"Cantata Adult Life Services was very nice and clean. The apartment was very nice. I liked the fact that it had windows in the bedroom and the living room. The facility is small. It has lots of activities, but it doesn't have what the others have. It isn't as expensive as the others, but it's right up there. That's basically where we need to be. The staff during the tour was excellent, and answered all our questions, and gave us information. Everything was great. We were offered food, but we declined."

"The nursing Home is great because it was so nice their and the nurses were so kind to you. At the nursing home they're were several enjoyable activities and entertainment that I loved! I had great time at the spas and the excellent sauna during the winter. I would tell anyone over the age of sixty to come here now. It was one of the greatest place I have ever been to. The beds were the best they were as fluffy as a sheep! I thought they were sheep. At Norwood Crossing I was treated extremely kind. Me and my buddies went there played checkers and relaxed for 2 years. The food was yummy and I loved the broth they served. The soup was also extravagant! My favorite meal of all was the milky mashed potatoes with this amazing gravy. The food was amazing I tell you. My daughter can't even cook as good as them. Now that's saying something because I used to think my daughter was a great cook. another decent thing is that they let relatives to stay for a long time and even lets them stay for the night. Overall I had an amazing 2 years at Norwood Crossing and would recommend it to many people. "

"My parents are in Marian Village. It's very nice and very clean. The residents are all smiling, and they look really happy there. The place is beautiful, and looks like a resort. Everybody is wonderful, the food is great, and they have a lot of activities to do. They take them to the stores and theaters, and have woodworking and crafts."

"My dad has been there twice in the past four months after hospitalization, for PT, OT to get stronger walking. The nursing and other staff are caring and kind and the facility is small enough that the staff really gets to know their patients. This is an older facility so it's not as shiny and new as more modern facilities, but it is clean and adequate. My dad improved well and was able to return to assisted living elsewhere. It's in town location, quiet wooded surroundings, and proximity to my home and my dad's assisted living facility make it pleasant and easy to visit. I am relieved that if he should need short term rehabilitation services again, we have a wonderful caring place for him to get the care he needs. "

"My elderly mother was there for several months recovering from kidney failure. It was a beautiful facility. the dtaff is very young, friendly and energetic. I credit the staff with her full recovery. She enjoyed the social activites that were provided. The therapy she recieved was life saving. she recieved physical therapy every day and occupational therapy 3 times a week. The therapists were patient and understanding. Mom raved about the meals and the staff. At the end of her stay she did not want to leave. she still keeps in contact with some of the other residents as well as the activity director and a couple of the nurses. One of the best facilities in the state of Illinois "

"BRIA of Geneva (Geneva Nursing and Rehab Center) is a small nursing home. The staff is all very good and providing the nursing care that my husband requires. My husband is doing physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. They have activities, like movies, in the activity center. My husband is eating the food there and seems to be very happy with it."

"South Elgin Health Center was probably the cheapest one we've seen, but it was very small and quite old, but they seem to be taking care of the facility. We had kind of a positive feeling about it in spite of the fact that it was pretty old. The one thing is we did ask Alexian Brothers to check with them, and they never answered. I don't know what their problem was. You'd think that if they couldn't take him or maybe his health issues were more severe than they could deal with, they would just say so, but they never answered, and they had put in two requests. I even emailed them twice, and I never got an answer from them either. The rooms were quite small, but they seemed clean and neat. The residents that we saw -- including the ones that were pretty far along in the dementia area -- seemed to be pretty comfortable. But I think they didn't offer as much; maybe that is why they are cheaper. They expected these families to bring in more things like if you want a TV, the family should bring in the TV or that kind of thing. They had several dining areas that looked comfortable and homelike. My daughter and I had kind of a comfortable feeling about it even though it was small and old because it kind of had this comfy feeling, but it didn't work out. They didn't have a secured dementia area. They had an area that was for the dementia patients, but it was not locked away. They couldn't actually get out of the building because they had controls on that, but they didn't have a secured dementia unit. "

"We have been beyond please with Tower Hill. The facility is on the older side but appearances should not mean anything when care is concerned. My loved on what received great care from the staff. They treat her with kindness, compassion and dignity and more like family then a patient. They have a variety of activities to keep her busy and keep her mind active. She has met friends there and talks about some of the nurses, caregivers and therapy staff that she really likes. We would recommend Tower Hill!"

"My friend is a resident of Batavia Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. They call it a rehab center, but they're not doing much to help her. What she's done, she's done on her own. It's clean, and all the people liked the food. They said it's good food. The staff is very attentive. They're awesome people. They are nice and try to meet everybody's needs. When I'm there, I see they help out a lot of people and my friend. They'll help her do things. If they don't have a lot of clothes, they give them clothes to put on."

"My mom is at Sherman West Court right now. It is nice, clean, and friendly enough. I am okay with them; they are taking care of her for rehab, but she will only be there for a short time. I wish they would keep her for much longer, but unfortunately they are strictly private pay, it is not really a long term care facility, and Medicare is not going to pay for it much longer. "

"My mother has moved into Avantara Elgin, and it has excellent care. They're very attentive and she seems to be adjusting very well there. They're very nice there. She seems to be happy there for now and she is comfortable. They have an exercise/ physical therapy room which is very nice. There is an outdoor area where you can bring them outside. I haven't been in the act, but you can see it because it's glass, and you can see it walking by, going to her room. I can see the exercise facility and I can see some of the staff working with some of the people there. They have bingo, painting, and a lot of drawing. They have a lot of different things that they can participate in."

"My dad is at ManorCare right now in Elgin, but I would like to get something that has a little more social activity. They don't really have anything. It is more of a nursing home. I would say they are very nice. They seem to be caring, but there are not enough activities for him. There are just not enough family spaces. There is only one family space. It is so like a nursing home. The reason why I picked it is because of how they took me everywhere and how they treated me. They were so nice. They were willing to meet with me anytime I wanted to talk about anything. They have a really good rehab for his legs. Everybody was very nice. I would say they need to improve on activities to keep them busy. "

"This facility is located in a moderately safe suburban residential neighbor though it sits on a busy street. There are sidewalk paved areas that are moderately to well maintained, depending on how far into the residential area one walks. There is minimal outdoor space available for residents and families. The interior common areas are somewhat limited and not overly welcoming. Staffing patterns vary and at times it seems as if there are not enough staff to meet the needs. The quality of the food is average with some meals appearing appetizing and others not. This facility will accept residents covered by Medicaid and may also accept residents that may have a difficult time being accepted elsewhere. In those instances it could be a more desirable choice than other options. "
