"I recently visited Residences at Coffee Creek to visit with an old friend who now lives in the memory care there. I was so relieved to see how well she is doing. She was so distraught in her home a few months ago, this is such a better fit. The place is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. Her apartment has a nice view of Coffee Creek and when I was there, multiple staff members checked in on us to make sure she was ok. I was impressed and feel she’s in great hands."

"StoryPoint Chesterton was very nice. The price is kind of high, and the apartment is very small. You can walk around anywhere, but the living quarters itself, for a one-bedroom is pretty small, compared to what I have right now, but their room comes furnished. Although you have a bedroom, a living room, and a bathroom, in the long run, you would prefer to live in a home where there's a little more room. The facility is very nice. They have wonderful sitting areas, a fireplace, piano, meeting room, exercise room, but no swimming pool. In the apartment they had a washer and dryer, and a kitchen. It's a very lovely community. It's beautiful. They do a temperature check, and only two guests are allowed to come in at a time, When you live there they have a computer area, WIFI area, and all kinds of stuff."

"Tinley court is fantastic, and I can’t wait to get in there. Everything there is great, the people are wonderful, and I’m moving in soon. She took us around and told us the all things they have, and I have a list of everything they do. They have Bingo, Bunco, and all kinds of stuff."

"We were very happy with it. My father-in-law just stayed there for a few weeks while his wife was having surgery done, and he's back home now. It was very nice. Nice facility. Nice staff. We were very happy with it."

"My mother has been here since November of last year. The rooms are nice, and all the staff are very friendly. She has no complaints. Everything is really good, and she has enjoyed all the meals."

"Clarendale seemed very upbeat, and very bright. The setting was ideal. They have views of the lake, and they have views of the tree line. They back up to some wetlands so nobody will build right behind them on either end and side. It was just a pleasant experience. We talked about assisted living and independent living where we thought it would be great, and ideal that if my sister progressed, they would move her into independent living if she got past the assisted living guidelines. The person who gave me the tour was very upbeat. She was humorous, and she was great to work with. The rooms were very nice. We saw different sizes for different situations. The downfall of both of these is that she would have to go up on the elevator, and she is not a person who rides elevators because she's very claustrophobic. So we're going to have a hurdle to overcome in any of these places that we've seen. The rooms were more than adequate, and they had windows that brightened up the area. They did give us a complimentary pecan pie, those little ones. I don't know where it came from, whether it was there, or somewhere else, but it was very good. They have a movie room where they have popcorn and sort of like a theater. They have the bingo and board games going on. They have a bar that you can go in and socialize with other people. They have the bistro where if you don't want a hot breakfast or a hot meal, you can go and get a sandwich or whatever, they're at the Bistro and eat. They provide tables out there. There's a cafeteria, and it looked adequate and clean. At the time we were there, I didn't see any personnel, I just saw the people in there eating, and they seemed to be enjoying everything. They have a pool table, which doesn't interest her, but it's there. They have the physical therapy people that are there. They have the beauty shop. There are a lot of things provided. I really liked it. It's a little overpriced in my opinion. It is the highest priced-one we've looked at."

"My mother-in-law has moved into American House Oak Park. She's getting assisted living. I like the fact that they keep her busy. They have different activities. She's met quite a few of the residents. They have an exercise class. They have a reading club they do together where they all read the same book and they discuss it. They have a Bible study. They do quite a few things. She's in a one-room apartment, and she has a refrigerator and she doesn't have a stove. She has a refrigerator and a microwave, just the essentials right there in her kitchen. She's got an area where her bed is. She's got a nice big walk-in closet. The bathroom is nice. The bathroom has a roll-in shower where if she was on a walker, she could just roll the walker into the shower and it's a big bathroom. It's got a shower, a toilet, and a sink with the vanity. There's plenty of room. If someone was in a wheelchair, they could maneuver in the bathroom. There's plenty of room to do what they need to do and roll it in and out of the shower. She likes some of the food. She's picky. There are some things she likes and some things she doesn't like. They play games. She loves the different activities. It's more expensive than some of the other ones. They'll take them on the bus, and then they'll take the residents to different outside activities, so they can get out of the building."

"We went to Victorian Village. The staff were very nice, answered our questions and they would call back. The rooms were very nice and clean and they were big enough for what we need."

"It was not difficult at all to enter in The Clare because their occupancy was only 40% or so. So, you could easily get into independent living. But once you were in and you declined to actually go to assisted living and end up to the nursing home facility which were all in the same building. It's pretty difficult because their nursing home does not had enough beds relative to the people who were healthier and don't need nursing facilities in that point in time. The Clare charges a hell of an upfront fee and you would find high quality arts on the wall. So, it's meant for clientele that were at the moment reasonably healthy and want to be near Chicago Symphony, the Arts institute, the History Museum, the Aquarium. So, it's a great location for those who were wealthy enough to enjoy what Chicago has to offer. So, people would go there because it's fancy and if they could afford it and they had that kind of liquid cash, they were setting up for when they get old later. So, they were living in a convenient location, then they don't have to go anywhere if they need assisted care. "

"We did a tour here. The staff was great; however, the room is really small. The staff was awesome; I loved every one of them, and it was just great. It's just, the rooms were too small. It was perfect, clean, and it was nice. The neighborhood seemed fine, even if you went outside. It was nice, you could go outside and just sit, and it was perfect. Everything inside was perfect, it was clean where you could set and go, it was perfect other than the rooms were too small. We were there during lunchtime, and we were hungry. They just gave us free coffee and a free pie. I would go there just for that."

"Marian Village is a very nice facility, it is clean, and the staff is very helpful. They take them out to movies, to the grocery store, to doctor’s appointments, bingo, crafts, they have people that come in to talk about politics, and they have their own chapel. The facility is run by the Catholics so she doesn’t have to go out for mass, and she is happy there. "

"Village Green Active is a fine, excellent, caring community that keeps the residents involve in all sorts of activities. They have transportation, breakfast, laundry, doctor and programs throughout the week. "

"I visited the independent living community of Vita Luxury Apartments on Grant. The appearance is fine. They have a great entrance going into it. I've been there thrice, and I didn't see any outstanding issues at all. The person who accommodated me during the tour was helpful with whatever questions I came up with. There wasn't too much of a wait, and he's also dealing with my application at the moment. I was looking for a pet-friendly place, and they are a pet-friendly place. I saw that they also have a small gym and a swimming pool. It's independent living, so you prepare your own food. It's a fairly new facility, so most of their stuff is basically new or just a couple of years old."

"Hartsfield Village is very clean, very new and very modern. They also have assisted nursing in a separate building, which was also very nice and very clean. It didn’t smell. They had a lot of activities for their people. Nice amenities and they had a lot to offer the residents. The only thing they didn’t have there was a Catholic mass. You have to go off site to see your physician which is nice to have a doctor that comes to the facility. We did talk to the staff and we did see some of the residents. The staff was very friendly. We ate their food, and it was excellent. It had a beautiful dining room. The rooms were very nice and they had beautiful common areas in several locations on every floor. Big, wide open areas with big flat screen TVs, nice couches and chairs, and then they had little game tables off in the corner where you could play cards. They had free beverages like in the laundry room, they had a little refrigerator and they had juice and water available to all the residents all the time. It was a very place. "
