"Making the decision to choose Story Point for our family members new residence was one of the best decisions we’ve made together. Story Point has a wonderful sense of community, residents quickly become your friends, and the staff is exceptional in the care and services they provide. Our family member has the support and manageable lifestyle she needs at this time in her life, and we have the comfort of knowing she is safe in living independently. The apartment is perfect in size and has a spacious open feel to it, with an outdoor balcony for enjoying the beautiful sunny mornings. All the amenities you could wish for are available! There is always something fun happening at Story Point~ live entertainment, movie nights, fitness classes, bible study, Coffee Club, Happy Hour… just to name a few. One of our Mom’s favorite things is the wonderful dining. The chef and culinary staff are exceptional and create delicious, creative meals to enjoy. Every week she raves about her favorites and as a family we have enjoyed their monthly Sunday brunches together. Convenient amenities, engaging activities and it’s friendly & supportive community all make it a beautiful place to reside, as well as visit. We highly recommend!"

"I chose Tinley Court for my mother, and she's moving in next month. First of all, they accept small pets, and the person that I worked with was very friendly and answered all questions that I had. The place was very clean, updated. The rooms were a decent size, the closet space was good for her. The only thing was that they did not have a refrigerator or microwave in the room for her, but we can bring one in, so that helps out as well. They gave us a sample menu with items that my mom likes. We just chose it because it was clean, open, and the price was reasonable. This is affordable for us because it's based on my mom's income only. The community fee that we had to provide was reasonable as opposed to all of the others. There was no way she would be able to afford many of the others because of the cost, as well as they provide three meals where some of the others only provided two, so she would be on her own for the other meals. That was a big factor for us because she is partially blind, so we didn't want her to have to fend for herself for other meals as well, and it was all on one floor for her, so I felt that works out well too. Out of all of the facilities I've called, only one of them did have someone that did sign language, but that was, of course, the most costly one. So, unfortunately, we did not send her there. She's going to be moving into the studio in January, but she is on a list to move to an alcove room, which is kind of a one-bedroom. It just doesn't have the door in between, but her bedroom. So it's all going to be a little bit bigger, but she'll be moving into that in a couple of months. They do have a beauty salon and they do have different activities. They do use their mealtimes as their wellbeing check, they do ask that if you leave the facility, just to give them a heads up so that they're not looking for you. They are allowing us to bring in a special kind of doorbell because she can't hear when they knock. So when they knock, there's a light that goes on in the room, so they're allowing us to bring that in. They do have a library with lots of books. They do have a community room where they have games and things, so when my nieces and nephews go to visit, they can go play games and stuff with my mother. They do have laundry facilities on-site, so you can do the laundry yourself where you can pay for the amenities to have laundry done. They do have housekeeping once a week, which is very helpful because some of the others were only biweekly. My only concern is their walkway and their doorway entrance are not completely lighted. So it's very dark, and with my mom's vision being that, it's just not -- they have pathway lights, but there's just not enough lighting when you go in the evening."

"My mother has been here since November of last year. The rooms are nice, and all the staff are very friendly. She has no complaints. Everything is really good, and she has enjoyed all the meals."

"We went to Victorian Village. The staff were very nice, answered our questions and they would call back. The rooms were very nice and clean and they were big enough for what we need."

"Marian Village is a very nice facility, it is clean, and the staff is very helpful. They take them out to movies, to the grocery store, to doctor’s appointments, bingo, crafts, they have people that come in to talk about politics, and they have their own chapel. The facility is run by the Catholics so she doesn’t have to go out for mass, and she is happy there. "

"Village Green Active is a fine, excellent, caring community that keeps the residents involve in all sorts of activities. They have transportation, breakfast, laundry, doctor and programs throughout the week. "

"I visited the independent living community of Vita Luxury Apartments on Grant. The appearance is fine. They have a great entrance going into it. I've been there thrice, and I didn't see any outstanding issues at all. The person who accommodated me during the tour was helpful with whatever questions I came up with. There wasn't too much of a wait, and he's also dealing with my application at the moment. I was looking for a pet-friendly place, and they are a pet-friendly place. I saw that they also have a small gym and a swimming pool. It's independent living, so you prepare your own food. It's a fairly new facility, so most of their stuff is basically new or just a couple of years old."

"Hartsfield Village is very clean, very new and very modern. They also have assisted nursing in a separate building, which was also very nice and very clean. It didn’t smell. They had a lot of activities for their people. Nice amenities and they had a lot to offer the residents. The only thing they didn’t have there was a Catholic mass. You have to go off site to see your physician which is nice to have a doctor that comes to the facility. We did talk to the staff and we did see some of the residents. The staff was very friendly. We ate their food, and it was excellent. It had a beautiful dining room. The rooms were very nice and they had beautiful common areas in several locations on every floor. Big, wide open areas with big flat screen TVs, nice couches and chairs, and then they had little game tables off in the corner where you could play cards. They had free beverages like in the laundry room, they had a little refrigerator and they had juice and water available to all the residents all the time. It was a very place. "

"My father is a patient at The Skilled Rehab Nursing Facility. It's a nice small center. My father has received great care and his getting stronger after his stroke. He gets to make choices on his meals which he really likes; and if he doesn't like what is being served they have alternate choices. Friendly and helpful staff. "My mother will be moving into Kirby Manor Apartments. It's a senior community but it's not assisted living. It's independent living. My mom currently is living off of Social Security only, so it's based on your income and it's very reasonable. It is an independent living, so you have to be able to provide for yourself. Even though it is a community of seniors of 55 and over, you still have to be able to clean and bathe yourself. They have daily activities. It is two floors, so there is a laundry facility on both floors. They have a treadmill and exercise bikes and stuff like that. They have a small facility room for that. They have a reading room, a puzzle room, and their actual dining room. They can either dine with other people or they can dine in their own apartment. They serve you and they have a menu there. They have a chef on-hand that does the catering there. They had one-bedroom and two-bedroom, and we looked at both. The one-bedroom was very adequate. There's plenty of room. It has a kitchenette that goes into the living room, and the bathroom is wide enough. They had a closet space and it's perfect for independent living. Those that don't want to be a burden on their family but want to be able to live by themselves, it's perfect for that. They have haircutting once a month. Somebody from the outside comes and they set up for haircut appointments. They had an outdoor area and a little patio terrace that looked very cute. As far as cleanliness, it was pretty well kept. It's a little older, but it was still clean. The lady during the tour was very friendly and very informative. The maintenance guy was very upbeat and friendly. It's an older facility, but there was no chipping paint or anything like that."

"Lake Park Senior Apartments was very nice. Everything was updated and it was decorated very nicely. I got to see a room and it was beautiful. They also had like a separate villa on the property (several of them). The villas were beautiful, too. The property manager I met was excellent. They also had activities."

Lester's place is located in East Chicago Indiana. The property is a 5-unit apartment building with 2 levels of stairs. The property is newly remolded. Each united is fully furnished with all utilities paid. The bedrooms are shared living with 2 people per room. There is a total of 11 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms on the property. There is a TV in the living room that has streaming channels for our guests. There is free Wifi for guests to log into. We supply bedding for our guests who require assistance. The property is close to restaurants, and bus transportation. The property is 25 minutes from downtown Chicago. The units are professionally cleaned once a month.

"Wittenberg Lutheran is newer and nicer facility. The rooms were big and the staff seem to be more attentive. "

"Victory Centre of River Oaks was nice, but it was a little far for us. They have pretty much the same things like outings, they take them out to eat, and they have board games, Bible study, and other things to keep them busy. They have a daily schedule, so they keep them busy. The staff was very patient with me, and she answered all my questions and called me back when she said she would. She was really helpful and informative. "
