I visited this facility

My brother will be moving into Grace Point Place. We chose it because it's very close to where I live and it's a beautiful area. The facility just opened six years ago, so the facility is pretty much brand new, and it's quite beautiful. It has everything that we need for him. The staff is wonderful and very nice. I'm very happy. It's going to be a good fit. They also went to meet him. I think it's going to be a great experience and a good place for him to be. Everybody's really nice and very professional. Just based on the overall facility, I can't imagine that the food won't be delicious. The place looks like a hotel or a resort.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My cousin was a resident at this disgusting place. I attended a care plan meeting in October because they were neglecting her and not giving her her medication. We were hopeful things would get better after the meeting, but unfortunately they did not. Her daughter has been put through the ringer by these people to no end. My cousin is currently in a hospital being moved only by hover lift because she is unable to put any weight on her feet. During her time at Grace Point Place she went from being able to walk without any problems to being 100% unable to walk and the people there never contacted her POA once over this issue, have absolutely no idea what happened to her, and don't care either. If you are looking for a place to ease your mind about caring for your loved one- THIS IS NOT THE PLACE! If you don't routinely check on your loved one at Grace Point Place, you better get up there every day and see what's going on. You will be disgusted too I'm sure.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My mother entered this facility happy and fully mobile. After six weeks she was miserable and unable to walk. Her medications were mismanaged and improperly administered and the staff is usually seen sitting in the back of the room sleeping or staring at their phone. Please pick a different facility for your loved one.

We went to Grace Point Place. I really liked it. It was clean and spacious. The staff were friendly. We didn't have to wait too long to get the tour. She let us know that they were private, so she was very transparent and upfront. She took us to their office to talk to us about their programs. They have activities, and they have a couple of patios. I love the bedrooms. They looked like normal rooms. They don't look like hospital beds; i like that. We saw groups of elderly people in an activity area watching a little bit of TV, and I saw them walking around. It was quiet and stuff like that. The area that you walk in to sit and wait is nice, too.

When I went to see Grace Point Place, it was phenomenal. It was very beautiful, very clean, and it was everything I could ask for for my grandmother. So I'm very happy with the place. I love that they keep her busy, like yesterday, she was out of her room the whole day. She never would do that, so she's learning to interact with people. The staff that I met were all great, they're all amazing. Every time I call, they're always there to answer any questions, and I have no complaints at all. The whole place is just memory care and I love that.

Grace Point Place was very nice. It didn't feel like an institution. I've looked at a lot of places, and a lot of them felt more like an institution or a nursing home as opposed to a home. This place felt like home, like it was a house and there was a piano. Not like hospital rooms like some of the other places felt like. This was like a house and as a big building with apartments, that type of thing. It felt very homey and I like the way it was decorated. It had this nice warm, inviting feel to it. They were serving breakfast and it smelled delicious, I said "I could live there if they eat like this every day." They do their laundry and they clean up, and the rooms are very nice. I wouldn't mind living there, so I'm hoping my mother likes it too. I didn't dislike anything about it. Including the people I've got to speak to, a lot of the employees, and everybody was just very nice and warm and inviting and friendly. It seemed like a good place I'd want to put my mother, where she's not just safe, but she's also taken care of. Anybody can lock the doors and make sure somebody doesn't wander, but there's a difference between that and caring about a person. And you could tell the employees care about the residents. They're nice, very accommodating, and very professional. Most importantly, you could tell everybody knew exactly what they were doing. They were describing to me about all the different training and whatnot they have to go through every so often, to keep their skills up and whatnot. The rooms were very nice, it was like walking into someone's apartment and didn't feel like an institution or a hospital. There's a very nice warm feel to it and very pleasant. Every room had its own bathroom, I thought that was very nice. But a lot of places I looked, it was not that way. They were serving breakfast when I got there, so I got to walk through the dining room and it smelled so good. The dining area was very nice and very clean. I like the way it was set up, the way the tables and chairs were set up, and everybody was having conversations and eating and interacting with each other. It was like walking almost into somebody's kitchen in their house. I got to see the laundry area and they have a spa room, an exercise area, and I got to see the patios that lead from the inside to the outside. I saw the bus that they take where they take the residents. They recently have gone to see the Christmas lights in the neighborhood and they take them out for different other activities, outings, and whatnot. I was there for a good while, the lady took me through the entire place. Everything was immaculate, I was very impressed with the cleanliness. And my mother is very particular about things being clean, so I was looking for that especially. This is the best place I've looked at yet, and I've seen several places.

My father has moved into Grace Point Place. It is secure; you can't get in and out. They have two courtyards so they can walk around outdoors. He has outdoor activities even though he's in the building. For the last three weeks, it's good. They call me once or twice a week. They're very informative and keep me up-to-date. The place is very clean and very updated.

Grace Point Place was superior. The staff was very upbeat, professional, and welcoming. The rooms were very nice. The bedrooms were large and had bathrooms, and the residents will be very comfortable there. It seemed very homey. My father would've been satisfied staying there. They had an activity director leading the games, programs, and singing. There's an area with a big old TV, and it had plenty of room.

I visited this facility

I liked Grace Point Place. It's a little bit smaller and had a lot more individuals there. I liked that they had a GPS on the people so the staff knew where they were all the time. The only reason we didn't pick them was there was a $400 a month incontinence fee which was a little weird and just another way of trying to get money from people. The rooms were nice, but they seemed a little bit small. They seemed engaged and a lot of people were talking to each other. They seemed to have a lot of activities. I liked their outdoor area and people living there can participate in the gardening.

Provider Response

Thank you for your comments Dina. We appreciate the feedback. There are many wonderful aspects of the community (i.e. engagement programs, community amenities, technology, etc.), of which you mentioned. We may have not properly articulated the components of our continence management program. While this program does have an additional expense, we don't include that fee in the monthly care as it is not applicable for all residents. We would be happy to revisit our discussion in the future and are confident you would be pleased. Thank you again!

Grace Point Place is phenomenal and they use best practices. The people we met were very caring and compassionate. The place was clean and the residents were engaged. I didn't see anybody ignored in a wheelchair.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I am the oldest daughter of my mother who is a resident of Grace Point. Before my mother was a resident here, the community was offered to join a free Alzheimer's support group from this facility, which I participated in and was helpful. Knowing that my mother is being well taken care from the upmost compassionate, caring, kindest staff members, from all of the nurses, the cooks, the cleaning crew, to the maintenance guy, Norman makes me more comfortable knowing that my father definitely has chosen the perfect place for my mother. Meredith, Lisa, Courtney, and Katie are very compassionate and have been extremely helpful to my dad and I when there are any questions or concerns. When you enter through the facility doors, I can always count on being greeted with a friendly smile and a hello including a pleasant aroma in the building. The rooms are kept maintained and always clean. The activities that they have for the residents as well as the family members that are included to participate in them are always so much fun. I am grateful and extremely thankful for each and everyone of you.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I, my siblings and two cousins are my aunt's remaining family. By fortuitous circumstances, I was referred to Grace Point by one of the social workers at an assisted living facility which has a 2 to three year waiting list. I met with community relations director and was given a tour. From the minute I walked in the lobby door I very impressed by the decor, aroma and especially the lighting. During the tour I met the activities director who gave me the impression that she was quite enthused about her job. Upon leaving that day, I immediately called my sister and one of my cousins and made arrangements to meet with the community relations director the next day so they could see the facility. We unanimously decided that this where my aunt needed to be. Fortunately we were able to secure a residency for her her so she could obtain the physical therapy and more important, treatment for Alzheimer's dementia. Once she was placed, I found the entire staff from maintenance to medical personnel very friendly, attentive and willing to listen and be of assistance. Inquiries, whether in person, by telephone or email were addressed in a timely fashion. We were also very much impressed by the efforts made by Grace Point to educate family members about aging, dementia and related matters. My aunt has now been a resident for two months and the standard of excellence in care has shown every sign of being maintained. My family members and I have had a tremendous burden lifted from us in knowing my aunt is where she needs to be and is doing well because of it.

We entered this spectacular 5 star establishment and I was immediately struck by the fresh aroma and impeccably clean foyer when I exclaimed, "Can I get a room here too!" To say that I was impressed during my personalized tour of Grace Point is an understatement. From the moment we walked through the doors, the director Meredith and the entire staff embraced us as family and I knew this would be dad's new safe haven home. Every phone call, every visit, every question and concern is given full and immediate attention by multiple members of the staff and we can all sleep better each night knowing dad is in a clean, safe and beautiful environment with a loving and attentive staff 24 hours a day. What does dad enjoy doing? What will keep dad engaged throughout the day? What soothes dad? Are all top of mind questions that the staff explores daily to help dad build relationships and bring a sense of purpose and joy to dad's days. The director bought dad a mailbox and the staff fills it with mail because they discovered dad looks forward to that! How novel! How thoughtful! The staff at Grace Point has been teaching us more about dad than we knew. He's treated with dignity and as a special individual and we are so grateful to everyone at Grace Point. They've made this very painful and emotional experience with dementia as positive as it could possibly be.
