We are in the getting to know you phase. The staff and administrators have been very receptive to any concerns we may have. I am very hopeful and less anxious because of their responses. Room are clean and my mother likes the place. My mother likes going to mass and enjoys the dining room. Still learning about the amenities.

St. Joseph Village of Chicago was clean, and the people were friendly. It didn't matter what level they were because you could tell that some were managers, some were custodians, and they were all very friendly with each other. The residents I met seemed happy. I talked to one gentleman and he seemed very happy and very comfortable there. He had been there for several years and he was a very nice gentleman and very helpful in talking about the place. The rooms were very nice. I was able to look into a couple of rooms where people were there and then we saw some empty rooms. The place was pretty. It was a pleasant place to be. They had an outdoor space that was fenced and locked so that the residents could be outside without wandering off or without being bothered by the neighborhood, and it was in a very nice neighborhood on the north side of the city. I didn't like that it was kind of large. There wasn't a whole lot I didn't like about it. I'm just trying to find a place that fits my mother-in-law and it is definitely on the list.

I went to St. Joseph Village of Chicago. The staff was very good. The only drawback of that facility is that they don't have long-term memory care. It's only short-term for memory care. From there, they send them to other facilities, so I wasn't too happy about that. That didn't fit my needs. The good thing is that if you need to stay there for a week or so or just for a short-term visit, it'll work out for you, but long-term-wise, it's not what I needed. They have a rehab center and a nice chapel. The facility itself was very clean. To get in, it's pretty secure. They have to buzz you in. It was a nice facility, and the staff was friendly.

St. Joseph Village of Chicago was very homey and very clean. The people there were generally friendly. It's very homey and meets our needs. It's older, but it's clean and appears to be well-maintained. It's a nice facility. The rooms are not new, but very nice. They were rehabbing some of the rooms also. We got a complete tour. The location for us is good. The security is very lax. They have a camera and a receptionist, and that's about it. They had a lot of activities that they were working on. The person who gave us the tour was wonderful.

I had an in-person tour of St. Joseph Village of Chicago. I liked the cleanliness and the comfort level of the facility. I liked the fact that the residents could receive different levels of care if their needs change over time and without having to move to a different community. The facility is relatively new. They have been remodeling some of their rooms, putting in better flooring, painting, and updating some of the things. It was nice to see everything was well appointed. There is also a nice green park area on the side of the building for people to sit outside. They had a beauty shop, chapel, activity room, dining room, and physical therapy gym.

The reason we chose St. Joseph Village of Chicago is because my mom is Spanish-speaking. They have residents and staff who speak Spanish. It was a very pretty place, really nice, and very clean. The thing I liked most about it was the residents seemed very happy. So if they're happy, then I'm sure my mom would be happy. The staff member's name was Sonia, and she was just excellent, very patient, listened to all our needs and worries, and she was just very reassuring. The rooms were very spacious, up to date, and very nice. They have like a little patio.

We thought St. Joseph's Village was OK. The residents get their food in the dining room area. I believe that there is housekeeping (maybe laundry, bedding, and that kind of thing). The apartments were fairly priced.

St. Joseph Village of Chicago is a fantastic place. It's run by a ministry, it has the religious services that my mom needs, the website is fantastic, the dining area, and the activities for the residents. I've tried the food, and it's adequate. The amenities are fantastic. Right now they're limited but in every floor, there's a TV room, a dining room, a library, and there's a chapel there.

My mother-in-law is in Joseph Village of Chicago for the time being. It's always beautiful. It's really nice and she gets to be active with other people. They do bingo, do other stuff, and they really take good care of her there. The place is almost brand new, so it's nice. They also have entertainment and I heard they have field trips. As far as I've seen the staff is real nice, they're responsive, and everything. Her room there is beautiful and it's nice and roomy with a nice big bathroom and a shower in it. She has a wheelchair, a walker, and she's doing rehab there too.

My best friend's mom was here for rehab; it was a great experience, wonderful staff, very clean and it had everything she needed. The staff really cared. The other patience along with those that live there were very pleasant and seemed happy to be there. This all contributed to her recovery. Thanks to all the staff at St. Joe's....

St. Joseph Village of Chicago looked beautiful, and the staff was really good. When they said they do not accept social security, I felt insulted. They said it was a self-paying-only place. When I said I was on SSI disability, they pointed me to the nearest exit sign without even escorting me out.

We were impressed with St. Joseph Village of Chicago during our visit. It seemed to have a small community where they would watch over them. The staff seemed friendly. The people we ran into the hallway seemed to be enjoying themselves and it seemed a home rather than an institution.

We liked St. Joseph, but it was extremely expensive. So, it was out of the budget. The rooms were smaller, but clean and orderly. They had great staff. We knew the staff there because we used the rehab side of it. I thought it would have been the top option except for the price and the location. It was kind of out of mom's neighborhood, and we chose to keep mom in her current neighborhood where she resided. The food was fine. I saw them gathering people, and their staff was always very friendly, smiling, and very positive. They were encouraging people to join in the activities, and that I did like. It had a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

My first impression of this place was good. Everything seemed in order. The staff was pretty attentive and friendly. I noticed the staff members would check up on my friend every now and then and my friend seemed to like them. One of the nurses came in to serve her lunch and cleaned it up shortly after she was done. Her room was very clean. I noticed one of the residents calling for a nurse and I saw that he was tended to right away. I was quite pleased with that. I would definitely like to visit my friend as soon as I can. This time, I hope to stay a bit longer.

St. Joseph Village of Chicago is located in the convenient Belmont area near that Red Line El stop, which makes it really easy to visit using public transport. That's important to us, because our family all lives close to that region. It is also accessible by car, from every direction. We also like the area for the many shops and restaurants to take our uncle to when we visit. There was quite a variety of apartment layouts to choose from, with spacious studios and several sized bedrooms. They also had lovely garden homes with dens, decks and patios. This was a feature we haven"˜t seen too much of in our search. Most of the patio type areas have been in communal situations, so our uncle liked that he could be outside privately if he wanted to. This is also a really nice feature when guests come over. There are opportunities to golf and go fishing, which he also really likes. My uncle liked the business center where he can easily access the Internet, so he wouldn't have to have his own computer. He also liked the barber shop, which we hadn't seen at other facilities. The fitness gym had plenty of options for exercises and classes and instruction available and a hot tub. This community seems to offer the balanced convenience of the city with the tranquility of the country.

Though we ultimately chose another facility for our Alzheimer-stricken mother, this location was a very close second choice. To summarize its appeal, the phrase "comprehensive competence" comes to mind. The overall physical condition of the facility is excellent, though one might be put off by the less-than-picturesque (though relatively safe) neighborhood. The professionalism and compassion of the staff are readily evident in even a brief visit and the overall layout of the facility supports the air of efficiency without being "clinical". The rooms/apartments are among the most generous in this price range and though St. Joseph's affiliation with The Catholic church is relatively subdued, the large and attractive chapel is one of the more notable physical assets of the property. Referring again to the layout, we found its main floorplan to be cleverly designed. As a major concern of ours was the possible prospect of having to move our mother again as her physical condition deteriorates, the way in which the assisted living wings were simultaneously connected to, yet separate from, the full-care nursing wings resolved this issue. As a residents'care requirements increase, they need only be moved a few feet to accommodate their physically diminished condition. While I might reserve recommending this for minimally disabled or earlier stage dementia patients, I believe this to be an extremely desireable for anyone requiring a therapeautic and structured environment with knowledge that care needs will be increasing indefinitely.
