"Rooms are like condos and perfect for the living style. Housekeeping keeps everything spotless and respects all the personal items. Privacy is respected and assistance is always available. So many activities and gatherings that decisions on when to nap have to be made. Having a salon for hair and nails is wonderful as residents do not have to leave the building and gives them independence. Caregivers will walk, talk and never rush residents so they feel positive and valued. Doctors come in so a pedicure from your own recliner was amazing for mom. Chef and staff interact constantly and he teaches residents cooking skills they can all do in some form. From making bracelets to painting we treasure all of mom's creations. Many nice gathering places and beautiful nature from every window. I truly find StoryPoint a gift and am forever grateful for the care of my mother and myself. They understand what a daughter goes through watching her mother decline and lose independence."

"I went to The Oaks at Bartlett. I was given several pages of things to look for, and it checked all the boxes. I was told about the activities. I didn't see any because it's a brand new unit. They had a library, exercise room, chapel, gardens, courtyard, and extensive wooded grounds. They showed a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom. They were spotless, brand new, and brightly lit. The staff was friendly, interactive, knowledgeable, and interested in the individual residents. They seemed to be doing everything right."

"I'm doing research for myself, and so far, the one I like the best is Vi At The Glen. It has everything. I have Raynaud's; otherwise, I'm very healthy. I still drive, but I'm 85. So if I cannot drive or if I don't have a car, that's one place that I would never have to leave. It has absolutely everything that I like to do. When I was there, I noticed the people were active. In all the other places, I hardly saw any people, and here at Vi, I saw people playing cards and doing things. I also like the fact that it has a pool, a workout room, a library, and all sorts of activities. It has places to walk inside. If you have a car, it has indoor heated parking, and they bring your car, and there's no charge for it. It's all included, and no tipping for that, so how nice is that? I saw the apartment that I would choose. I only want a one-bedroom. It's a living room, a bedroom, and a bath and a half. They supply all appliances, even a stack washer and dryer. They offer a full kitchen and 30 meals a month, which is probably plenty because I only eat three meals a day basically, so for me it's good. I also like where it is located in Glenview. The staff was very pleasant. The gardens are beautiful. I don't garden, but it's pretty."

"Both my parents are settled at Belmont Village of Glenview. They moved there the 23rd of January. My dad chose this because of the location and because they have a formal memory care program. My mom has Alzheimer's and she is in their memory care. That's the most important thing. The facility is really nice; it is all good. The staff is very attentive and responsive. My parents are provided with meals everyday and the food is very good. "

"The Woodlands at Canterfield was beautiful. The apartments were fine, clean, nice, and brand new. We met with several people and they were all very nice and professional. They had a bunch of games going. It's brand new so there were not that many people there yet. We saw people in the lunchroom and it looked very nice. The dining area was beautiful. I didn't eat there. My brother and my mom ate there and they said the food was excellent. We met with several different people and overall everybody was great, but some were better than others."

"Lake Forest is great, it's a buy-in, it's expensive, and the people there are mostly local people. The staff took me around, and I've gone to a couple of their functions -- which were wonderful. They have a swimming pool, and many people would come in and speak there. The dining area was newly remodeled, it's very nice, and the food was very good."

"My parents are residents of Oak Crest Atrium Apartments. They have two sections: one is for memory care, and one is more assisted living. My parents are in assisted living. They have their own apartment, which is very nice and very large. It has a small kitchenette in it. There's built-in shelving. The bathroom is very nice. Included in their rent is three meals a day in the dining room. If they're not able to make it, they'll bring the food to them. Their evening snack is fresh fruit that's brought to their apartment. They also get cleaning once a week in their apartment, and their laundry is done for them. My mother gets assistance with medication. If they have any need for assistance, they just have to call down. There's a phone in every room, including the bathroom and the kitchen. So it's been such a comfort for the family to know that we don't have to worry about them, especially at night that there's somebody available. The staff is super wonderful, very nice, very welcoming to my parents and the extended family when we go to visit. They have a pub in the basement that looks like an old-fashioned kind of bar-restaurant. On Wednesdays and Fridays, outside people can make reservations and go, and it's very nice. They have a movie room with big, comfortable reclining chairs, so they can watch movies. They do have a craft room, but they also do bingo and other arts and crafts. I was there on a Saturday when they had a group come in and do some singing, some worship songs, and some prayers with the group. There are plenty of rooms to go and visit with family. They have fireplaces, and on the lower level, they have a very large room with a long family dining table and a full kitchen. You're able to reserve that to either take meals in, or you can cook in there if you want to cook with your family member. My parents are very, very comfortable and happy there. My father feels like they're overeating because the food is so good. It's beautiful a facility, and the layout is very nice. They have an outside area and screened-in porch that they can sit on. It feels like you're at home, but your house is really big. We looked at multiple places, and the pricing was very competitive."
