"Covenant Living at the Holmstad was a beautiful facility. Not only the building itself, but the landscaping was very large and beautiful. There were lots of places for residents to be able to walk. They had gardens and trees. It's the most beautiful place I've seen with a price to match. They request a large deposit and then monthly charges, which could increase yearly. There are no meals at all. The salespeople were extremely nice. It's just we can't afford it."

"I liked Solstice Senior Living at Palatine, but it was not appropriate for us. It was independent living. The rooms were extremely small. I saw the studio, and it was too small. We did have food there, and it was good. The people were very friendly. It was in a neighborhood, and I liked that. The common areas were nice, and the amenities are pretty much the same that all of them offer. The facility was just smaller and older."

"The Grand at Twin Lakes was beautiful. I loved it. I liked the layout, the design, the brightness, and the attentiveness of the people. They have an indoor pool and a beautiful patio. They have units with a balcony, too, which is lovely. On their lowest level, they have a movie theater that has movie seats and a huge screen and a kitchen where if I wanted to go there and cook meals with my dad or for my family, I could. They also have little rooms that you could have for family gatherings, a library, and a coffee bar where they do happy hour. There were so many people out in their community rooms just sitting and reading. It's just lovely and bright."

"We liked Grand Victorian of Crystal Lake, and they still keep in touch, which is kind of nice to know how they're doing. It's just that my dad does require some extra care. It's typically supposed to be one person assisting all the time, but he has at least two people assisting right now. I liked the size of the rooms. They're really nice. They made it feel more like an apartment than a room. Their dining room was very nice and well-kept. They had many servers. The food looked good. We did not eat it, but we were touring while they were eating, and it looked like it was very well maintained. Claudia did a great job with the tour and staying in touch. She's very kind, very caring, and took the time to show us everything we needed to see and answer all our questions."

"My parents moved to Monarch Landing in 2014. And, it was a blessed foresight as we lost my dad in 2015. I don’t have to worry about my mom living alone. She has so many amenities, neighbors and staff to answer to her every need ... from a salon to restaurant style eating facilities right onsite. When she needed physical therapy, they were onsite either to come directly to her or for her to go downstairs to a workout room. Monarch Landing is the answer to the question of where would you want your parents to live out their golden years."

"My mother who is 96 resides at the Brookdale Glen Ellyn as an independent resident. She has called this home for the past three years and I have visited her nearly daily over the course of those three years. Brookdale is a wonderful residence for my mother and even though she is independent, there have been three occasions when she has needed assistance or emergency attention. Each time, the staff surrounds her with care and immediacy and have genuinely demonstrated their fondness for her. Of course this is important to me as her daughter, but I observe this same level of sincerity and involvement with all the residents as I come on go daily. Brookdale is a well-maintained facility and my brother often remarks it's like a four star hotel! Activities and opportunities to be involved abound but without pressure to do anything beyond a resident's comfort. My mother enjoys participating in a book club, playing bridge weekly and serving as an ambassador for new residents. She has formed new relationships which is important at this time of life when so many life friendships have ended. I enjoy the relationships that I have formed as well both with the staff and residents and look forward to participating in the Friday afternoon "happy hour" from time-to-time. My family and I feel grateful that our mom/grandma has a place where she is safe, cared-for and where she continues to live rich moments in her near century old life. Thank you Brookdale for helping us love this woman who means so much to us. "

"Our mother has been an assisted living resident of StoryPoint Naperville (“SP”) for almost 4 years. Our family has been very happy as well as our mother with SP. All the staff and the management of SP are great. SP’s caregivers and nursing staff are “top-notched”. They are very compassionate and caring. Our mother is almost one-hundred years old with hearing loss and memory issues. In this regard, they are very patient and respectful when communicating with her. In addition, when our mother has had health-related issues from time-to-time, the nursing staff is very timely in communicating with me as to what the issues are and how they are being addressed. When entering the facility, you are warmly greeted by SP’s receptionists. In addition to welcoming guests to SP, they are tasked with answering questions that the SP residents may have during the day. I have always been impressed with their sincere warm and energetic interaction with SP residents in helping the residents find solutions to the issues that impact their daily living at SP. They are great in working with demanding residents and in communicating with them in suggesting how their issues can be addressed and resolved. It is very common on my visits to SP to see members of SP’s management team, including SP’s Executive Director, Director Property Administrator, Director of Nursing, the Director of Activities, etc., interacting with SP residents, their families and other visitors. They have developed and have maintained a very warm and friendly community within SP. The Director of Activities is very creative in developing new activities and happenings for the residents’ enjoyment. Two years ago, the SP facility was purchased by StoryPoint Senior Living. Since then, there have been several major improvements and enhancements made to the facility for the enjoyment and comfort of SP’s residents. The only regret I have is that our family should have more persisted in encouraging our mother to move into SP when she was younger because of the many activities that SP has and the warm and friendly SP community. "

"I toured The Grand Victorian of Sycamore. It was a very welcoming place, very bright, very clean, and had a lot of options. We had a very extensive visit and met a lot of the staff. We learned a lot of things. They were very helpful. The food wasn't the most delicious, but depends on your taste and what's offered that day. It was nicely done. It was a beautiful facility. It was extremely nice."

"I was given the tour by the director at Jennings Terrace. They had individual rooms, and you could rent a single room or a double room. It's a very nice place, it's well staffed, and it's very clean. They had excellent dining rooms. "

"I have been bringing my therapy dog to visit with the resident of Addorolata Villa for several years. The facilities, while not the most modern, are spotless and immaculate. Many of the staff have been there for decades and I am always impressed by the kind and thoughtful care they give their residents. Much of the staff knows the residents (and their relatives) by name. The staff-to-patient ratio is excellent.For the patients who take comfort in religion, there are daily church services. There is also a computer lab and classes of all types are offered. There are numerous planned activities such as games, card and movie screenings as well. Addorolata also allows and encourages visits from therapy animals, which is a favorite of the residents as no pets are allowed and so many of these guests miss having an animal companion.The residents always have help available, be it for shopping, cleaning or other errands, and there are skilled nurses available at all times on-site.The grounds are beautiful in a sleepy Chicago suburb and there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities year-round. "

"Our family will always have heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional care and warmth Independence Village provided to our mom during her time there. From the very first meeting with Nathan, we felt assured that we had found the perfect new home for mom. They engaged the residents and fostered a strong sense of community, bringing so much joy to everyone involved. "I liked this place very much - it was homey and inexpensive. However, we realized right away that this would not work for my father as he is wheelchair-bound. This facility, being an old home, was not built with wheelchairs in mind. The doorways are simply not wide enough. But if someone is mobile and/or using a walker, it would be a great place to live. Nice people and, as I said, feels like home & not an institution. "

"I moved into Generations at Oakton Arms 4 months ago. The staff here is excellent. I'm extremely pleased with all of them. The whole facility is very cozy and very warm. My apartment is the largest suite that my daughter has seen in all of her tours and it is the least amount of money. The food is typical of this type of facility. It's certainly not gourmet dining, but it's certainly adequate and well-prepared. They have plenty of activities for those who wish to participate, like card games and guessing games."
