"Overall, a very well organized and up-kept facility. My friends aunt was living there for a few years and she seemed happy with the environment and the staff that was assisting her. The only bone I would have to pick here is the actual age of the staff. It seemed the whole place was being run by teenagers. Packs of them congregated and socialized for an extended period of time that ultimately led to a loss of productivity. There were no adults in sight and it was tough to tell the nurses and CNA's apart. The food was actually quite good and always brought in on time. As far as I know , the medicine was properly distributed and theft was quite rare, which is unheard of in Nursing Homes. Overall, it seems like a great nursing home for seniors. "

"My mom was in rehab at Franciscan Village. She's in the rehab building, where she shares a room with someone. It's a little more confusing. They're building now where all the elevators are a little further away; and I know my mom would have had a harder time taking one elevator here another one there. It's a little older. Things were really quiet that day during the tour (maybe it was because of the time of day that all the residents were more in their rooms). They have a lot of property too. It's very peaceful out there, and it's nice. It was a little bit more confusing trying to figure out. My mom's 84. I don't know if she'd ever find her way. I know they seem to charge a little more for those units that are closer to the elevators."

"I would say it is excellent. The layout is very conducive to my mom having to use a wheelchair and needing assistance at times. The care that I've observed is excellent. The staff is extremely friendly, kind, and willing to go out of their way to help. My mom reports that the food is delicious and she has no complaints or concerns. She's in their assisted living and she has used the salon. The woman there was very helpful and accommodating. She even stayed longer to give my mom a haircut so we appreciate that she worked around my mom's schedule. I think it's a wonderful community for someone that needs assistance. It also offers various levels of care. My mom is highly functional, so she doesn't require as much assistance but knowing that somebody is there when she needs assistance is comforting."

"Dad’s wife was in a hospital and we had to put him somewhere immediately, so we put him in an assisted living facility called Tinley Court. We considered the location and availability. He goes back and forth to meal time, and other than that, the only exercise or activity he is getting is when one of my brothers or myself go there and take him walking down the hallway or out of the building. They are not there to give him physical fitness; they’re there to assist him in living. "

"I visited Clarendale of Mokena. It was a very pleasant visit, we got to eat lunch there, and it was a lovely place. However, it was too far away from home. The lunch was very good. They had a good number of activities and outings. It was a very nice place."

"My husband and I are residents of StoryPoint Romeoville. The whole staff from housekeeping on up is very, very accommodating and your every problem is solved by them. The service is wonderful. You have one little problem in your kitchen or whatever, they fix it that afternoon. Our apartment is very spacious. We have two bedrooms and I was able to bring all my book and bookcases and things to the living room and I have three huge windows and it's very, very charming with all the light. We have a full kitchen. The only thing that does need improvement is the shower. The bathroom is huge, but the shower is small. Every Tuesday and Thursday, there's music, and they serve hors d'oeuvres and drinks and I enjoy that a lot. There's also a resident-run community store that I just recently started volunteering in, and that's a pleasant experience because you get to meet new people. I'm in a book club and there's a lot of things to do if you're looking for a place to meet new people. There's only one place that people sit and it's right outside the door under an awning. We have a resident garden that's beautiful made by the residents. Every year, they redo it and everybody gets a plot that wants one, and a lot of the vegetables that are planted go into our food, like the herbs and stuff. There aren't enough places to sit outside though. We're very happy here. It's our first move from our home, so I'm pleasantly surprised how much we enjoy it. The reason I chose this place, besides the apartment, is they had a swimming pool. They said you can use it at any time. You could just go to the desk, get a key and grandchildren were invited."

"Solstice Senior Living at Joliet is really nice because I'd been here like three or four times before I actually moved in, and they showed me around. Every time we come, the people here are very friendly and say hi and everything like that. It seems like a really nice community, so I like it. The room I have is really nice. It's got a balcony, and I have a nice view out the window. I like it. It's like moving into your own apartment. It is totally independent because there's one of those hotel-sized refrigerators. They said that if you want to bring in your own refrigerator, you can. They said small appliances are okay. However, you can't bring in a stove because you get your meals here three times a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All you have to do is go down to the dining room. If you don't feel like going down there, you can order your food, and they'll put it in a package for you to bring up to your room. They will personally deliver the food to your rooms, but that's only three times in a month that they would do that. Other than that, you can go downstairs, or you can just call and go pick it up. The dining room is beautiful. My son said it makes them think of a cruise ship. The marketing lady, when we were talking about this, said that's the way it is styled. She said if you were to look at the whole building from up high, it is fashioned like a cruise ship. My room is on the second floor. They have balconies, so you can look down directly into the dining room, and it kind of gives you that openness. It's not like you feel like you're closed in. The dining room is so big, and it has that openness to it, so it makes you feel comfortable. They have different-sized rooms. It's really nice. There is a housekeeper who comes every Thursday, and she is really nice. The whole staff is really nice. The place is clean. It's unbelievable. When we were walking around, I noticed this special scent going throughout the building. It smelled like flowers. My daughter-in-law has a sensitive nose to perfumes and stuff, and she said this did not bother her. She said it was pleasant, and she liked it. They have a library, which is down the hall from me. They have a pool table, game tables, puzzles, and they give you a calendar for the month, and it tells you what they're doing that day. Most of the time, it's at least three or four or five different things that they're doing. They have a bus, that if you want to go shopping, they'll take you shopping. They will take you to doctors' appointments. There are several stores that they will take you to. The only thing they don't provide is Wi-Fi. They give you one of those call buttons that you wear around your neck, so if you have any problems that you need emergency help, you can push the button. That's included in the amount you pay. They give each resident one of these. If you press it, it alerts the main desks. The bathroom is a walk-in. Mine has a little lift that you can just walk into the tub. It has bars on the walls for safety. That's important to me. They also have a handheld shower thing."

"I went to Sunrise Villa Olympia Fields. I enjoyed the walkthrough. They were very nice to me and invited me back for something they were having. The room that I looked at was a studio. They showed me the library, the dining area, and the courtyard. I got a chance to meet a couple of the residents there. They even gave me a little snack. The tour guide talked to me about laundry and where they take you to places on certain days of the week. I enjoyed the whole thing. It was nice."

"It was a very well put together place. They have different levels of care. So in case your parent, who at first was very mobile and able to do things and suddenly went declining, they have it all that right there. They didn't have to move from one area to another area just because their abilities have changed. They could still stay in the same complex, which I thought was great. Their rooms were good and very clean. They're much smaller but it's plenty big for one person. It has areas for a living room, a kitchen, a dining room, a bedroom and a bathroom. The staff was very good and very informative. They were very friendly and helpful and conscientious. We actually had lunch there and the food was good. My mother was with me at that time. She ordered one thing and I ordered another thing so we could sort of taste test them and they were of good proportions and good tasting. They had good variety of food to choose from. For activities, they have all different kind of things. They actually have their own swimming pool and gym for physical activities. They also have arts and crafts room. They would have organized classes on different subjects and they would have activities for people to go out to places. They would take trips to shopping facilities daily. They did have ability to take you to doctors or just local places to go. If anybody wanted to go bowling or to a theatre, they have things scheduled to go like that. This facility was very nice. I thought it was really well set up for people who want to be active. It's also located in a fairly nice area. There's park district right there. On one side, there's a lot of open area and on the other side, they have the apartment buildings. So it's a nice area to be able to walk around and do things and not be alone but yet not have congestion of the city."

"We are now residents of Independence Village. I love everything. One of the things I appreciate the most is the healthcare. They take my husband's blood pressure and they come right in on their own. I love that. I like everything about it. The food is fabulous. The people are wonderful. The nurses are amazing. The staff can't help you enough; they're just fabulous. It is the best place I have ever lived. I'm happy to be here and so is my husband. It is just so amazing. They're just the best. The whole place is wonderful; the people are wonderful. "Sunrise at Fountain Square was our second choice. They were fine and I am sure my aunt-in-law would have been happy there. But price-wise, it was more. "My tour at The Sheridan at Oak Brook was very positive and extremely helpful. I had a friend with me, and a woman named Adi showed us around. She just was patient and explained everything very thoroughly. We saw the areas where card games would be played, their game rooms. They had something I never saw before, a bar, and they could serve light meals there. We saw three apartments, and they were interesting. I think their buildings are only two or three years old. They have white countertops, which are great for seniors. The way the windows work and everything, it's all very well done. The floors are nice and straight, and it has excellent carpeting. They have one thing that I thought is a very good idea. People can come in and change things like the color of the walls or the carpeting, but when they leave, they have to have it restored to its original state, that was nice. The apartments were good sizes and well done. We saw a bus, and they provide transportation at least three days a week. It could be the whole week, but by appointment, and within seven miles. That is very nice, especially for doctor's appointments, and things like that."

"After living at StoryPoint as an independent resident for over 2 years, Mom needed to move to Memory Care. The Memory Care unit is small and well-staffed. The staff are excellent, very helpful and capable. They know how to work with residents with dementia and other needs. It is difficult work. The staff are dedicated. I am so grateful to them. That includes the front desk, facilities, and administrative staff, too. StoryPoint is the best place for my mom. "

"The Roosevelt at Salt Creek has a continuum of care. They're under massive renovations. It's not an old building, and the units are nice. We saw a two-bedroom, and it was very clean. They have multiple amenities and two meals a day included in your fee. They are a rental community, not a purchase or buy-in community. We met several of the residents, and the person who gave the tour was very friendly, very personable, and very thoughtful. We thought that when she was giving us the tour, she had our needs in mind. They have an indoor pool. They're getting a new restaurant. Every floor will have a lounge area that is being updated. They have a private dining room, a wine cellar, and exercise rooms. Depending on your needs, you can a la carte any kind of care you want. It was a very nice place. Nothing that's a deal breaker. When we met some residents, my first question to them was, what's the food like? They all said that the food is good. They just had a new chef, and they have a restaurant, and your food is restaurant-quality. There's a food board of residents, along with the chef and the management, to determine what will be in the rotation."
