Nursing Home Communities in Evergreen Park, IL

"This is the cleanest, best smelling residential facility I have ever been in. Add the fact that there are nuns abound and it becomes a perfect, restful, attentive (there were staff on every floor aiding clients, as well as an in house hair salon) place for those to live there restful years in! I would be proud to have my loved one cared for here, and someday even for myself. "

"Evergreen Healthcare Center (The Villa at Evergreen Park) was all on one level, and it was a good place. They had an area where they can rehabilitate people. The people were friendly, and they were OK. It had nice grounds where you could go out, but you do a lot of walking because it's all in one level. It's such a big place. "

"I am currently a guest at the 87th Street Renaissance. I have NO COMPLAINTS! the staff is nice, the food could be better but it is a home for me. I am grateful, out of all the places I could go, my family choose this facility to place me and i'm glad that they did. The staff is nice and warm. "

"It was probably the best it could have been. My mother couldn't complain about the service, and the place was very clean. The nurses were thoughtful, helpful, and kind. My mom was in and out of there before a month and she got where she needed to be. It was scary at first, hearing horror stories of certain homes but we were very blessed "

"I loved Smith Village. The people I talked to were very informative. The place was clean, and I loved all of the activities that they offered. I loved the fact that it offers you everything. If you move in, you probably wouldn’t have to move again. The dining area was gorgeous. It looked like a restaurant. They had an area where you could get snacks and sandwiches, and it was very nice. It was just very awesome."

"This place is horrible! I visited my neighbor and could not believe how this person was living if thats what you can even call it. He was naked and full of feces. His blanket was wet and on the floor. He had no pillow or even any clothes to wear. We asked a nurse to come clean him up and take care of him and she said shed be back and we never saw her again. The rooms have furniture that is falling apart. Closet doors that are broken. Tiles missing in the bathroom and drapes that look like they were never cleaned. Forget trying to call to check on your loved one. No one answers the phone. We got a call stating that he was being taken to the ER and that someone would follow up. Never said why or even what hospital. After waiting 2 hours and no call, we repeatedly tried calling and the phone rings until you are hung up on. We had to call the surrounding hospital ERs to even find out what hospital he was taken to ourselves only to find out he had passed hours ago. The hospital didnt contact us because they were not provided any next of kin information to contact his wife to tell her that he had died! No excuse for this, he was a human being! This place needs to be held accountable for laziness and not caring."

"My mother is in rehab at Southpoint. We haven't had any complaints. Every now and then someone sneaks in her room and takes her chocolate. Other than that, she gets rehab twice a week, and they have a good staff there. They're caring and attentive. I go there a lot when she's having lunch. It's like eating at Denny's. Some of the residents will go up and sing, or they'll bring in people to do some type of entertainment."

"My daughter was recently there for rehabilitation. I would recommend this facility to everyone. It was clean. The staff were very responsive and friendly. She made amazing progress due to their physical therapy. The social worker was very helpful in setting up her after care. Hopefully she will never need to go to a nursing home again but if she does, this is where she would go. However, the food could be better."

"My son is in Oak Lawn Respiratory & Rehab. I chose it because he's self-pay and it was in the budget he could afford. The people are very helpful. They know all of their patients by first name, what they can do, and everything. I just love the interaction they have with their patients. They do not let them lay in bed. He was bedbound, but the day after I put him there, they had him up fully dressed in a wheelchair. They take the footrest off and make them walk in the wheelchair. He's in a room by himself. It's a large room. The only thing is that the facility is not modern. They have old floors and everything, but the care is excellent. The food is excellent because they invited me to have dinner with him one time. He's there for rehab, but he will be released before Thanksgiving. What I want him to do now is to be able to get in and out of bed by himself and to get around easily. The staff is excellent. It's clean. They have all kinds of activities for them. They can go through the whole nursing home while they're there. They're not confined to their room. They can go wherever they want to. When I asked him what time he had to go to bed, he said they don't have a bedtime. They can go to bed when they want to. I know they brought in a movie last week. They have different daily activities. They have ice cream day. They might order out from a restaurant one day. They may have religious people come by and talk to them. They have a calendar, and each day they tell you what the activity for that day is. I think the value is good. They got him some kind of stuff that helps pay some of his bills. The financial department is excellent. As she explained, anything that the patient was entitled to, she would get for him."

"This facility located is located on the south side of chicago. The facility in under new management, and staff appear to be very caring to the residents. The grounds are attractive, and the colors in the building are warm and inviting. The staff greeted me in a warm professional manner upon entering the building. I would rank this facility 4 out of 5 stars. "

"Nice facility.. Very clean. Staff was very friendly and very informative with my mother care. I called daily to get updates about my mothers care. Facility allowed me to visit at any time of the day or night . Definitely would recommend. My mother enjoyed the food they even sent my father daily guest trays to eat with my mother. Nursing department was very attentive whenever my mother needed some help and or assistants, The Rec department made my mother feel at home by doing her nails, taking her outdoors, and bingo. Therapy department worked with my mom daily and got her back walking within 2 months. Very thankful for this place and all that they have done. Bless them all."

"We visited a friend at ManorCare Health Services. The staff were very nice and cordial. They seem to take care of all the patient's needs, and the place was very clean. Their rooms were very nice. Their dining room is very nice as well although we didn’t eat there. It was very easy to get around. I was really impressed with the way that it was so clean, and a lot of nursing homes are really not clean and smelled, but this one didn’t. "

"My mother is in Aperion Care Oak Lawn. I think it's the best place for her right now, she seems to be getting very good care, and she's still getting therapy a couple of times a week. They're gonna be reassessing her to see if hospice is necessary for right now. Since she's been there, it's been good, because we actually get a hold of the nurses when we wanted to get information on her, and actually we could even talk to her. They'll bring the phone to her, and we can talk to her, but we're not sure if she knows us or anything, but at least we can talk to her. I've been very pleased with the nurses there, they seemed to really be taking good care of her. She's a fall risk, so they make sure they take care of her well, they make sure she's strapped into the chair, they even placed mats around the bed because she tends to get up. They watch her a lot. It does seem clean, and as good as any nursing home. It's a smaller place, and I liked that. They're able to give a lot more one-on-one care."
