"We visited several facilities in the area, looking for the right place for our parents, age 94 and 98. They had lived in their home for 56 years, but it had 4 flights of stairs and was becoming more and more dangerous for them. We were impressed by the compassionate and friendly staff and the engaging and friendly residents as well as by the facility itself. While in their home, Dad had gone to daily Mass until he could no longer drive. He missed that. The chapel in Franciscan Village made it possible for him to renew that daily joy. Because a larger unit was not available when we wanted to move, the Administration at FV offered a smaller unit until the larger one would be available. Further, Franciscan Village has 3 levels of care available--independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing. As it turned out, Dad had a stroke in early March and was moved to Mother Theresa skilled nursing facility. Mom was able to walk to visit him whenever she wanted. It was a blessing. And when he passed a month after his stroke, residents and staff reached out to Mom in any number of ways to help her navigate this tsunami. We're VERY grateful that we found Franciscan Village and moved Mom and Dad when we did. And we're VERY grateful that Franciscan Village is the caring, compassionate place we believed it to be. "

"Clarendale of Mokena was a lovely place. It was gorgeous. The apartments were very nice as well. I only saw one style in the memory care facility, so I don't know any more than that. It was very sufficient, very nice in space, had windows, private bath, light, airy, and very cheerful. I only met one person and she was very thorough. She knew her business of Clarendale, but that's the only person I met, so I can't say much about the staff. She was sales-oriented and was trying to get us to commit to having my mother there and that's the only person I met. They had several outdoor courts and I couldn't experience them because it was fall, but they looked like they had chairs and tables out there and safety measures, so the safety of the individuals were taken into account. They can't get out or in without permission from the staff. It's a very lovely community that they have created, not only for memory care, but just elderly people who do not want to have the full responsibility of their home anymore. They've put a lot of effort into creating social settings for the individuals. It's just that right now the COVID has shut a lot of that down. They can't do a lot of what they are capable of because of the problems that we're dealing with."

"I would say it is excellent. The layout is very conducive to my mom having to use a wheelchair and needing assistance at times. The care that I've observed is excellent. The staff is extremely friendly, kind, and willing to go out of their way to help. My mom reports that the food is delicious and she has no complaints or concerns. She's in their assisted living and she has used the salon. The woman there was very helpful and accommodating. She even stayed longer to give my mom a haircut so we appreciate that she worked around my mom's schedule. I think it's a wonderful community for someone that needs assistance. It also offers various levels of care. My mom is highly functional, so she doesn't require as much assistance but knowing that somebody is there when she needs assistance is comforting."

"I liked that Tinley Court is all on one level. The furniture seemed older. They had a salon, libraries, and places to meet. The one lady that I talked to was friendly. Everything seemed like it was in the 1970s, the furniture and the style of the furniture. They could be updated. The staff showed me everything I wanted to see. The area was isolated. Instead of going up, it's spread out, and the residents could get lots of exercise just walking through the facility through the hallway and stuff."

"I toured this community for my parents. From the minute I stepped in the front door and met Nathan, it was like meeting a best friend! The residents were all smiling and engaged either in activities or with each other! It was such a comfort. Nathan explained with clarity every question I asked and adressed my concerns and anxiety. This is a hard phase for “the child” and he made me feel like part of his family and community!"

"I'm moving here. We went to see a couple of others and this one was about 10 minutes from where I live now. It's close to where my daughters are and they facility seemed very excellent. That was what prompted me to choose this place. It was close to home, close to my family and friends, and they have nice facilities. The facility itself was very good. It has a very good reputation. Their residents were all old, but I also have friends of our family who stayed there and they have the highest praise for this facility."

"I like StoryPoint Naperville, but they did not provide the trial service. They will refurnish or remodel so it will look nice, clean, and have plenty of space for each room. I like that too. They have a bigger garden, and the open spaces were bigger for the people. Besides, they don't need to stay in the room all the time. They have lunch in a bigger restaurant. Because they're remodeling, everything is new. They have a lot of activities. They even have a piano there. When we were there, the staff told me that every morning they have some exercise classes, painting, and one of the residents will teach people piano, and those kinds of thing. They have a movie theater, and they play movies. They have all kinds of things. They also play bridge. One thing: when we were passing the restaurant, it smelled so good."

"Sunnymere was very nice and clean, but it was more like a nursing home. The rooms weren't big. They put two bedrooms together to make it like a suite, so you could have a sofa in one room and your bed in the other. They had a stool and a sink to wash your hands and go to the bathroom, but you would have to go down into a main shower to take a shower. I only saw one shower stall in there. The residents seemed to be having a good time. They were having wine and hors d'oeuvres when we were there. The property was beautiful, and it backed up to a golf course. The staff was very nice. The dining area was nice, and they had a little bar setup. Everybody was very friendly and accommodating. We saw people with needs and some people hopping in their car and going shopping. They offered a full package with all your meals, laundry, and dining. They had movies, activities, and housekeeping."

"Victory Centre of Sierra Ridge was clean and very friendly. I liked the rooms. I liked the activities they had. When I look at a place, I look for the smell, the hospitality, the cleanliness, and the environment. The staff has been following up with me. I didn't see anything out of place. They have a dayroom where they get together."

"Monarch Landing was nice and had a lot of the amenities that I want, like covered parking, a pool, a fitness lab, lots of activities to choose from, and friendly people. I liked the apartments and everything about it. "

"I toured Sunrise Villa Olympia Fields. It is beautiful. It's very, very nice. The only thing that we had a situation with coming out was that what they were asking for was eight thousand dollars, which is not available at the moment. The person who gave the tour was very nice and professional, and I enjoyed talking with her. Her name was Amy. The rooms were very nice, and I had no problems with them. They even reserved a room for us if we decided to stay or apply there. They fed us. It was very nice, and the food was good. The menu was good, and you had your choice of different dishes. I'm very pleased with the food."

"My father is in Jennings Terrace. The care has been good, his room is kept clean, and they have activities going on all week long. The staff is very good. The dining area is well kept and they've always cleaned up really good. They have a big TV for them, a piano, an organ, an atrium where they have birdfeeders outside, a puzzle room, and an activity room where they play games and cards. It's an older facility. They're welcoming and friendly."

"I found Sunrise at Fountain Square to be very welcoming. We liked it because the independent living wing was not too large. The marketing director was absolutely wonderful. The facility was quite lovely. What we really noticed was the openness and friendliness of the residents. We went back there three times and each time there would be somebody walking by who would say, "Are you considering Sunrise? You will not regret it. It's the best thing we ever did. We are so happy here." Men would approach my husband and tell him, "Don't hesitate to come here. You're going to like it, and the food is good." It put my husband at ease that other men were very happy there. They had a whole list of things that they offer for activities, a craft club, a men's club, workout room, exercise classes, and people who come in and do entertainment or presentations. They had a woman there who did a lot of the artwork that's displayed in the hall. It really impressed me. We stayed for a meal, and it was very good. It's easy to find your way around there the way they have it laid out."
