"Brookdale Northbrook was lovely and I know many people there that are very happy to be there. The staff was welcoming and kind. They offer all kinds of activities. They have arts and crafts, a beautiful weight room, a nice garden (they have a gardening club), a nice card room, and a pool table. They made the place so that people could just sit in different areas and it was just a very homey feeling."

"The staff at Victory Lakes were superb. My parents lived in Independent Living until my dad passed away. The last 1.5 years my mom was in Memory Care. In each area we witnessed loving and caring employees who always had our parents best interest in mind. Victory Lakes was an excellent place for my Mom at the end of her life. The Catholic services, communion in home, visits with music staff, exercise and activities brightened Mom's day. The staff accommodated for our 7 sibling visits from out of state, Mom's dietary restrictions, medication changes and in the end, Hospice care for Mom. Fred was Moms' favorite nurse ~ he would sing to her and she would find great joy in that! It was a blessing to honor Mom and Dad's desire to live independently through their continuum of life at VL."

"Belmont Village Glenview was one level with a large memory care facility. The room was clean but didn’t have the greatest of views because they put one wing right next to the other wing with the two wings looking at each other, so you look at walls. The people were nice. "

"I visited Generations at Oakton Arms. The least I liked was that it wasn't a one-level place, it has elevators but other than that, the amenities and everything they offer were great. They had maintenance out cleaning up when I was out there. It didn't feel like a nursing home. It feels like a little home. They had a workout room and a gathering room where people could go and practice their religion and the staff was pretty nice."

"It was an excellent, modern, and very beautiful facility. The people were great. I liked that they had a lot of options for dining and a wide variety of appealing social activities and amenities, like an excellent fitness center and a pretty unique pool."

"It was just as nice as the other ones. They were pet-friendly, which was nice. The drawback for me on this one was its location compared to where I live or where my mother was living. It was not as convenient as the one in Palatine or as the one in South Elgin, but for the amenities, it was a five star. It was clean, the staff was wonderful -- all of that."

"We've had a pretty good experience so far. My dad is there and it seems like they take care of the residents, but the worst thing is with this COVID now it's really hard to see him for a long time. Still, it's been a pretty good experience overall. If something happens, or something comes up, they always update and call you, or if I need to know something, I call them, and if they cannot answer the phone, they call me back in an hour or so. He's picky with his food but he said he likes it. It's an older place, but everything seems clean, updated, and organized. They play bingo too, take them to Walmart on a bus to buy stuff, and some tours that they offer sometimes, so the activities seem pretty good."

"If I had to move today, it would be The Merion. If I had to move a year from now, it would be The Merion. lf you need a caregiver, they will find someone for you. The staff was so friendly and so cheerful. I love the energy there. The residents were getting ready for a play and getting ready for lunch, so people were kind of walking around, talking, and laughing. My husband and I've been to the Evanston Symphony Orchestra and they play there on a Friday and it's always crowded. The people there are alert as one can be. One particular room was exactly what my husband and I will have. When we walked in, we knew that it was a great room. It was a two-bedroom, almost full kitchen, a little dining room, and a living room, but it was on the second floor. The dining area was large and lovely. We just stood at the door and they showed us the menu. It was well lit and well illuminated. It looked friendly and accepting. They are on a city block, so they take up the whole area where they are. There are some trees here and there, and large sidewalks. They have a nice terrace where you can sit out, and there are pretty plants, a lot of planters, and things, but I haven't gone to the back of the building. There's minimal greenery because it's a city. They have a library, a workout room, and a little pool. They have happy hour. They have people who actually perform. They have a daily bus and you make reservations where you need to go. The only thing is that parking your car is about a block and a half down. It's a good-sized block down and you have to cross another street. I have all positives to say about The Merion. We definitely intend to move there when the time is right. My husband knows two people over there, or at least one person, and I met another one that we know through church and they rave about the food. They have daily cleaning if you prefer, or they have once a week cleaning and that's all part of your rental. The facility was well kept, very bright, and cheerful. I understand that they're going to start changing some furniture in the reception hall. The owner is kept up-to-date and informed, and he comes over and checks things out. Caroline, the sales counselor, introduced us and took us around twice, and she's fantastic. She's very honest and sincere. We liked being with her."

"The Woodlands at Canterfield was beautiful. The apartments were fine, clean, nice, and brand new. We met with several people and they were all very nice and professional. They had a bunch of games going. It's brand new so there were not that many people there yet. We saw people in the lunchroom and it looked very nice. The dining area was beautiful. I didn't eat there. My brother and my mom ate there and they said the food was excellent. We met with several different people and overall everybody was great, but some were better than others."

"I will be moving into the Oaks at Bartlett. We chose it because of the people there and the atmosphere of the place. I just liked the way it was, and it's not too far from where I'm living now, and I wanted to stay in the same area. It's very comfortable looking, and it isn't too big. I visited a couple places that were very big, and I just felt lost in them. I didn't feel lost in this place. They have a nice seating area with a great fireplace and beautiful sofas, and they've got game rooms, a library, a pool, and a workout room. It seemed like they got a lot of stuff there. I have high hopes that it will be everything I think it is. Everybody was very nice. Not only was the staff real nice, but the residents all seemed very happy to be there. Everything that I saw was super. It's a nice looking place."
