"I had an in-person tour of Majestic Care of Saint Anthony. It's very nice, and it's not as expensive. They have activities there. They have bingo and a barbershop. I like the idea that it's right at the hospital, so I don't have to go very far to go to a hospital. The facility looks very clean. The staff was very nice, she's very, very cheerful, and sounds like she's a very nice person to be around. The dining room looked very nice. I like the location too. I feel very good about the community. It felt very homey."

"My grandmother moved to Two Hearts Homes for Seniors - Crown Point. It's a small community of only 15 bedrooms. The number of caregivers to residents ratio is awesome. The caregivers there make the food for the residents. It's got a big open-concept kitchen, dining room, and living room, so they all eat together in that same room. They watch TV together. It's family-owned and operated. The owners have been great to work with. The administrative team has been great to work with. It's more of a home setting than a facility setting. It's just a family vibe. The staff is very outgoing and tends to go above and beyond. There's a small number of residents. So, they can take the time to get to know the people. It's very intimate. The facility is clean. The facility is brand new. They just sent me a picture of my grandma painting a coaster today. The whole building is in the shape of a U. At the bottom of the U is like the living room, the kitchen, and everything else. Then the branches of the U, the one bedroom, the large studio apartments, and they have a nice bathroom and nice-sized high ceilings."

"I have been living at Brentwood at LaPorte since December. I had hard time adjusting because I'm away from my father, however, I am fairly enjoying the place now and the people here are just tremendous. The staff are excellent. They are just so wonderful. They are very kind in every way and they want to be helpful. I never had a problem with the staff but with some of the residents that are here, but somehow that has seemed to suddenly be better. I am so amazed with their food because I know they have to be on a budget, but everything is very tasty and very well-seasoned. I was very glad that I chose this facility. "

"My sisters was a resident there. We could not have asked for better care, services or kind hearted people. The food was amazing especially after she had been in the hospital for weeks. Her first comment after eating the chef's breakfast was, can I have more! music to our ears! Every single department contributed to the amazing experience. "My mother's staying at Settlers Place. I am satisfied with it. The rooms and apartments are fine. The dining area and the food are very adequate. They take them to concerts and play bingo. They do a lot of things for them and have a garden and a small library room. The staff is very helpful and caring. It's clean there. "

"Really liked the "home" feel of Two Hearts. It doesn't feel at all like a facility or a hospital. It was hard at first having Nan away from home, but this made the transition much easier. Everyone is so friendly and caring. The owner was so kind and made sure ALL of our questions and concerns were handled. The staff is always helpful when we visit. Nan loves that she can have others to visit with and company any time but also have her own space. Its small enough that you still get that one on one care, but big enough that they have activities, assistance, meals, laundry, etc. Personally one of the things I liked the best was how much they do for holidays and birthdays. Nan always loved the holidays and decorated and we always did a lot! They do crafts and have treats and ... well I don't have to worry Nan feels alone. The staff at Two Hearts has really become a second family and I am very grateful for that! "

"Victory Centre of South Chicago was a lively place. The staff and the rooms were very nice. It almost had a hotel feel to it. The young lady took me around and showed me their activities and they have a lot going on. She was telling me about a prom night coming up in May and a casino night in June where friends and family could come in and play some games. They had a lot of people that were in the lobby area and everybody looked to be enjoying each other's company. It was nice."

"Pines Village had a more of a home feeling. They have gardens and pines, bus service and a small cafe. They have aging in place and whatever apartment they live in they can be independent residents and if they need assisted living they can stay in the same apartment. My aunt and uncle have a one-bedroom apartment with a patio, small kitchenette and a large handicap bathroom. They have PHBs that the residents wear and if they need help they can push the PHBs. They have aides, nurses and case managers 24 hrs a day. They have chef prepared food, outings to different places, theaters, casinos and they have church every Sunday. I can't say anything bad about Pines Village. "

"My parents are residents of Aviva Valparaiso. Most of the staff was very nice. I ate there. They have lots of choices of food. The food is good. The facility, it's nice and clean. It's pretty much updated. They have all kinds of activities. It is a lot of money, but you're getting a lot of stuff. It had a nice atmosphere. My mother has Alzheimer's. So if she progresses, she can still be in the same building but be in the memory unit, which is right there. So we don't have to move her."

"I toured Avalon Springs Health Campus. I like the openness. I like the care that I saw being given to two of the residents. I like the amenities, the menu, and the activities. Everybody I talked to was friendly and nice. The rooms I saw were very orderly. They had a dining area. When I was there, all the women were dining and they seemed to be having a good time with each other, visiting and eating. I met the rental staff, and she was really pleasant and courteous and able to answer questions."

"My dad was in Symphony Chesterton for rehabilitation, and it was very nice. He was in rehab, so his room was just a basic room, nothing fancy, but it was clean and nice. He had heart issues, so they have him walk and do things like that. There were just strengthening therapies. The staff was nice and cooperative. They did try to get him out of there as soon as possible, but I didn't feel he was quite ready to leave. They were good with activities. They had a nice dining room, they had a lot of extra activities for them to do, and they had get-togethers that you could attend if you wanted to."

"Green Oaks of Valparaiso was spotless, and the people there were friendly. I liked the staff I talked to. They were very nice. I talked to a few people, and then we ate there. They gave us lunch, and it was good. Really, really good. So I would rate this community very highly. The staff who gave the tour was really nice and very informative. The rooms are beautiful. There are mostly one-bedroom apartments and studios. They have no two-bedroom. It's a fairly new place. It's only a couple of years old. The facility is really nice."

"I chose it for my parents because it is within 5 miles from where I live. In fact, they have just moved in about a month ago. I like what they offer and I think this is a safe place for them. This place is wonderful. My parents can go everyday and have one meal in their assisted living dining area. There are also a lot of activities that my parents can participate in. The staff members are wonderful people. They really care for their residents and everybody is treated like a family there. The facility itself is very clean. It is just three years old and their little homes are all new. It was a major transition for both my parents and they are missing their home of 44 years, but they're satisfied in this facility and so far, so good."

"We toured Miller's Senior Living Community of Portage. That place was over and above excellent. The grounds were beautiful. The inside was very clean. They even had an ice cream parlor inside the place, it was nice. The room was beautiful. The staff who toured me was very nice, very approachable, and well-knowledgeable. The dining area was clean. Everything was impeccable there. I would have picked that place, but this other place was closer, and it was a little bit cheaper. They have bingo as an activity. They also have days when they take them out to do shopping and field trips."
