"I went to see Addolorata Villa. They have a 2-bedroom and 2-bath. I looked at assisted living. It’s not new and it is showing more wear and tear because it is older. The people are very nice. They don’t have many amenities, but they are not expensive. They have medical people who come in the place so the residents don’t have to go out. It’s also Catholic and my parents are Catholic and they like that it has a chapel. That is another plus for us. "

"We liked Grand Victorian of Crystal Lake, and they still keep in touch, which is kind of nice to know how they're doing. It's just that my dad does require some extra care. It's typically supposed to be one person assisting all the time, but he has at least two people assisting right now. I liked the size of the rooms. They're really nice. They made it feel more like an apartment than a room. Their dining room was very nice and well-kept. They had many servers. The food looked good. We did not eat it, but we were touring while they were eating, and it looked like it was very well maintained. Claudia did a great job with the tour and staying in touch. She's very kind, very caring, and took the time to show us everything we needed to see and answer all our questions."

"I was here for four months in the healthcare portion of the system, recovering from the loss of strength due to a severe bladder infection. I needed a place with physical therapy to recover my strength. The CNA’s, the staff and the therapists are excellent. I became quite friendly and social with a number of the CNA‘s that I saw regularly. Room is perfectly fine, the food is quite good, and the coffee is excellent. I have gotten strong enough to live on my own again and I will leave here in a week"

"The grounds are luxurious with lots of acreage & you don’t realize you’re just a block away from a major traffic artery. The staff are very competent & friendly. & the residents are very welcoming "

"Right now my mom is at a Brookdale facility in Vernon Hills. We are trying that out, and she seems to like it. It is pretty independent. She has been there for about six months, and we are seeing that she enjoys it. She likes being around the people and the activities. She's getting more and more acclimated. She's at The Park in Vernon Hills, which is now Brookdale Vernon Hills, and she seems very happy there. She doesn't require a lot. She is very simple, and she is very satisfied with everything, and we are too. It's just nice for her. They come and clean her room once a week. The common areas seem to be nicely maintained. There are some common areas, like the bathroom on the first floor, that look like they could be updated for the next couple of years, but I think for the most part when you walk in the staff is very friendly, the downstairs is inviting, and it's got a nice vibes to it. They seem to take very good care of it. The hallways and all that stuff are clean. I really don't have too many complaints. "

"My father is in assisted living at Oak Crest and Atrium Apartments. It was more like a community than a jail. It has things to do and people interact. They make sure that they socialize with other people. The food looks good and they have a lot of different activities. My dad is busy all day, which is the best thing for him. The staff is very friendly and kind. They're more like caregivers."

"It is beautiful, but it’s very expensive. You have to buy in, and once you buy in, they have all levels of care. The person who assisted me was very helpful. I did see some of the activities, and they had Bingo and exercise activities. I ate in the Bistro, and it was very good."

"My mother has been a resident in assisted living at StoryPoint for approximately 8 months and I am extremely pleased with the care she has been receiving. This past Winter much of her time was spent in the hospital or in different rehab facilities. We were able to witness positive and negative issues with these places. She would text me daily when someone was too rough with her or was not pleasant. She has not texted me any negative comments since being at StoryPoint. The management and dining staff have been extremely helpful and flexible offering meals that agree with the doctor’s orders. There is no perfect place for my mother, due to her medical needs and situation but StoryPoint comes extremely close. She is always clean and very happy, I am not greeted with an unpleasant smell when entering and the building is always spotless. There are always residents sitting in public areas talking to each other no matter the time of day. Although this was a tough decision to make, I am confident we made the right decision picking StoryPoint for this chapter in her life. I highly recommend it if you are looking "

"We looked at Riverside Residence, and it's very nice. It's very clean and nice looking. The people were very friendly. The facilities were organized, and the rooms were of different sizes."

"It was very clean. I was impressed with the spaciousness of the area. The tables were not on top of each other. They were very articulate, knowledgeable, and polite. They knew their business. They're the best at following up with me. They gave me sample food to bring home, and it was very tasty."

"I visited Generations at Oakton Arms. The least I liked was that it wasn't a one-level place, it has elevators but other than that, the amenities and everything they offer were great. They had maintenance out cleaning up when I was out there. It didn't feel like a nursing home. It feels like a little home. They had a workout room and a gathering room where people could go and practice their religion and the staff was pretty nice."

"The staff at Victory Lakes were superb. My parents lived in Independent Living until my dad passed away. The last 1.5 years my mom was in Memory Care. In each area we witnessed loving and caring employees who always had our parents best interest in mind. Victory Lakes was an excellent place for my Mom at the end of her life. The Catholic services, communion in home, visits with music staff, exercise and activities brightened Mom's day. The staff accommodated for our 7 sibling visits from out of state, Mom's dietary restrictions, medication changes and in the end, Hospice care for Mom. Fred was Moms' favorite nurse ~ he would sing to her and she would find great joy in that! It was a blessing to honor Mom and Dad's desire to live independently through their continuum of life at VL."

"Belmont Village is a place that we might have chosen if there wasn't an alternative close by. It doesn't really have continuing care in the same sense, but it does have a memory unit which I don't really want. Belmont has organized rooms and pods of ten to fifteen people with a common living room which makes it easy to meet people. It is something that can really benefit people that are not very outgoing. It's got a big gathering place which is just inside the door and a dining facility right next to it. It seems to be very pleasant. The sales woman seems to know residents by name in spite of the fact that there were a lot of them. A lot of them spoke to her as they passed by. I was impressed by that. The food was very good. Because we wanted a continuing care community, it was particularly appealing to us, but it did seem like a cadillac place for this. It is intended to be a different kind of place. "
