"The Grand is a hidden "Gem" the 1 bedroom apartment was huge and beautiful - You can fix a King size bed and bed room set, the bathroom had double sinks and step in shower, the kitchen was big and open with a lot of cabinet space, dishwasher, stove and refrigerator and microwave. The Grand provides 3 meals a day, there is a pool, exercise room and a BIG Theatre. The Grand Bar is open daily from 3-5 and The Grand is pet friendly. "

"I toured it and that was lovely. It seemed very active, too. A lot of things were going on when I was there. However, religiously my mom is very Catholic, and there's a majority of Jewish people there, so it just didn't seem like it was going to be a good fit permanently. The place itself was lovely, and the people and the residents seemed like they were happy and all that, so that was good. The apartment was nice too."

"We decided to visit Vi at The Glen assisted living facility as we really liked the area and it is convenient for my friend's family. We were looking for a place for her aunt to live. The outer grounds featured lovely courtyards with very nice landscaping and seating areas. We liked that was formerly a Hyatt property. Its design is stunning and has always been enhanced and well maintained. Since it was a hotel - it has all of the amenities and has retained all of the beauty. The entire design and decor had an open-air feel. The high ceilings made it very elegant. The lounges and activity rooms were all nicely decorated and easy to access. The living spaces were well-designed and spacious and decorated tastefully with a homey, light and airy feel. Bathrooms were designed with safety seats and rails. Each unit has nice views of the surrounding area. The dining rooms reminded us of a fine dining establishment. The food was what you could find in a five star restaurant with a very nice variety. The library was stocked with many great books. The activities ranged from board games, to discussions, private reading and watching film and TV. The outside activities they plan regularly include everything from visiting local restaurant favorites, the public library and movies - to day trips to nearby regions. They offer planned exercise classes - but also encourage a variety of different exercises. The staff is able to take care of a variety of types of people, from those who are not ambulatory - to those who have memory issues. There was plenty of professional, yet friendly staff to take care of basic needs. All of the areas were pleasant to be in and we could see that the residents thought so, too. We are glad we took the time to look at this facility and could recommend that others check it out as an option for their loved ones. "

"The nicest thing is the location for my husband. It's downtown and in a nice town. It's very open, there's a big social area, and every apartment is different. They have a lot of choices. Everything has been real good so far. They're very helpful. The dining area is nice and laid out nicely, and the food is average. He plays bingo, and they have live entertainment."

"It is clean, the people are friendly, and the staff takes care of my mother. She's very happy and enjoys the place very much. The people there all seem pleasant and she has had no complaints. Her room is basically like a hotel except you furnish it yourself, and she has a small kitchenette. They provide three meals and they have a bus that takes her into town so she can go to Walmart or get a haircut if she wants to. They also have a haircut facility in the community as well. My mother also likes the food. They could use another elevator. It's a three-story building with lots of people and only two elevators, and everyone uses the elevators. They go on outings and trips, bingo, and other activities."

"I saw Legacy Crossings right after they were bought out. It was impressive, but they took away the dining area. Everybody has to cook in their own rooms and stuff like that. The rooms themselves seemed adequate and clean. They never shut down. They just changed their name from one facility to another. They were at the beginning stages of converging to their new ideas, and it showed a lot of potential. Everything looked clean. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. On the first floor, they were taking out the existing dining room and they were going to put a movie theater in. They were only renovating the first floor. There was a gym and a barbershop."

"The best part of living at Discovery Village Des Plaines are my fellow residents and the staff. As opposed, at my age, living alone--here I always have something to do and enjoyable people to do it with. I look forward to having you come join us!"

"When I walked in the front door of Belmont Village Glenview, I immediately felt at home. It felt welcoming. It did not feel sterile. It felt comfortable. One thing I was impressed with is that they have such longevity in staff and most of their people have been there 10 plus years. They have physical therapy, which was very important to me. They also have a book club, and movie nights, bingo, and they have activities where you can sign up and be taken off the premises like field trips."

"It is a very nice facility. There seems like a lot of activities. The residents seem very happy. There's a beautiful outdoor area next to a golf course and a pond. The apartments look very nice and seem reasonably priced. The staff who took me around was knowledgeable and nice. She answered all our questions."

"It was the one I liked. The whole place was impressive, big, and had a beautiful lobby. The person that took me around and showed me the room was a very nice, friendly lady. I had a good feeling about the place. They had bingo, cards, a ping-pong table, Wii bowling, and a pool. People came in to entertain the patients by singing or just talking. They just had everything there. They served three meals a day. You could drive to doctors if you had a car, but they also had a shuttle that took people to their doctors’ appointments, Wal-Mart, or Walgreens."

"Clarendale Algonquin is very nice. I'm very happy here. They have a lot of activities. Their food is excellent. The people are friendly. The staff is wonderful, courteous, knows everybody's names, and greets you all the time. They show movies, do exercises, and have games. They go to outside restaurants. "

"I think its dining area and rooms are very good. The grounds are very well kept. They have a church and a nurse that visits the rooms. They also have activities, like bingo, holiday parties, and different things like that."

"The Woodlands at Canterfield was beautiful. The apartments were fine, clean, nice, and brand new. We met with several people and they were all very nice and professional. They had a bunch of games going. It's brand new so there were not that many people there yet. We saw people in the lunchroom and it looked very nice. The dining area was beautiful. I didn't eat there. My brother and my mom ate there and they said the food was excellent. We met with several different people and overall everybody was great, but some were better than others."

"The Merion was at the top of my list. I met the sales person. He was very friendly, very open, and answered all of my questions. He was not a hard sell at all. The apartments were a little disappointing, though. The older building was less expensive but you're also paying for a furnished apartment. The new section was very modern, which I really liked, but it was a little bit more expensive. For the meals, they surpassed the other community. The food was excellent. Also you can eat at any of one of their restaurants, which all serve something different. They have a piano or a bar lounge, which is open to the public. They allow them to come in and enjoy meals, drinks, and music. It is more open, so it's a big plus."
