The Best Nursing Home Communities in Kenosha County, WI

"My brother is currently at The Bay at Sheridan Health and Rehabilitation Center. They seem to be doing OK taking care of him, but it seems pretty crowded there. I've seen the food that they serve, and it looks fine to me. We bring him pizza and sandwiches now and then because some days he doesn't like the food and some days he does. The staff has been polite. They do call if there's a problem. I think they're doing their job. There was one nurse who I liked, but she quit. They're very busy. They don't seem to have enough staff. Sometimes the phone doesn't get answered."

"I'm currently living in St. Joseph Villa inside St. Joseph's Homes and Rehabilitation Center. I chose them because of the price. They provide options for the food: you can cook for yourself or you can have your food brought directly from the nursing home to your apartment, either way it's good. But I cook for myself, I like it that way. The nursing home is gigantic. The people are very, very nice and there are a lot of activities. "

"We visit this location frequently as my mother in-law currently having rehab from surgery. Upon walking in always greet with hello and asked if we need any help/like information on progress of my mom. Nurses/CNA are very friendly and Grande Prairie hallways always smell so clean like home but in hospital type setting. Even Dietary staff at Grande Prairie are outstanding my mom has dietary restrictions they make sure everytime she receives her food it done wright no mistakes. One dietary Aide even went out her way wish my mom happy birthday make sure sang her song. "

"We tried to get my mom into Ridgewood Care Center, but the facility where she is now wouldn't budge. The staff was fantastic. The food was good -- everything was good. She was comfortable there. They were very helpful and courteous. They answered every question I had about my mom, and they took care of her very well. The rooms were nice. They had their own TV and stuff. Nice dining room, and they had birds in the sitting room; it was a gorgeous place. When I did go down there, they had events, and they were out in the dining area. They were playing music, and they brought people in. It was clean and nice, they were very good with my mother, and the staff was very nice. In general, everything was nice. "

"Rolling Hills is very nice, but their rooms are a bit small, and they don’t have a room with a double bathroom. The staff is excellent. The dining rooms are several clusters at the end of the hallways. They have it all, from independent living to skilled nursing. "

"when we went to lincoln luthern to check things out we were greated by a nurse who helped us with everything, she was very caring. the facility itself looked very clean and looked like the whole place ran very smoothly with barely any problems, we went home and thought about putting her in that facility , so after checking around a little bit that facility seemed to be the best fit for my great aunts needs. she is doing very well in the facility, but being a facility of that nature it is very sad going into that kind of enviornment, i think putting her there was a really hard decision for everyone, but everything will be fine in the end. "

"My mom was in The Gardens of Mount Pleasant. The best I liked about them was the fact that the people came out and they paid attention. They do their round and they take vitals and they're off doing their job. And those people are more alert, but they are still doing vitals and doing their job. And they were the ones who discovered my mom was sicker than anyone knew from her coming from the facility in Kenosha. They don't even have a constant on-site nurse, but they knew enough to keep their job done and go beyond. My mom never complained about their food. She likes it there. On the outside, it was just as beautiful as the inside and well-kept. And they had hand sanitizer. When you first walked into a room, it was just as big as the other place. They didn't have two residents there. It's only her room, you go straight in, and she had a bed to the right, a dresser, and the TV. And then on the left was a nice chair she sat in. There was a big, nice window where she could see a view, and a nice yard. I believe they had everyday things like bingo. I know with the itinerary that was given out, that was pretty full. They have something every day for their residents."

"I already placed my father in Grove at the Lake. It’s very clean. It is in the area where my father is. They have 5 nurses for every shift. They are very attentive to their patients. They personalize and they call everybody by their first names to make them feel warm and welcome, so it is very good. He has only been there for about a week now, but everything so far is great. "

"We were very happy with Oak Ridge Care Center. It was clean and they were very caring and very nice to their residents. My husband was there and we were pleased with how everybody was so friendly and helpful. Every time you called, somebody would pick up the phone and get your questions answered. You can have your choices there. They ask you all kinds of questions if you would like to see a pet or if you want or what kind of diet you have. Everything was well taken care of. The food was good, too."

"I was impressed by the WI Veterans Home - Boland Hall. It was well-lit, clean, and spacious compared to where my uncle is now. The rooms, the dining facility, and the recreational area were nice and tidy, and a lot of the places were enclosed for patients to be able to walk outside without having to worry about them wandering off. They could get fresh air, and it's out in the open. The staff during the tour seemed friendly, open, and informative, and seemed like a very pleasant person to deal with. They had dining facilities, an entertainment center, an ice cream parlor type thing, crafts, and physical therapy."

"My family visited all of the CCRC's in the region and this was the first one that felt like "home" to us. Well appointed and well run (the staff is awesome) the surrounding forest preserve provided a unique setting very important to my parents. The flexible meal plan was the thing that cinched the deal for us, though. We're very happy."

"It’s almost been a year since my dad moved into Pavilion of Waukegan. It’s an older facility and small. They have activities for the residents, like group participation and physical therapy. Every resident is well taken care of. Their services are pretty good as well. "

"My parents are both in Glenlake Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The staff are nice, courteous and they really take wonderful care of my parents. I'm comfortable with them there. I just wish this place had tiered levels of care. Right now, I'm looking for a facility that is a nursing home as well as an assisted living. Because the problem is with my father. He's still coherent, he really doesn't need to be in a nursing home. He needs more of an assisted living. It's lonely and depressing for him because nobody there is in the same capacity as he is, but my mother definitely needs a nursing home. She cannot walk and she's very heavy. "
