This community is beautiful inside and out. The grounds are very nicely landscaped and the common areas are well-maintained and appeared to be recently updated. Staff are attentive and welcoming. This is a community worth visiting!

We moved here about 4 1/2 months ago and are very pleased that we did it. We like it here very much. There are rooms/"apartments" of varying sizes, and the facility will adapt the space to fit your needs and desires. We live in a two bedroom with a small area (music room) off the living room. The facility is well-maintained and the staff are friendly and accommodating. The move-in coordinator was amazing with helping us know what from our old house would fit in. (More than we thought.) The exercise facilities, pool/spa, dining rooms are very nice. The food is good and we have brought a number of friends and family to join us for meals.

Apartments are spacious and well designed. Restaurants offer a variety of choices which change each week. The staff has been helpful and courteous, always with a smile. Every day is filled with activities. Activities include everything from guest speakers to pool volleyball.

The major impressive point for this review of Sedgebrook is the friendliness and warmth of the community. Everyone in the halls greets you with a “hello, how are you today “ People you barely know check on how you are doing when they hear you have been through some tough times. Beyond the friendly atmosphere of the community is the wealth and variety of activities to be involved in. Everyone can find something to do for enjoyment and entertainment. Physical activities, intellectual challenges, music and drama presentations, card and other games, and others that are for fun The apartments are comfortable and mostly well designed The food,which is served twice a day in one restaurant and once a day in the other, is tasteful and with a lot of variety and many choices to select from. The menu changes every week Potential residents should try the food and talk to some present residents As well as viewing apartment styles of interest to them.

My wife and I did a lot of research online to narrow the choices. Sedgerbrook made the short list. Our first impression was the outstanding friendliness of all the residents we passed on our tour. That friendly attitude is sincere and matched by the staff. When staff is given a question or request, they follow through. After moving in, our neighbors stopped by to welcome us and were concerned we might be disturbed when they were listening to music. The walls are soundproofed. We do not hear a thing no matter how loud their music is played. The food is very good and there is a broad variety to select from. The menu changes weekly. They provide a very broad variety of activities. While we hope to never need it, we wanted a facility with skilled nursing. It is available here as this is a Continuing Care Retirement Community with a full spectrum of levels of care. We moved on four months ago are very happy here and glad we chose Sedgebrook as our retirement community.

We love our spacious apartment. The food here is above average, with good flavor and a lot of variety. There is an enormous variety of activities - physical, cultural, and entertaining. I think that's an advantage of larger facilities. Best of all, everyone is friendly. Everyone greets you, from residents to management to maintenance staff. We've been here 7 months and have made a number of friends while still keeping up with our old social circle.

I moved into Sedgebrook less than a year ago. I wanted to be of a vibrant and social community. You will make a lot of friends when you move in. The campus is large with activities located in various areas. The food is very good but the portions are massive, too much for me personally. The staff are wonderful! They always remember my name and say hello all the time. They are extremely friendly. The programs, especially the evening ones are my favorites.

Great place for your last move. Sedgebrook has so much to offer from beautiful apartment options, indoor parking garage with places to park on same floor as your apartment, Medical Center, Cardinal Market, beauty salon, fitness center, swimming pool and many activities offered both on campus and outings.. It is a very friendly place and it doesn't take long for staff to call you by name. Security checks made daily to make sure all is ok. I highly recommend Sedgebrook as your next home.

My apartment is commodious, has a balcony that overlooks a pond and beautiful trees. The food is delicious - though would like have lower calorie items available. The bistro is available for lunch and dinner which is the less formal option for dining.

Sedgebrook became my new HOME in July, 2025. I choose Sedgebrook because of the environment that was safe, secure and conducive to my lifestyle. The atmosphere of congeniality and professionalism was evident during the first tour. The residents have been friendly and helpful. The staff was warm and inviting. The apartment is perfect for me with large windows, new appliances and plenty of storage. Activities are many and geared to many interests. Meals are chef prepared and really very good. The welcoming climate has made the transition easy and comfortable.

The staff is the friendliest nicest group of people I have ever met. The apartments are gorgeous and the food is fantastic. Stress - free and maintenance free living that’s generally makes you happy. Sedgebrook has such a wonderful environment that I’m convinced that people live longer and happier lives than they would otherwise. My apartment home is superior. Overall the staff is very good. Environment is excellent and the activities are multifaceted. If you want to get involved there are many opportunities to do so both inside the community and out. Dining room is open to enjoying a meal with your family and the food is superb.

My parents are enjoying Sedgebrook. They were very concerned about moving into a new home with a bunch of "Old People" until they realized there were people younger than them there. The food is very good and the activities are excellent. My dad is now complaining that it is hard to keep track of his schedule because he is very busy.

My Dad was in Re-hap at Radford Green, Sedgebrook, The rooms were clean and nicely designed. My dad was 94 and they treated him wonderful. The Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy were amazing. Kelly & Rod and the rest of the team took time and were very caring and patient with him. If your dad or mom needs re-hap I highly recommend this Place. The nursing staff, & Social Workers were great with him too. He went from needing complete help to being able to do thing with assistance. Thank You the Staff of Randford.

One of the best decisions I ever made was to move to Sedgebrook. The activities are so many and varied, for example the garden plots where we can grow flowers and vegetables. The apartments are bright and the food is high quality. But best of all is the inside parking that we did not find at any other facility.

Due to some health issues, my husband and I moved to Sedgebrook at a younger age than most residents. We were totally informed of all that the community had to offer, and felt at ease from the first day we moved in. We have met many interesting and friendly people, including our amazing neighbors. I was drawn to the beautifully landscaped walking areas on site, plus having access to the Des Plaines River Trail adjacent to our facility was an added bonus. My husband was very pleased that Sedgebrook has indoor parking garages, and appreciates the fast service offered by the maintenance department when needed. It's so easy to become spoiled. Things are done for us upon request. We are most grateful for the in-house medical and security assistance that has helped us on numerous occasions. These professionals have been a comfort beyond compare. We stay busy with the many daily events and programs offered by Sedgebrook. It's been a perfect fit for us, and we are thankful that we didn't wait longer to enjoy our Sedgebrook lifestyle.

Beautiful facility with such warm and wonderful staff. Katie and Joseph were amazing to work with. They helped my Mom and I through the whole process , making it seamless. I have been at Sedgebrook for 7 years and I am completely happy living here. I love the 24 hour per day security. The food is quite good. They have 2 restaurants one casual which is partially self service and the other is white tablecloth and is full service. Sedgebrook has more than enough events daily to keep the residents as busy as they wish everyday of the week. They keep the lobby and hallways cleaned daily by much of their own efficient staff. During the COVID panademic they did everything to keep us safe and to this day and come to our door once a week to give us a PCR test which I think is just great!

We moved into Sedgebrook in May from another state. The transition was smooth. We had selected our unit in December and also made remodeling selections at that time. The selections were done with help from the staff here. The work was done beautifully, so move-in was easy. (Down-sizing was not as easy!) We have found residents and staff here very friendly and accommodating. The food here is wonderful and provides lots of choices. The activities are of a wide variety that also gives us many choices for our days. New residents have many choices for apartment styles and type of care needed. We are adjusting to a new life-style, but happy we made the move to be closer to our children and grandchildren.

I am a new resident (1 week) and yet the first morning I woke up here I felt I was home. The staff and residents are very friendly; the grounds are beautiful and there are many different apartments. There is a variety of activities -- classes, lectures, movies, games, a full fitness center and an extensive library. The food is excellent. There is fish, meat, poultry and vegetarian on the menu every evening. The Bistro Cafe is available for brunch and lunch. Lastly, there is a full medical center. I know my days will be filled with making new friends and deciding which activity will I enjoy today. What a wonderful life!

I gained a new family by meeting great people. Beautiful grounds with individual apartments, offers something for everybody. You can close the door and enjoy your apartment or join the many activities. Everyday there is a new activity that pops up. For example there is a workshop that many men and women can participate in, a full library and so many more fun things to do.

Sedgebrook offers its residents plenty of opportunities to optimize their quality of life: fitness exercises, games, discussion groups, social activities of all types and, most importantly, making new friends. Most activities are organized by staff members who try their hardest to engage residents of all capabilities, whether they are marathon ready or ambulate in electric scooters. In order to add variety, some of the activities are organized by residents themselves. One all important feature of Sedgebrook is its full-time medical facility offering primary care and nursing services. Many of our ailments can be managed on site. Furthermore, a crew of first-aid medical technicians is on hand 24 hrs. a day to take care of emergencies. Assisted living, nursing care and memory care are also available on campus. Another interesting feature of Sedgebrook is its location within walking distance of Lake County’s “Des Plaines River Trail”. It makes it easy for residents to take walks or ride bicycles in nature along the river. I moved-in in October 2014 and I still think that it was the right move at the right time. The staff is welcoming, reachable and supportive. The vast majority of residents interact with one another with respect and in a friendly manner.

My husband and I moved to Sedgebrook 18 months ago, and it felt like home from the very beginning. For the first several months we enjoyed life here at it's best, thanks in great measure to the friendly and welcoming residents. The in-house activities and programs were varied, and guest speakers and performers ranged from very good to excellent. We enjoyed going and coming on our own, returning for dinner in the casual Bistro or main dining room--both humming with conversation. Obviously Covid-19 forced changes, and the management and staff have done everything they can to keep us safe, well-fed, and engaged.

My husband and I moved here over three years ago and have never regretted it! We had previously downsized to a condo in Lincolnshire, so when the need to make the change to an Independent Living community arose, Sedgebrook quickly became our Number #1 choice. It has the feel of living in a neighborhood, not just a single apartment building. The campus is large, with plenty of outdoor space for strolling the grounds, sitting by the lake or pond, a community garden, and more. A big draw for us was the availability of 24/7 Emergency services and a full-service Medical Center onsite. Having Radford Green on campus also became a convenience when my husband needed rehab services following hospitalizations. We are at the young end of the age spectrum here, and have become friends with many other residents of all ages. The apartments are light-filled and come in many different sizes and configurations. The variety of activities is impressive. You can become as involved as you wish, or not, but you will be sure to find something of interest. We have felt very safe living here during the Pandemic. The staff has gone above and beyond the norm to provide our meals and adjust services and activities to meet our needs. As life slowly returns to normal, we are looking forward to continuing our daily lives at Sedgebrook for many more years to come.

I have been a resident of Sedgebrook for two years. My decision to make this move was based on the realities of my life: 87 years old, widowed and living in a house larger than I needed and all the attendant expenses and efforts needed to maintain it, and the imperative to make suck a decision while I still had the ability to do so. Am I happy with my decision after two years? Yes, indeed! The buildings and grounds are beautiful and well kept. The resident groups is a good mix of religion and interests. A long list of activities, interest groups and entertainment. An in-house medical center staffed by two full-time gerontologists who are highly praised by residents, who have needed their care. An administration open to questions and suggestions from residents. Full-time fitness facilities and swimming pool. I must add that during this time of Covid19 pandemic, the administrator had put into place and monitors procedures based on the IDPH guidelines and the residents have been compliant. Therefor, I feel very safe here at Sedgebrook.

Sedgebrook was wonderful, and it had all the amenities. We liked everything about it, but you have to buy the apartments. It's a little more on the high end.

My wife liked Sedgebrook as they had larger rooms. They have a big bed and lot of furniture. The staff was very nice but the place cost a fortune to get into. You don’t rent the unit nor buy it, you lease it. You give them a huge loan and they keep until you die or move away and then you get 90% of that loan back. Then you pay a monthly fee on top of it. We had several meals there and the food is very good. They only give you one meal a day and you can pick whatever meal that is, most people pick dinner. The food is great I can’t complain about that. They got many activities and that’s another reason we picked the place, They have everything under the sun. If I like to sing they have a choir. They have lectures, game rooms and exercise rooms.

Sedgebrook is a very nice community. It is very posh. Their apartments are very lovely and you can furnish them on your own. The food is excellent. They have a wonderful chef. They served a delicious dinner during my visit there. Their dining room is beautiful. They also have buses to take you shopping. I like this community; however, it is a buy-in community and I couldn't afford that. Also it is a little too far from where I live.
