"The residents have individual rooms and a wonderful well kept common area and kitchen. In summer months there is a great front porch and outdoor area in the backyard where residents can gather. The staff is very caring putting residents needs first. My father was in a larger facility where he was just a body. Here he is treated as an individual. He is cared for and loved by the two hearts staff. A smaller home is the way to go for the individual loving care you would want for your aging loved one."

"I chose Brookdale Valparaiso for mom, because of the caring people. Everyone I talked to and everyone that I dealt with just had my mom's best interests at heart all the way. She's been there a week now and they're just taking wonderful care of her. I am really happy to have found a place for her that treats her so well and takes such good care of her. The facility itself is very nice. It's not brand new, but they have very quality and nice suites. Plus the place smells fresh. The food is wonderful. My mom can't comment enough about how good it is. She's been participating in a daily exercise routine, on a trivia night, and in physical therapy. Right now, they're getting her set up with bingo. So, they're keeping her very busy."

"They say it takes a village to raise a child. It also takes a village to care for an aging loved one. At Valparaiso Senior Village they live up to this expectation in the best way possible. From the kind, caring, hands on Executive Director to the welcoming receptionist at the front desk, their “resident focus” rings loud and clear. When our father lost his bride of 64 years, we knew he could no longer live on his own. We toured several local assisted living facilities. While they were all nice, VSV really stood out. Nestled in a country setting, with handsome amenities, nice rooms, excellent food, and activities for everyone….it very quickly became home for our father. The biggest differentiator, however, was truly the people. From our first visit up to today, each encounter with their team members has been outstanding. During weekly visits, it became readily clear that the nurses, aides, kitchen crew, maintenance team, and activities director all knew their jobs very well. But, more importantly they all knew our dad. Each called him by his name, and were attentive to his needs, likes and preferences. The care has been consistent and exceptional. Dad calls them his “Super Team.” I cannot tell you how many times my siblings and I have turned to each other on our visits and said, “I am so glad we chose this place.” Dad enjoyed his time in assisted living for over a year and a half. Recently, based on candid, caring and accurate feedback from the staff at VSV, we transitioned him to memory care. This was a time of uncertainly for our family. However, the expert team at VSV guided us step by step and made the move comfortable and painless for all of us. They handled the whole move from his one-bedroom apartment in assisted living to his new studio in memory care. On the day of the move, the family took our dad out for an outing. When we returned, we went straight to his new studio apartment. All his favorite furniture and possessions were in place. Pictures were hung on the wall. His recliner and comforter were waiting for him….and the TV was hung on the wall and functioning. Our dad especially liked that they had hung his beloved Green Bay Packers sign back over his new door. Once again, he was home! They also permitted us to put up a birdfeeder outside his window to keep him connected with the outdoors. Since moving to MC, the care and ongoing commitment to our father continues to exceed our expectation. We know in our hearts, it was a good move for him, and we cannot thank the entire team at VSV enough."

"Residences at Coffee Creek is an outstanding and beautiful place for our dad. His recent move to his memory care apartment has been an extremely positive experience. The staff has been wonderful with taking care of his move -especially Natalie who has been awesome with the communication and the excellent attention to our dad's needs. I have consistently been informed how well our dad is doing and how much they enjoy having him there. Most importantly, he is happy, healthy and well cared for. We feel so blessed that he has such compassionate caregivers who go above and beyond to help him adjust wonderfully to his new surroundings. "I had an in-person tour of the Victory Centre of Sierra Ridge. I like the friendliness. The lady let us talk to some of the people that live there, and they were very friendly. They told me about all the different activities that they do. They go out and do outings a lot. They have a garden if they plant. Talking to the actual residents was the best part of the whole tour. I could see my dad having a full life if he lived there and be able to interact with people and go to places. The staff was very nice and helpful. The way they have the dining area set up was nice. They take their orders like they're at a restaurant, and I like that as well. The residents said that the food was good."

"My father moved into the Victory Centre of Roseland last November. The location was convenient, it was near my home, and it was ten to fifteen minutes away. When I went there it seemed to be a fairly decent place. They give him his meals and things of that nature. He hasn't been there long. Covid has a lot to do with things that happen. The staff has been very accommodating of your needs. I think they're good. He has plenty to eat and hasn't complained at all. They have a gym, salon, and a beautiful backyard. Those that want to smoke can go out and smoke. They've got a little workout area for your grandchildren. If you want to bring the little ones they can play. So I think that's nice. They got birds, they got a piano, and they played music. So that's pretty good. I think they do a good job under the circumstances."

"I had a very cordial visit to Tinley Court. Me coming from a house, the rooms are rather small for me. However, I appreciated the courtesy of the lady that was showing them to me. I would recommend it to anybody that would want to kind of scale down to a smaller area. They showed me at least four rooms. They also showed me an activity room, a computer area, the lunchroom, and a library. It was okay. It's very convenient to shopping, too."

"I visited this facility looking for a placement for my wife. I focused on the memory care unit which is in a large circle design so a resident can simply keep going and eventually come back to their own room. I was impressed with this facility, especially the staff. This was the first memory care facility I visited and the staff was very patient in explaining many of its features in a way that was useful in my other site visits. The staff, including the marketing people giving the tours referred to people by their names and stopped and talked to them along the way. Management personnel are included in actually running some activities in the facility with the residents. The facility is fairly new (July 2016) but already seems to be well organized with its staff and procedures in place. While the pricing structure for the Assisted Living portion is based on levels of care needs and room styles, the memory care is based on a flat fee structure with one style of room. "

"I've had my dad for a short stay at Evergreen Senior Living - Orland Park. We were very happy with it, my dad has no complaints. It's a newer facility, around five years old, so it was new and everything's updated. The people seemed to be loving and caring and everything seemed to be in order. The staff seemed to be very caring, and there was a nurse who made sure that my dad takes his medication. They seemed to be very thorough and it was a beautiful facility. During the few times I was there to visit my dad, they have groups of people doing activities. They had a TV in a common room where they were singing along to songs and doing different things for memory care. They're working with the people there, so they weren't just sitting in a chair doing nothing. They weren't any more expensive compared to anyone else, they were the average price. They have a beauty salon available on the premises and they have an outdoor terrace that they can go out on."

"My mother-in-law is in Heritage Woods of Manteno. We chose them because of location and the ratings. She's in a studio right now, but we're on a list for a one-bedroom. It has her bed, her personal belongings, a little kitchenette, and a big bathroom. The staff is very helpful and very concerned, and they communicate well. The dining room looks nice, but because of COVID, they weren't really bringing them down there. But she said the food was good. With COVID, they don't have many activities. They're just starting to open up, so she hasn't really done any activities yet, but they have arts and crafts, which she likes, and she looks forward to doing that."

"I toured Virginia Place. The lady Susan was very, very thorough and very informative because this was my first visit, trying to understand exactly what my options are. She gave us a tour of the facility and all of its activities. But then, unfortunately, because it is private insurance, and my mom is not a spouse of a veteran, this was out of our league. The rooms were recently renovated, but they were clean and efficient. I went right at lunchtime, and it was perfect timing that we had gone. They have a chef on duty, and they had asked if we were going to stay for lunch. I did not stay for lunch, but we were there for almost an hour and a half of taking the tour and watching the interactions of the tenants living there. It was something that I would be interested in if I could afford that for my mother, but unfortunately, we can't because it is a private establishment. The dining area was clean and well-lit. It's an older building but they had some renovations."

"Spring Mill Health Campus was excellent. The rooms were very clean and had up-to-date furniture. The food was very delicious. The staff explained everything very clearly and knew her business. She was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the place."

"Belvedere Senior Housing was very nice. Everybody's friendly. It's a very clean place. The apartments were a decent size, very clean, and very nice. It still looks like a brand-new building. The staff was very friendly, very helpful, and very knowledgeable about the place. They give you three meals a day. The laundries are free. They take your whole check, but they give you $52 a month to spend. They don't have stoves in the apartments because I guess because they feed you three meals a day, but they do have a small refrigerator in each apartment. The landscaping is beautiful and they do go by your income, which is good."
