"Overall, a very well organized and up-kept facility. My friends aunt was living there for a few years and she seemed happy with the environment and the staff that was assisting her. The only bone I would have to pick here is the actual age of the staff. It seemed the whole place was being run by teenagers. Packs of them congregated and socialized for an extended period of time that ultimately led to a loss of productivity. There were no adults in sight and it was tough to tell the nurses and CNA's apart. The food was actually quite good and always brought in on time. As far as I know , the medicine was properly distributed and theft was quite rare, which is unheard of in Nursing Homes. Overall, it seems like a great nursing home for seniors. "

"My mom was in rehab at Franciscan Village. She's in the rehab building, where she shares a room with someone. It's a little more confusing. They're building now where all the elevators are a little further away; and I know my mom would have had a harder time taking one elevator here another one there. It's a little older. Things were really quiet that day during the tour (maybe it was because of the time of day that all the residents were more in their rooms). They have a lot of property too. It's very peaceful out there, and it's nice. It was a little bit more confusing trying to figure out. My mom's 84. I don't know if she'd ever find her way. I know they seem to charge a little more for those units that are closer to the elevators."

"I would say it is excellent. The layout is very conducive to my mom having to use a wheelchair and needing assistance at times. The care that I've observed is excellent. The staff is extremely friendly, kind, and willing to go out of their way to help. My mom reports that the food is delicious and she has no complaints or concerns. She's in their assisted living and she has used the salon. The woman there was very helpful and accommodating. She even stayed longer to give my mom a haircut so we appreciate that she worked around my mom's schedule. I think it's a wonderful community for someone that needs assistance. It also offers various levels of care. My mom is highly functional, so she doesn't require as much assistance but knowing that somebody is there when she needs assistance is comforting."

"My uncle is in Tinley Court. It is small, and everything is pretty much on one floor. They have a second floor, which is also small. The apartment that they called a studio is really more like just a room with a bathroom. My uncle has been there not even two weeks, and he likes it. He has three meals a day and he thinks the food is good. He likes the people and the staff. The staff is very friendly. They get along well with the residents. I notice that they have exercise every morning, and they do other things, like bingo and a couple of movie nights a week. "

"I visited Clarendale of Mokena. It was a very pleasant visit, we got to eat lunch there, and it was a lovely place. However, it was too far away from home. The lunch was very good. They had a good number of activities and outings. It was a very nice place."

"My father will be moving into StoryPoint Romeoville. It doesn't feel so institutionalized. The facility is nice and clean. The rooms are nice, brand new, painted, with new flooring. They have a man cave, a TV room, a music room, an art room, and a lot of different things. The woman who we dealt with, Alicia, was fabulous. She's been working with us for almost a month now. The building has easy access. It's a nice place. He's going into memory care. After hours, it's locked. I don't think they lock the bedroom doors or the room doors or anything like that. They have a crafts room and a nice big dining room."

"Solstice Senior Living at Joliet is really nice because I'd been here like three or four times before I actually moved in, and they showed me around. Every time we come, the people here are very friendly and say hi and everything like that. It seems like a really nice community, so I like it. The room I have is really nice. It's got a balcony, and I have a nice view out the window. I like it. It's like moving into your own apartment. It is totally independent because there's one of those hotel-sized refrigerators. They said that if you want to bring in your own refrigerator, you can. They said small appliances are okay. However, you can't bring in a stove because you get your meals here three times a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All you have to do is go down to the dining room. If you don't feel like going down there, you can order your food, and they'll put it in a package for you to bring up to your room. They will personally deliver the food to your rooms, but that's only three times in a month that they would do that. Other than that, you can go downstairs, or you can just call and go pick it up. The dining room is beautiful. My son said it makes them think of a cruise ship. The marketing lady, when we were talking about this, said that's the way it is styled. She said if you were to look at the whole building from up high, it is fashioned like a cruise ship. My room is on the second floor. They have balconies, so you can look down directly into the dining room, and it kind of gives you that openness. It's not like you feel like you're closed in. The dining room is so big, and it has that openness to it, so it makes you feel comfortable. They have different-sized rooms. It's really nice. There is a housekeeper who comes every Thursday, and she is really nice. The whole staff is really nice. The place is clean. It's unbelievable. When we were walking around, I noticed this special scent going throughout the building. It smelled like flowers. My daughter-in-law has a sensitive nose to perfumes and stuff, and she said this did not bother her. She said it was pleasant, and she liked it. They have a library, which is down the hall from me. They have a pool table, game tables, puzzles, and they give you a calendar for the month, and it tells you what they're doing that day. Most of the time, it's at least three or four or five different things that they're doing. They have a bus, that if you want to go shopping, they'll take you shopping. They will take you to doctors' appointments. There are several stores that they will take you to. The only thing they don't provide is Wi-Fi. They give you one of those call buttons that you wear around your neck, so if you have any problems that you need emergency help, you can push the button. That's included in the amount you pay. They give each resident one of these. If you press it, it alerts the main desks. The bathroom is a walk-in. Mine has a little lift that you can just walk into the tub. It has bars on the walls for safety. That's important to me. They also have a handheld shower thing."

"We have chosen American House Cedarlake. We like the location and their apartments. It was a fairly easy choice in a way. It was a much nicer location. The staff members were personable. The food wasn't gourmet, but it was fine, especially for a person like me who is losing their taste anyway."

"Everything that we saw at Autumn Green at Midway Village was fine. The apartments were beautiful and spacious. The hospitality on our tour was very good. Melissa was a great hostess. "We are now residents of Independence Village. I love everything. One of the things I appreciate the most is the healthcare. They take my husband's blood pressure and they come right in on their own. I love that. I like everything about it. The food is fabulous. The people are wonderful. The nurses are amazing. The staff can't help you enough; they're just fabulous. It is the best place I have ever lived. I'm happy to be here and so is my husband. It is just so amazing. They're just the best. The whole place is wonderful; the people are wonderful. "After living at StoryPoint as an independent resident for over 2 years, Mom needed to move to Memory Care. The Memory Care unit is small and well-staffed. The staff are excellent, very helpful and capable. They know how to work with residents with dementia and other needs. It is difficult work. The staff are dedicated. I am so grateful to them. That includes the front desk, facilities, and administrative staff, too. StoryPoint is the best place for my mom. "

"The Roosevelt at Salt Creek has a continuum of care. They're under massive renovations. It's not an old building, and the units are nice. We saw a two-bedroom, and it was very clean. They have multiple amenities and two meals a day included in your fee. They are a rental community, not a purchase or buy-in community. We met several of the residents, and the person who gave the tour was very friendly, very personable, and very thoughtful. We thought that when she was giving us the tour, she had our needs in mind. They have an indoor pool. They're getting a new restaurant. Every floor will have a lounge area that is being updated. They have a private dining room, a wine cellar, and exercise rooms. Depending on your needs, you can a la carte any kind of care you want. It was a very nice place. Nothing that's a deal breaker. When we met some residents, my first question to them was, what's the food like? They all said that the food is good. They just had a new chef, and they have a restaurant, and your food is restaurant-quality. There's a food board of residents, along with the chef and the management, to determine what will be in the rotation."

"I visited Brookdale Glen Ellyn. I liked the interviewer. We had a lot of things in common, but when I toured the facility, I was disappointed. There was a corner bedroom available, which would've been nice. When you come in, it's beautiful, it's got new furniture, and it looked very nice, but their facilities were really small. Their pool was very small, and their gym was the size of a normal room. They've got some equipment in there, but it's pretty small. They've got two nice rooms and a big conference room, but the pool table was right there when you walked in. The interviewer said they can't expand anymore. It's kind of old. I didn't meet very many staff except the ones in administration. They seemed very friendly and very nice."
