"I went to Grand Twin Lakes. I liked everything about it except they only had one-bedrooms in the place. They were a place that had been converted from a hotel to a senior living, and I like that very much. I saw a couple of the staff. The staff was great. It was clean. It looked great except they didn't have rooms in terms of this kind of space that I would like to have. It felt nice. The people there were nice. It was extremely clean and well-thought-out. My sister and I both liked it, but it was too small, and they just had one-bedrooms. Included in the rent was all meals and you got cleaning. But it felt more like assisted. The rooms looked brand new and felt brand new. The dining area was wide open. The impression I have of the whole place is that it's well-lit, and the part I saw had a lot of windows. They have activities. They had a fitness room and there were lots of activities for the residents. They have a place where they show movies at certain times, and they have a heated pool, a fitness center, and a game room. I saw some of the residents and they looked as if they were happy there. It was nice, but it didn't suit my needs. The staff I met were very nice."

"The staff were very friendly. Everyone seemed very happy, not only the staff but the residents. There are smiles on their faces. Most of them were engaged in an activity. The rooms were nice sized, not overly spacious, but just enough. They had a nice little kitchenette, a nice-sized bedroom, and a bathroom. The dining area looked comfortable. It had tables all setup. The menu looked good and had nice options. It's more like a restaurant. The indoors were very nice. Everything's good and very comfortable. They had mahjong and bingo and one was sitting in the library at that time."

"I played bridge in the Vi at The Glen with a friend who lives there. I saw the place and her. I think she had a two bedroom. It was very nice, but it's a buy-in. I really only saw the main building, which is beautifully decorated. I ate at their small grill. It's a big place. In addition to the main building, they have these single homes called villas. When you're a guest and you go in, you tell them you're there to meet so-and-so. It's very much like a hotel. They have maybe three people behind the main desk, and they were very nice, very accommodating. They have everything there. They have discussion groups, book groups, all kinds of cards if you want. They did have a lot of guest speakers invited. The person was going to come in and talk to people. They seemed to have that a lot. I think the people were very happy with the food. All I had was lunch."

"It was very nice. That would probably be one of my first choices. It's just they don't have graduated care and if I move, I only want to move one more time. I like their room the best. The rooms were very nice. I can afford a studio. Their studios have the bed partitioned off, so there's at least the illusion of having a bedroom. The staff was a very kind, gracious lady, answered all my questions, and was very nice. The food was very good. I had a bowl of soup, and it wasn't salty."

"I'm pretty satisfied with Riverside Residence. I liked everything about it. I just looked at the studio, it's one room that's got everything in it. You've got your bedroom, living room, dining room, and kitchen. It's not very big, but for what I need, it's probably perfect. The area is nice. You're right downtown. You can walk everywhere. I'm even thinking I might not even need a vehicle. And you got the river. I teased them about a boat. But, it's a nice setup, and for the price, you can't beat it. Christine was awesome, she answered all the questions. I didn't even have many, because she pretty well answered everything as she was presenting everything. I've seen the menu. I'm a big breakfast person, and breakfast is oatmeal and cereal, which I'm eggs and bacon. I eat a big breakfast and then everything else is pretty small. And I lost 40 pounds doing it. But oatmeal is fine. If there's a negative, that would be the negative. It's clean, it's old, but it's in pretty good shape."

"This is a great place, the staff is like family and many of them have been there for many years. They treat you like family. We have always had such a positive experience there."

"Belmont Village of Glenview is small and very nice. So far so good. We didn’t have problems. Everyone is very friendly, always greets me. They call my mother by name. The server people are very attentive when my mother’s eating. The menus are very extensive and very good. She can choose whatever she wants to eat off the menu. They have a lot of activities- exercise class, Bible study, and all that kind of stuff, and she’s been participating in everything so far. It’s very clean; it doesn’t smell. I’m very satisfied and very happy that she’s socializing. The people there have been very nice. "

"I liked everything. They had a pool and a variety of trips to everything within range. The person who toured me was very nice and answered all of my questions. The building was newer and smaller."

"We really liked it, but then Mom started to wander out of the building and she started to get the sundowners. One time, she got out of the building at night and they saw her on the cameras, but that was a really nice facility. They had a lot of activities, and they had the beauty shop and a really nice atrium. The dining room was really nice. The food was great. I would recommend that for assisted living. They were a little pricy, but it was worth paying that while Mom was there. They had the doctors' offices right in the building, like podiatrists and regular medical doctors. It would be nice if they had a little swimming pool, but I realize that would be putting them at risk for injuries and whatnot. Otherwise, it was a really nice and clean facility. They have bingo, exercise classes, they would have entertainment come in, and they have church. They have the little buses and they could take them to church, to Walmart, or the bank."

"It has nice, fairly large apartments. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a lot of outdoor space, a swimming pool, two libraries, a game room, and church services. They also have a bus that takes residents shopping."

"It was nice. It was well-kept and clean. I liked that they had activities. Now with COVID you really can't see a lot of people out in the hallways, but it looks like they have a table where they could do puzzles on the floor. The only concern that I had was the elevators. Plus, I didn't see a string that they could pull like if they fall. I was concerned about that. They advised me that they do wellness checks throughout the day. So they'll do it in the morning. They have people that walk around, and then they do a check at breakfast. They do it that way. I just thought that they would have something where if something happened, they could just pull a string and somebody would come. Other than that, they were very courteous to us. Even in the independent living, they have the meals included, so I was very happy about that. I like modern facilities, but this one was old and it seemed dark."

"Clarendale of Algonquin is very lovely. The staff who accommodated me was good, she gave me some cookies. We didn't go in, we just stayed at the opening of the dining room and saw a few people sitting there. I don't think they're serving in the dining room right now. If I understood, their food is being delivered to their rooms. It was a lovely facility."

"I went to look at The Merion. It was nice, as well as the woman who showed it to me, but it was too expensive for me. The place was beautiful, it had a pool, and I liked the place where it's at. It's a beautiful neighborhood. I didn't want to pay that much money for it, and I didn't want to move to the suburbs. The staff member who gave me the tour was wonderful, she was very accommodating, she called me several times, and she's very nice. It's a gorgeous facility."

"The Woodlands at Canterfield was beautiful. The apartments were fine, clean, nice, and brand new. We met with several people and they were all very nice and professional. They had a bunch of games going. It's brand new so there were not that many people there yet. We saw people in the lunchroom and it looked very nice. The dining area was beautiful. I didn't eat there. My brother and my mom ate there and they said the food was excellent. We met with several different people and overall everybody was great, but some were better than others."
