Memory Care Communities in Crown Point, IN

"I toured Arden Courts of South Holland. I love that the residents were able to go in and out of a gated area, and there were many entrances and exits. There was a walking path and plenty of little sittings where they could stop, rest, and look at different flowers. There were raised garden beds, and they had flowers growing. I like that the residents would not feel like they were locked up. The rooms were smaller than the other place, but there were single rooms. They're very nicely appointed. There was a bathroom, but there wasn't a shower. Each wing had like a common shower, and I like that because that means that anytime that the person would be in the shower, they would be accompanied or observed. People can get in the shower by themselves because there's a self-contained bathroom in every room."

"I have been a resident of Valparaiso Senior Village for eight months now. The residents here are really wonderful, and the staff is just fantastic. I've been very happy here. I've worked with the director on a few things that I've had problems with and wanted to resolve, and she has been wonderful with me. I just can't say anything bad about it. I live in a two-bedroom apartment. It's big and very nice. They also have a couple of two-bedroom apartments, and the rest of them are one-bedroom and studio apartments. They have three floors, and they have a memory care here, but I don't know much about the memory care. I'm on the second floor, but I have no balcony. They have a lot of activities for people to do. Their food is good. They have good cooks. They have a fantastic therapy group, too. They have transportation where they'll take you two days a week from 10 to 2, but most people can't use it because it's an inconvenient time. You can't get doctor's appointments between 10 and 2 that easily, so that's just one of the drawbacks. It's not as clean as it could be. They need more cleaning crew here. I don't use their activities, but many people here do, and they really like them, so I think they're good. I play chess with one of the residents here instead of going to the bingo and bunco."

"I recently visited Residences at Coffee Creek to visit with an old friend who now lives in the memory care there. I was so relieved to see how well she is doing. She was so distraught in her home a few months ago, this is such a better fit. The place is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. Her apartment has a nice view of Coffee Creek and when I was there, multiple staff members checked in on us to make sure she was ok. I was impressed and feel she’s in great hands."

"Bickford of Tinley Park is a nice and clean place. It seems that the staff is responsive to my family member's needs. He needs some assistance with medications and stuff amd they're looking after that. In general, we've been pretty happy. He has done Bible study and bingo. So, he's getting involved with different activities. The interactions that we have had with the staff have been very positive, too. Everyone is helpful, polite, and friendly. The residents seemed pretty friendly as well. The facility seems to have a welcoming atmosphere. The landscaping outside is nice. They make it seem home-like."

"My husband moved in to memory care at Evergreen Senior Living - Orland Park. The place is very clean, nice, well-designed and decorated and comfortable. The staff is taking care of his needs. The dining area is very clean and bright. They vary the activities and they have a full calendar with things that they do. They pretty well try to keep them occupied most of the day. They have a lot of activities ranging from exercises, to art projects, to games. My husband's room is very nice and spacious enough. It's fairly bright and it faces east so it's got a nice morning light coming in."

"The people at Arden Courts are very good, very friendly and they treat everybody nicely. We're very happy. "

"My brother is in the memory care unit at Spring Mill Health Campus, and he seems to be enjoying the place. He likes the food, but with his limited memory capacity right now, we just take what he said. The staff is very friendly and nice. My brother has only been there a week, so I can't make a definite determination right now, but what I've seen I'm okay with. I can't really go in too far because of this health crisis; just one person meets me at the door. It's a fairly new place."

"My husband stayed here for three weeks. The staff was wonderful and went above and beyond. His room was nice and big. He did good there. The food was great, and the atmosphere was wonderful. It's really a great place. I saw some seniors participated in the activities."

"I liked Towne Centre. They offered a lot of things. The rooms and the dining area were very nice. The residents were very comfortable, and they seemed nice. The place was beautiful. It had a garden."

"I visited my grandma, who is a resident of Brentwood, several times from Dec 2010 through Aug 2011. The place is beautiful & clean. My grandma is very happy there. The apartment is very nice. The staff is wonderful. They are very welcoming to our family when we visit. "

"My husband has been there for a few years now. He was in and out for a year or so and then we agreed he needed to stay. The staff is kind and caring. The rooms lovely and I feel blessed he is in a good place. He likes to read and there is a sharing library. Entertainment is offered regularly - music / bingo / rides on the bus / outings / services. There is an activity room, beautiful outdoor areas and the community comes for trick or treating, Christmas and other special times. My husband loves the food and often asks for seconds."

"We have secured a place for my husband and it's Cedarhurst of Dyer. It was impressive. I liked it. They had activities. They were doing crafts and coloring. They had TV sessions, and they could watch programs. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the place and the service. The staff was very cordial."

"Grandma is at St. James Manor. This facility is close to my house. They do a good job on taking care of her and they are very polite. They would let me know whatever happens. Some of the staff were a little slow, but I don’t think it’s a problem. I'm happy with the service. She is in a shared room right now. My grandma is a picky eater and complaints just about everything, but I think the food is fine. "

"Everything here is very nice. The staff is very efficient, kind, caring, and professional. We are totally pleased. My mother has already been here for two years, and the person that I just moved in is my aunt. There are all kinds of activities here. They have games, entertainment that come in, and a variety of activities. I think the apartment is spacious. It is more than enough for a senior."
