"The Holmstad was excellent and great. The people were wonderful and informative. It was all good, but it’s not going to work right now for my mother. There’s apartments, memory center, and infirmary living situations. There were two or three dining rooms: one was restaurant-style and one was buffet. If my mother is going to live some place, it would be there. "

"Jennings Terrace was OK and had everything we needed at that time. The staff was very nice and very helpful. I observed how the nurse and the staff worked with the patients, and it seemed good. "

"My mom has been in Sunrise at Fountain Square for seven years. It's a very nice community, and she enjoys living there very much. I know she prefers not to leave, but there will have to be some pricing changes made in order for her to stay there. She likes the food, too. She's got a one-bedroom, and it's very nice. The property is very clean and well taken care of inside and out."

"My husband was in Greenfield's of Geneva for rehab. If you're looking for somebody to go to rehab, then that's only Greenfield because they're top of the line. They were good with him and then they came to the house. They take Medicare and we have Medicare. He can stay there as long as he's improving, and he had improved to the point where he was walking pretty good and then they sent him home. They came out a couple of times a week to help him. And he had an occupational therapist along with a physical therapist and the nurse. And that was all through Greenfield, they handled it. They're good. Even during the pandemic, he was in there and I couldn't go up. They had it situated so that we could drop a package off in the vestibule and just leave it there with his name and room number, and if he wants to send something home, they dropped it in the same place. It was wonderful. Whatever he wanted, he was not limited to anything like that. And then they had a place set up where you could visit through the windows and see each other through the windows. They'd bring them down and put them in front of a window, so you could visit with them back and forth by phone because he had a cell phone and we did, too. And so we could call him and talk through the window. As far as cleanliness goes, you can't beat it; food, can't beat it. People were friendly, they had as much food as they want to take and you ring the call button and they were right there. They give the medicine on time. The doctor came in to visit with him and they had a foot doctor come in and trim the nails. They got a beauty shop there for the lady to get their hair done. They had it all and they had entertainment. They have a senior living there as well as three sections for rehab over there, and three different degrees of it. They had activities going on most of the day, and they made sure they would come into the room and announce that it's time to do this or time you do that. It's kind of a family thing where they all participate and help each other and they let you do that. If you can afford it, I'd say it's great. The place is packed. They have seniors living there and apartments. I'd say the value was awesome because if he was busy doing something and they wanted him at rehab, they'd come back and get him later. So he got all the treatment he was supposed to get. And then anytime he wanted to get up and walk without it being rehab time, all he had to do was push a button and an aide would come and take him for a walk. They have the facilities and they have the staff; they're nice. I can't complain about anybody. There were a couple of people over there that even shined more than the others. I would highly recommend them. "

"The memory care service is outstanding at Clarendale. The director takes great care of my mother in law, she is always involved in fun activities in memory care, when she was at home all she did was watch TV by herself. I’m so glad to see her thriving, the director sends us pictures of her weekly, as well as updates on what they are doing. The layout of the unit looks and feels like a home which is comforting to us because we had reservation about moving her. We can not wait until the lockdown is over so we can go see her in person and enjoy the patio! I love that they have a Facebook page so we can see all of the memory care daily fun."

"I moved to The Roosevelt at Salt Creek. I chose it because of its location. The rooms are large and completely reconditioned. They have activities, but I haven't been yet. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. The food is very good. They keep the facilities clean. For the value, I'm thinking that I am paying a little bit more."

"The people were wonderful. Julie, the one who gave me the tour, was phenomenal, and their follow-up was very good too. They would call me just to let me know how my mom was doing. The rooms were beautiful, and I would move there if I were old enough. To me, it was like a cruise ship without a casino. I was really impressed with it. My mom's doing great now, but if there's a change in anything, I would definitely move her there."

"We met with a young lady at The Sheridan at Oak Brook. She toured us downstairs, where the main living area is. Then we went upstairs to see a one bedroom. From there, we went down the hall to another side, and saw a one bedroom with a den. We talked of fees, and then we went back downstairs and saw the other activity areas. They have a big room on the top floor, like a big conference room or party room, where you can have birthday parties or reunions. She showed us the dining area, the snack bar, and the bar where you can get a cocktail if you wish to. She showed us the rest of the main area. It was a good tour. We were there for maybe an hour, and it was great. We did a lot of walking and took the elevators. We had plenty of time. There was no hurry at all. We asked questions and she gave us a lot of answers. Then, she sent us home with a booklet. This place is lovely and nice. The staff was excellent. It looks beautiful, clean, and well cared for."

"My sister will be moving into American House Cedarlake. It was extremely clean. The rooms were exceptionally nice. It's not huge, but it's doable. I met several people there, talked with some of the residents, and talked with some of the staff, everyone was extremely kind and pleasant. I think the overall cleanliness of the place is what impressed me. It was just very open and very, very clean, so that was probably what did it for me, and then secondary was the price because the price was a big option for us. We had to stay within a budget and this facility came underneath the budget for me, so it worked out very well. We took my sister for a tour, and we were invited for a lunch, so we partook in the food, and it was good. We had a sit-down luncheon of soup, salad, main entree, and dessert, and it was all very, very good. There were choices on the menu. All of us enjoyed it, so that was good, too. Everything that they have done, they have worked with me hand-in-hand to get this done, to get my sister in there, to get the price that I needed, the encouragement that I needed, and any assistance that I wanted. Everybody was fabulous. "

"I loved Franciscan Village, but they didn’t have any availability. I would give it a high rating. The cleanliness was fantastic. I liked the pretty layout. "

"Concord Place is more of an independent living facility. There's a menu of services and things that you can get while you're there. It's not assisted living, but you can get the care that you need with home visits. We chose it for my ex-husband because we could afford it. I've been there once. It's big, it used to be a hotel, and it's been made into an independent living. It looked very nice. There are different floors, open areas and eating areas. His room is nice, and we had to fill it with his things. The place seems nice, and the staff is very accommodating. They were bringing his food up to him because he was having trouble getting around. The place seems very clean. Whenever he needs anything done he can get it done. It's more reasonable cost-wise than what all of the other places are asking for. When his money runs out they can help him with Medicaid, and he would still be able to stay there, but he might have to move to a shared bathroom kind of setup. It seemed to be the best place that we found. The staff really worked hard to help him get situated and organized. I know there's a pool and a library there, but I personally never saw them because I only went up the elevator and into his room the one time. They seem to offer a number of activities on a daily basis."

"My husband moved into StoryPoint Romeoville. It's very nice and clean. They seem to have enough workers. They have two stories, one upstairs and one downstairs. There are 30 patients upstairs and 30 downstairs. They each have a nurse plus a floating nurse, and they each have a couple of aides. They say they have more than what's required. I do have some concerns, but when I call, there's somebody always answering, and they always take care of my concerns. The food is good; however, one of my complaints was that my husband is diabetic, and they know he's diabetic, but they don't have a separate menu for him to pick from, which would be sugar-free. They'll always give him a fruit punch. I can't be there for every meal, and I keep saying he can't have fruit punch. Give him some water if you don't have anything sugar-free, but that doesn't always happen either. Their desserts- they told me that their pudding is sugar-free but not marked sugar-free. He's diabetic, and they're not paying attention to his diet. Housekeeping is there even on the weekends. They keep things clean, and there's no smell. The activities that I've seen so far have been good. Their patio is beautiful, and they can go out on wide sidewalks for wheelchairs. It had some shade, tables, and chairs. However, it's way too expensive."
