"Lincolnwood Place looked like a lot of fun. I saw a lot of activities and a lot of personable people. The staff who showed me around was terrific. I hope she stays there for many years. They would provide 2 meals a day, so the third one would be extra. They had some balconies and a nice courtyard."

"The staff at Bridgeway of Bensenville were extremely friendly. The room size was nice, and the layout was good. The price was a little bit high, but the place is very nice. They have a common area where people can get together and play cards or socialize. They have meals that can be brought to the room. The grounds are really nice, where people can walk around outside. "

"My mother is in Hearthwood Senior Living. I like the fact that it has independent living, then assisted living, and then the possibility of memory care if that is how she progresses in her life. We are only 10 minutes away, and that was one of the reasons why I chose this place. Every single room that's independent living has a balcony or a patio, depending on what floor you're on. Also, there are outside paths that she can walk on. There's a path that goes around a pond that's a three-tenths-of-a-mile pond. Then there are outside areas that are contained within parts of the buildings where you can sit at tables and chairs. It's a big patio with multiple areas. I like the fact that she can get out and walk around outside when she wants to. Everybody seems very happy there, not just the staff, but all the people who are there. They're very friendly and always willing to help. You ask anybody who's in the hall how to get somewhere, and they'll give you directions or help you find it. I've never had a problem. We've been able to eat there at least six or seven times with my mom, and everything is very good, and there's a nice assortment. Everything is very clean. Right now, they're renovating certain areas, but they have those cordoned off so that you can't go there. There's no dust or anything when they're doing their work. They're doing the work during the daylight hours when everybody would be awake anyway if they're pounding or anything, so it's not a disturbance. My mom said there are a few things that have had to be moved because they're renovating the areas where their activities are. That's the only thing she doesn't like because then you have to go to a different place than what you were used to going to. They have something every day, Monday through Friday, at different hours. They have a pool there. They have a quilting group and a singing group. They usually have at least one time of taking the people out to either a store or a restaurant or they had a tea out at a greenhouse. They're going to go to Cantigny at the end of this month. They have outings at least once a week, sometimes twice a week. To me, it's perfect because she's 95 going on 96, so she does not drive anymore, and this way she can get out with other people."

"I checked out the assisted living section of Concord Place in Northlake, and it was a cheery place. The room was small, but there were so many activities there. The swimming pool and workout places are there. I ate a meal there, and the food was very good, and the service was excellent. The interaction I had with the staff couldn't have been any better. The people were very, very nice and welcoming. The only thing that was a downside to me was the location. It was located in a very heavily populated area. I would prefer something farther out, but that's the only downside I had about the place."

"My mother has severe Alzheimers and has been residing at the Self Help home for the past 4 years.She entered with only mild dementia and living independently until she became more and more impaired. Her 85th birthday is in a few weeks , and although she doesnt appear to know who we are anymore. at least shes around to celebrate it. Self Help home has made us,her family, feel safe .My mom has had excellent care there all these years , and the administration and staff there have been very warm and nurturing throughout these very difficult years. Mom cant do anything for herself anymore , but is well-taken care of, and we know this excellent standard of care will continue as long as she is there. "

"My family visited all of the CCRC's in the region and this was the first one that felt like "home" to us. Well appointed and well run (the staff is awesome) the surrounding forest preserve provided a unique setting very important to my parents. The flexible meal plan was the thing that cinched the deal for us, though. We're very happy."

"I like everything about The Garlands of Barrington, don't know what I didn't like about it. They're beautiful and very upscale. The staff who assisted us there was wonderful. The food was great, we had lunch there. The rooms look like they are well-made and well-maintained. Overall, the place was clean and nice."

"We liked Covenant Village of Northbrook because it is close to where my parents live now and it is a continuing care community, so they could go from independent to assisted to skilled nursing. We liked that it is a Christian community and they have friends who live there. It felt more homey and had a lot of activities and a shuttle that could take Mom to church on Sundays. We really liked the people there and the atmosphere. They had a little bistro and a nice media room where the residents could watch programs like the Super Bowl. They take the residents to downtown Northbrook for shopping, concerts, shows, and different places. "

"I was in The Moorings of Arlington Heights for rehab. The staff was very good. The room was clean and nice, and it was well-serviced. The food was good and you could even pick your own menu. In the morning they passed it on, you fill out what you want, and they send it down. I ate in the dining room and it was very nice. "

"We looked at Westminster Place. The staff member was very kind. She showed us a lot of very nice things, although it was very limiting because of COVID. We saw one of the apartments, we saw an outdoor sort of gathering area, and we saw a dining room, but it was not currently being utilized. We saw their general walking area and a couple of their apartments. The layouts were fine. It's an older facility, so the apartments were smaller than some of the other places that we had seen. However, they were very well kept. If my friend were to choose an apartment there, they would take some time and re-do it and add things to it that she wanted. That was very nice. There isn't a lot of storage for things, but there are good-sized closets for some storage. Some places have an out of apartment in the basement sort of storage for things like Christmas things and that kind of stuff, but they don't have anything like that at Westminster. Westminster Place has a lot of nice amenities, and they do a nice job of working with their clients. It's a nice place. The only person that we dealt with at all was the woman who gave us the tour and she was lovely. She was a very nice lady."

"I visited Mather Place at the Georgian with my mother and I was very impressed. The apartments are beautiful. Some have views of Lake Michigan. The location is great, within walking distance from downtown Evanston. I liked the gardens outside the building and there's a great rooftop patio, too. The lobby and restaurants feel a little more like a high-end hotel than a residence, which is both good and bad. Martha, the Residency Advisor who helped us, was extremely professional and nice. "

"Central Baptist Village was very nice and it has different levels of care. They have assisted living, nursing homes, a memory care section, and even hospice. They have a few different restaurants and meal services, and they seem to have lots of activities. There is also a doctor who comes in onsite from one of the local hospitals. It is a community that I'm pretty comfortable with. The staff member who assisted me was very thorough and seemed to know the community very well. She seemed to be a very competent, caring person. She took quite an amount of time to show me everything. I went through the dining room and looked at the weekly menus, and they looked good. They also had a small ice cream parlor, which made the place very cozy, like a little village. From what I could see, it looked great."
