee was beautiful, but it was out of our price range. The room had a refrigerator, a place for the microwave, and a kitchen sink. The setup was nice. There's a kitchen area, bathroom, and bedroom. We were looking at studios. There was an outside area, and there was a barbecue out there. It was a nice place. The staff during the tour was new. I think my sister and I were the first that she was presenting to, and she did a really good job."

"We toured Theresa's Home Care LLC 1. It was very nice. It seemed very clean. It's a home. It's not like an institution. It's not like a facility, so it's homey, and you get that homey feeling. We only really met with Teresa. There were some nurses there, and the dietary people were there, but we didn't meet them. Teresa was very nice, very welcoming, and warm. They do home-cooked meals. We saw them setting the tables and preparing, because it was getting ready to be dinner time. Their outdoor area was beautiful, with a lot of lawn. They had a recreational area downstairs on that first level where they do bingo or card games, puzzles, and things like that. It's like a mansion. I mean, there's like seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. It's beautiful. The rooms are shared with patients, and I'm not necessarily saying I like that. There is no option for a private room."

"Pine Brook Pointe was clean. The rooms were a little bit bigger than the other place. It wasn't the director who usually gives the tours, but she was great and pretty knowledgeable about the facility. It was nice looking. The size of the rooms is sufficient. There wasn't much going on. I didn't see any clients."

"My aunt has lived here for a few years now. Everytime I visit, there are always things going on in the main area. It is very home-like and the employees are friendly. My aunt seems to be doing better than ever since she has lived there. I am very glad my sister found this place. "

"I just walked in and they talked to me. The apartments were in good shape. I think I saw the one-bedroom and the studio. It was nice, and it was near the airports. They mingle, watch TV, and play cards. There were people that seemed like they were enjoying themselves. Everything was fine."

"My mom is in Oak Park Place Burlington. She is settled and happy. I'm very happy with them. It's clean, inviting, and safe. The people who work there are lovely and give my mom the attention that she deserves. The food looks good. They have a chef. The tuna casserole wasn't so great. It was dry, but my mom ate everything. She is nonverbal, so she can't give me any opinions. They're always doing activities. It is worth every penny. She was paying the same amount of money in a facility in Morris, Illinois and this is like tenfold better. I felt like she was very neglected at the other place and she was not kept clean and for the same amount of money or just slightly more, she's getting so much better care here at Oak Park Place Burlington."

"I visited Oak Creek Place. First, I was greeted by the woman in charge. Her name was Alison, and she was very friendly. She gave me a lot of information. We did take a tour of the facility. The thing that I liked about it was there were a lot of men that lived there. I'm looking for a place for a man (my cousin). He would have people to speak with and visit with. As a matter of fact, the place had several veterans. He has a collection of military things, so it would be an interesting conversation. I was very pleased with it. The activities were wonderful. There were a lot of daily activities. The menu was good. I could see that he would get very good meals. There was a nice outdoor space. He has a small dog, and there was a place for him to walk the dog. The apartment itself was a 1-bedroom apartment. The kitchen was very nice. The bedroom and the bathroom were very nice. I was a little concerned about the size of the living room, only because he is a collector and needs storage space. I'm not sure about that, but I liked the fact that I was told that he could stay there for the rest of his life; that's important. People don't like to move and move and move. If something happened tomorrow, I would not hesitate to go there. I would recommend people to live there."

"We toured Brenwood Park. It's up-to-date, clean, and I got the chance to meet the business manager. The person who gave me the tour was friendly, knowledgeable, and positive. The dining area was clean and looked good. They just didn't have any Polish-speaking employees, so we didn't go with this place."

"We have placed my grandmother-in-law at Oak Park Place Oak Creek. The price is cheaper. It is a newer and nicer-looking facility. It's one story. We had a family member who was also staying there. The staff is friendly and attentive. Everything looks nice. There's a courtyard, an eating area, and a card room. There are restaurants and stores nearby."
