Nursing Home Communities in Naperville, IL

"Over all I believe the facility is pretty good. The staff was for the most part kind and corteous however there did seem to be a few individuals that looked as if they did not want to be there, but then again who among us wants to be at work.My wife's grandfather seemed to enjoy his stay there never had much of a complaint about anyone or anything in particular. The only negative things he said were along the lines of wishing he was at home which I could understand completely.I noticed that the menu for meals was rather meager and the activities could get old fast after staying there for some time. "

"My mother-in-law is in Joseph Village of Chicago for the time being. It's always beautiful. It's really nice and she gets to be active with other people. They do bingo, do other stuff, and they really take good care of her there. The place is almost brand new, so it's nice. They also have entertainment and I heard they have field trips. As far as I've seen the staff is real nice, they're responsive, and everything. Her room there is beautiful and it's nice and roomy with a nice big bathroom and a shower in it. She has a wheelchair, a walker, and she's doing rehab there too."

"My aunt and uncle shared a room in the nusing unit of the health care wing for two years. The staff was very caring and engaging. They encouraged them to join activities; and several family day social events were held during the year. The rooms were very clean, but needed updating. We chose this facility because it is run by the Franciscan Sisters and is part of the Catholic Archdioses. Mass was held every Sunday morning in the chapel, and is also televised. Overall, I was very happy with the staff and got to know many of them. Anytime I had a concern about my aunt or uncle, the head nurse and nurse on duty would address it immediately. "

"My mother has severe Alzheimers and has been residing at the Self Help home for the past 4 years.She entered with only mild dementia and living independently until she became more and more impaired. Her 85th birthday is in a few weeks , and although she doesnt appear to know who we are anymore. at least shes around to celebrate it. Self Help home has made us,her family, feel safe .My mom has had excellent care there all these years , and the administration and staff there have been very warm and nurturing throughout these very difficult years. Mom cant do anything for herself anymore , but is well-taken care of, and we know this excellent standard of care will continue as long as she is there. "

"One of the best places that I went to was Meadowbrook Manor - Naperville. As soon as you walk in, it smelled good. They were very helpful. I was visiting a loved one, and as soon as I walked through the door, someone greeted me. The patients were happy. She enjoyed the food. They had activities. It was a very nice place. The rooms were clean. She was involved with different games, bingo, and activities every day. She was very happy there and so was her roommate and the other people that we saw in the cafeteria. It was a friendly place. I've tasted the food and it was good. Everybody was in uniform, nice, and neat. It was clean. You knew who worked there and who didn't. Everybody had a nametag. If I had to be in a nursing home, that's where I'd want to go."

"We have talked to St. Patrick. We've taken a tour, we've done the preliminary evaluation of the facility, so we're kind of on the road with that one. We just have to wait for a few months before we make any major decision. It's probably going to be fantastic. Overall, we were very pleased with the place. The staff was very accommodating, very nice, they answered all our questions, and they provided information. I can't say enough nice things about them. Right now, everything is fine, we're good. "

"My husband was at Arista Healthcare. It was good. They were through with their renovations. The location was good. There was very ample parking. The facility was nice and clean. I had issues with a couple of the people. I'm sure that they maybe were having bad days or whatever. I just had a couple issues that I had to complain about. In their dining room/activity room they always had either movies going or games going, bingo, and modified charades. They had something every day. I looked at the schools that my kids went to all through their high school days and the food was better in schools than it was at these places."

"My mother likes all of the staff, food is very good, and attention they give her is appreciated. If you have to be in a nursing home, this one is very good! Rooms are a little small but they don't need much room. Could use a few more little rooms for family to sit with "

"The staff At Tabor Hills Naperville was wonderful. My mother spent three weeks there for rehab. She was very happy with her stay, she not only gained 10 pounds but made a remarkable improvements. My Mom loved the staff they were so friendly and outgoing. They painted her nails and helped with our FaceTime connections. "

"The rooms are very nice. I had a private room with my own bathroom. The food was great, better than the hospital food. The staff is wonderful. They treated me like family. I would highly recommend the Springs at Monarch Landing to anyone."

"I chose Alden Estates because of the location. The staff were very accommodating. I had no complaints about the facility. "

"I was able to volunteer at Marianjoy for a summer back in high school. The staff was always very kind and helpful and I actually felt like i was doing something good rather than just getting in people's way. The building itself is very nice and organized, although sometimes it was a bit confusing navigating around if I didn't memorize a map of the place. There is also a very nice garden right outside the building for people to walk around if they feel like they have been stuck inside the building for too long. I was able to talk and meet so many people with different backgrounds and stories. One of my favorite memories was going around to different rooms and just delivering balloons to kids and children for no reason. The look on their faces always made it very worth it. There were times when I felt like I could have been doing more or had more substantial responsibilities, but as a volunteer I suppose you just do what you can and let the people with the actual jobs do the important things. Overall I enjoyed my time at Marianjoy and I am certainly comfortable with having them take care of loved ones who are close to me. "

"West Chicago Terrace was, at least when I visited it, a fairly clean place. When one first enters the nursing home, there are no blatant odors, but rather a smiling young face to greet the visitor. Also, I don't know if it was my personal timing, but the director was there to greet me with a brochere of the facility and a short tour. This particular nursing home has 5 wings, one of which was specifically for persons with greater needs. Even this wing was clean, and had only a slight odor of urine. The food I tasted was sub-par compared to other nursing homes, but the food is not for me, of course. I only visited this facility a few times, so I didn't really get a good read on the employees, but they all seemed rather kind. The one draw back, however, was what seemed like a lack of employees. They seemed a little short handed. But given the state of things, they were doing pretty well with what they had. "

"The place was filthy! Residents just sitting around doing nothing. Was in the elevator with a resident that looked and smelled like he just came in off the street.Called to speak to the Director several times, she was never there or always busy. Do not send your loved ones there! "
