I looked at 13 different facilities for independent and assisted living. I chose Marian Village independent living for my mom in January of 2022. It was the best decision I could make! The staff is absolutely wonderful and the residents are also wonderful. The facility is extremely clean and they have many activities for their residents.

I toured Marian Village. They were a little less expensive, but the place itself just seemed so vibrant, alive, energetic, and bright. The place seemed very new and very updated. When you walked in, you were welcomed by the person at the front desk. The price, I think we could handle. The tough part is they require an entrance fee of $90,000. I have noticed reviews that are not too high, but when I did the tour, they had like a little bistro, and some residents were having omelets and things like that, and the food smelled amazing. They have a lot of events. They had a nice exercise room. They had laundry on each floor and seemed to have more dining areas. They give 400 points per month, and each point is equal to a dollar. You can use those points in the cafeteria or the dining area, and they don't carry over to the next month. They kind of give you an allotment, and then if you go over that, you start to pay. Mary Beth gave me the tour. She knew all the residents. She's very good and very thorough. Everything was so clean. There wasn't a spot on the carpeting. There wasn't a whole lot of carpeting. There was more of the vinyl plank flooring type of things. The dining room was set for dinner, and they had cloth napkins, glasses, and silverware. Everything seemed to be clean. Throughout the whole tour inside the rooms, in the laundry rooms, or the dining area, there was no stale odor or anything like that as you toured it. It was very clean, not like bleach clean or anything like that. It was just a fresh, clean environment.

Marian Village was beautiful and clean. We spoke to Elise and she was very helpful. She showed us around and we met some of the staff. It was a nice place. We were hoping to get my mom there, but assisted living was not for her. The one room that we saw was very nice and spacious. The eating area was very nice, too. The chapel was beautiful. You just got a calming sense when you walked in the door. There was a salon and an activities room. They were very friendly. Everything was very clean and looked brand new.

I could have gone to Marian Village. The only drawback is you have to buy into it. You have to put down $130,000 or something to move in, but that was a very nice facility. The rooms were accommodating and very nice. They had bay windows in the front rooms. I told them I could move in there because it was so nice. The atmosphere was good.

My tour experience at Marian Village was very positive. We were able to look at several different layouts, and we went over to the cottages. The interesting thing about them is that as people are moving out of their units, they are modernizing them. They're renovating them with new flooring and they're moving from carpeting to hardwood floors. It is just extensive upgrading as these units are turned over, which means you're getting a fully renovated new unit. It's beautiful. It's very clean. I didn't see anything that would set any alarms. The staff member who toured me around was very friendly and very receptive to questions about whatever. She was very open and friendly. There's a lot going on. There was a morning social group meeting in one of their lounges. There was an exercise class going on in the gym. They were setting up to play cards. When we went over to the cottages there was no one in there, but there's a nice recreation room. The cottages had patios. A lot of the units in the newer building had balconies. It's a very open area. There's a paved walking path. There's not much around it. It's really out in the country. We looked at the dining area, but they brought us into their bistro, and we had a complimentary lunch. It was excellent. It was very, very good. We ate in the bistro.

My grandmother currently lives in Marian Village. She enjoys it. She is in independent living right now. She enjoys the social interaction with the community events and activities and such. She is active with the chapel there, and the services for the community three times a week. She is also on a few planning committee things for the residents there. I found the staff to be friendly.

This is the 3rd year that my parents have been in Marian Village and it's been wonderful. They're in a 2-bedroom apartment, it's very nice, and with a deck. The staff was just wonderful and very attentive. My mom has a caregiver that comes in the morning and helps to get ready for the day and a caregiver that comes in the evening and helps her get ready for bed. They're independent living but they have assisted care. The only problem is that they don't have memory care there. They are hoping to someday have memory care, but they do not have it at the moment. The food is wonderful, they're always changing their menu, and there are several options. It's delicious. My sisters and I have gone down to dinner with my parents and the dining room is very nice. It's clean and bright, and you feel like you're in a restaurant and not a retirement community. They have a gym with a nutritionist and a physical therapist that works with the people that live there. There's exercise and they teach them what they need to do to keep moving. They also have Nintendo bowling games and bean bags. Every month, they have birthday parties for whoever is born in that month. Aside from all those activities, they have some entertainment there as well. The chapel is also there and my parents enjoy that they can go to mass instead of leaving the building because it's right there.

Marian Village seems like a very good value; a lot is included. This one is run by the Franciscan Community. It's got everything we wanted for mom, especially the washer and dryer in the unit. She doesn't have to walk down the hall, and find out that the washers and dryers are busy and go back to her room. It was a good selling point there. Everything was nice and clean. All the meals were included. She's happy about having a bank onsite, a beauty shop, and a beauty salon there. The elevators and everything are more conveniently placed, and it is easier to move around than some other places. Everything was pretty straightforward. I toured the place first, and then my sister and I took my mom another time to check everything over again. They had a unit that would just be perfect for her. It was a 1-bedroom with a small bedroom/den so you could use it as a small bedroom or as a den. It was perfect. The unit she'll be moving into is close to the elevators, which is great for her. We found that some of the other places charge more the closer you were to the elevators. It was nice that they didn't charge more just because you were closer to the elevators. They have nice safety features and everything. It was important for her to be at a community where there was a church or a chapel. She's going into an independent living apartment, but there is always an ala carte menu. Just in case she likes a little help, maybe with dressing every day or showers every day. You can order that separately. Once we find that she need more services than we realized, she gets the first choice of moving into the wing where it's assisted living rather than someone who's just coming from the outside. She would already be a resident there, so she would get first choice. So overall, it would work perfectly for us. She gets all the safety measures, and she would be wearing a bracelet. If something happened, she could push the button. They would come running to help her. There's also some kind of monitor in the middle of the apartment, so if there was no movement after a while they would check on her. We saw the residents there, and everyone was friendly. I talked to many residents there on my visits asking them how they liked it, and they all loved it in every way. So that's really nice. We feel really comfortable about that. Their facility sits back farther from Route 7. They own a lot of land, so they could still expand even more. They have the option of building more as they need. My husband and I decided that if the day comes, we would love to live there. They have a cottage. They have garden homes for couples or people who still want to manage their own home with their car and garage. You could live in an apartment where you don't ever have to walk outside. They told us that if we would like to sit in the dining room and eat at some point with our mom, we could call and set a time so that they could have us come in there.

We went to Marian Village. It wasn't a tour, it was sitting down in a media conference room and going over stuff with one of the administrators there talking. It was a good visit, we enjoyed it. We went over my mother's possible needs and what they could offer. They gave us good information and we talked about prices. It was maybe a 45-minute meeting, but it was good and very helpful. The staff who accommodated us was very knowledgeable, she was very helpful. She was patient and very pleasant to deal with. They went over the type of accommodations that they have, the price points, and different care levels. They also went over some activities and the meals for the residents. The facility was very nice, everything was very clean, and well manicured. It looked like a modern facility. It presented itself very well from the outside. As you walked in the building, it looked very nice too. It was very clean.

We chose Marian Village because of location, the 2-bedroom apartment available was very beautiful and of right size and it had a good location in the building, and we liked that we wouldn't have to cook anymore. We could have dinner there, but we have a full kitchen and we can cook if we want. The place is beautiful, well run, and very clean. The people are very friendly, and they have a lot of good activities, both on-site and offsite. It is a Catholic organization and it has a beautiful chapel, and we are Catholics. We were very well treated and the lunch we had was very good.

We went on a tour of Marian Village. The rooms were fine, but the whole area of the community seemed like a commercial type property. It was like a motel as opposed to a home; it wasn't anywhere near as cozy as the community we chose. The staff member who gave us the tour was very nice. I saw the dining area and it looked pretty nice as well. In terms of amenities, there was a very pretty chapel.

My parents are in Marian Village. It's very nice and very clean. The residents are all smiling, and they look really happy there. The place is beautiful, and looks like a resort. Everybody is wonderful, the food is great, and they have a lot of activities to do. They take them to the stores and theaters, and have woodworking and crafts.

Marian Village was expensive, but the whole atmosphere, the staff, the graciousness, and the beauty was what I like the most about the whole environment. They have lots of activities, the food is delicious; they serve one meal a day. I would recommend them although it’s a buy-in facility.

Marian Village is a very nice facility, it is clean, and the staff is very helpful. They take them out to movies, to the grocery store, to doctor’s appointments, bingo, crafts, they have people that come in to talk about politics, and they have their own chapel. The facility is run by the Catholics so she doesn’t have to go out for mass, and she is happy there.

Marian Village is nice all around. It’s a little bit far out but I think they have a bus service. The dining room made us feel like it was a restaurant. The type of food that they serve is good and they have a good collection of food. The staff was very good, helpful and accommodating. The rooms were nice and they have access to the outside which is nice. You can go walking.

Overall, a very well organized and up-kept facility. My friends aunt was living there for a few years and she seemed happy with the environment and the staff that was assisting her. The only bone I would have to pick here is the actual age of the staff. It seemed the whole place was being run by teenagers. Packs of them congregated and socialized for an extended period of time that ultimately led to a loss of productivity. There were no adults in sight and it was tough to tell the nurses and CNA's apart. The food was actually quite good and always brought in on time. As far as I know , the medicine was properly distributed and theft was quite rare, which is unheard of in Nursing Homes. Overall, it seems like a great nursing home for seniors.
