"I moved into Sedgebrook less than a year ago. I wanted to be of a vibrant and social community. You will make a lot of friends when you move in. The campus is large with activities located in various areas. The food is very good but the portions are massive, too much for me personally. The staff are wonderful! They always remember my name and say hello all the time. They are extremely friendly. The programs, especially the evening ones are my favorites."

"When I visited this facility, I was completely surprised over how warm and welcoming everyone was. I've been in facilities where it seems everyone just generally dislikes what they do and dislikes being there. This facility had none of those ideas or perceptions. The whole facility is warm and open for everyone, there are different wings where the living facilities are located. One wing is independent living, one wing is assisted living, one wing is the hopsital wing, and one wing is complete care. There are several areas and rooms where residents can meet with family or friends, and there is a beautiful chapel for daily and Sunday masses. There is a full fitness and physical therapy center for the residents, and there are daily and weekly activities for all of the residents. In fact, the weeks for the residents are full for just about every activity you can think of! This would be the type of facility I would want any of my family members at. "

"I have experienced this facility both as a family member, and as a resident. My wife stayed at the Assisted Living section for about 15 months starting in 2013. The staff was competent and caring. There were issues, as there will always be when caring for a loved one in a place away from home. The activities and accommodations were very nice. Facility was clean and issues were addressed quickly, and properly. My wife moved into the "skilled nursing" section in 2015. As her condition changed there were issues that were raised by other family members, staff and visitors. Most of the problems were dispatched once brought to the attention of the staff. There was an occasional lack of attention to details, but in each instance, once the problem was identified and communicated to the management, it was fixed. In later 2016 I was admitted as a patient for about 10 days. My stay at Victory Lakes was interesting as I was one of the first patients that was placed in the type of room that they are preparing for more ambulatory guests. The room and facilities were pretty good, and the staff was interested in learning how the next generation of residents will want to be treated. All and all, it is a good place, and one of few that provide full serve facilities for a diverse and aging customers. "

"I am pleasantly and positively impressed with the amount and variety of activities that are offered to the residents of Three Crowns. The coverage in terms of hours of the day with activationists/recreation therapists is more than what I see in other organizations. The staff appear to know the residents very well, so that they know how to tailor the programs and encourage participation in the programming. "

"I went to The Oaks at Bartlett. I was given several pages of things to look for, and it checked all the boxes. I was told about the activities. I didn't see any because it's a brand new unit. They had a library, exercise room, chapel, gardens, courtyard, and extensive wooded grounds. They showed a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom. They were spotless, brand new, and brightly lit. The staff was friendly, interactive, knowledgeable, and interested in the individual residents. They seemed to be doing everything right."

"Concord Place staff was good and helpful. They have various rooms, like studios, even up to 2 bedrooms. But my mom didn't need anything bigger than the studio. The food was surprisingly good. They have a variety of activities, like bingo, or if they're able and they're younger, they probably take them out to stores, on trips to Meyer Jewels, or to various grocery stores. I think Walgreens too, and occasional fishing trips. They have an excellent nursing agency on the premises. They're pretty good for a big place. "

"My mother has severe Alzheimers and has been residing at the Self Help home for the past 4 years. She entered with only mild dementia and living independently until she became more and more impaired. Her 85th birthday is in a few weeks , and although she doesnt appear to know who we are anymore. at least shes around to celebrate it. Self Help home has made us,her family, feel safe .My mom has had excellent care there all these years , and the administration and staff there have been very warm and nurturing throughout these very difficult years. Mom cant do anything for herself anymore , but is well-taken care of, and we know this excellent standard of care will continue as long as she is there. "

"My family visited all of the CCRC's in the region and this was the first one that felt like "home" to us. Well appointed and well run (the staff is awesome) the surrounding forest preserve provided a unique setting very important to my parents. The flexible meal plan was the thing that cinched the deal for us, though. We're very happy."

"We liked Covenant Village of Northbrook because it is close to where my parents live now and it is a continuing care community, so they could go from independent to assisted to skilled nursing. We liked that it is a Christian community and they have friends who live there. It felt more homey and had a lot of activities and a shuttle that could take Mom to church on Sundays. We really liked the people there and the atmosphere. They had a little bistro and a nice media room where the residents could watch programs like the Super Bowl. They take the residents to downtown Northbrook for shopping, concerts, shows, and different places. "

"I visited Mather Place at the Georgian with my mother and I was very impressed. The apartments are beautiful. Some have views of Lake Michigan. The location is great, within walking distance from downtown Evanston. I liked the gardens outside the building and there's a great rooftop patio, too. The lobby and restaurants feel a little more like a high-end hotel than a residence, which is both good and bad. Martha, the Residency Advisor who helped us, was extremely professional and nice. "

"Central Baptist Village was very nice and it has different levels of care. They have assisted living, nursing homes, a memory care section, and even hospice. They have a few different restaurants and meal services, and they seem to have lots of activities. There is also a doctor who comes in onsite from one of the local hospitals. It is a community that I'm pretty comfortable with. The staff member who assisted me was very thorough and seemed to know the community very well. She seemed to be a very competent, caring person. She took quite an amount of time to show me everything. I went through the dining room and looked at the weekly menus, and they looked good. They also had a small ice cream parlor, which made the place very cozy, like a little village. From what I could see, it looked great."

"This facility is located on the north side of chicago it serves a population of adults who have been diagnoised with a developmental disability. They only provide services to female residents. While there I noticed some of the residents were sharing a room. They have a full clinical staff that provides services to the residents 24 hrs a day. the meals are prepared by the staff, and on special occassions and when doing food activites, the staff will allow the residents to assist in the preparation of the meals. The facility is clean, and well-maintained. The staff is very hands on, and the residents seem to have a closeness with one another. In general, I would rank this facility a 4 out of 5 stars. "

"My parents were residents of the "old" Admiral. When the new replacement facility opened in 2012, I was among the first to move in. The apartments are beautiful. Most - but not all- have balconies. There are over thirty different floor plans. Each unit has its own washer and dryer. Stove, fridge, dishwasher, disposal and microwave included. Free wi-fi. Attached parking. Expensive move-in fee, much of which is refundable to resident's estate. Monthly fees include continental breakfast every day, plus theoretically one meal per day. A lot of flexibility in how you spend your meal allowance, however...so in reality you can plan easily to allocate it to cover more meals. Additional meals billed to you with your assessments, at a reasonable rate. Great people, attentive staff, wide variety of programs. Extensive library; pool; fitness center and instructors; art studio, theater. Chorus, Play-reading groups, trips, gardening, movies, life-long-learning, bridge, woodshop and more. Activities are planned by residents, so many interests are accommodated."

"My mother was in rehab at St. Paul's. The staff and the care service were fair. They're cordial. Some of them were attentive. They were very good about keeping the rooms clean. The rooms though were small. Food was very good. The selection seemed really nice. In terms of ambience, it was nice. There's no problem regarding the smell. They even have a chapel there. Also they have activities for their patients. They would take them on tours if the patients are able to. "

"Windsor Park Manor has all levels. They have independent apartments and then they have additional memory and short and long term care. The sales and marketing team are very helpful, informative, accessible and very nice. The place is wonderful and all the people we've met, whether the people who live there or work there, are always unbelievably nice and helpful. They have three or four choirs. They have volunteer activities, probably more, in the summer. They have a woodworking shop, fitness clubs, libraries and computer rooms, a lot of travel, plus bus trips to events as well as to grocery stores and things of that nature. "
