I visited this facility

I toured Aperion Care Burbank. The director of admissions gave me my tour request. It's a one-floor facility that covers part of the block. The remaining area is a parking lot. It is small compared to the other ones. They have two- and three-person rooms. The place has a large dining hall, residents hang out there and the staff is with them. Laundry is done twice a week. They have a conference room for people who want to discuss the treatment of their family members, and there's a room for visits. The director said that any family member is welcome to tour the facility before admission. The room is large and clean. I didn't see any trash anywhere. The director was excellent in her explanation. She let me review any bathroom I wanted to see, and it was extremely clean. The dining area was medium-size to accommodate the residents that they have there. They have areas where they can lounge and an area where they watch TV if they don't want to watch the ones within their rooms. They have an area for therapy and exercises, but they aren't large as the other facilities.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Aperion Care Burbank was horrible. Some nurses were very rude. They would make me wait, and the CNAs would roll their eyes. I felt that my husband needed to be changed. He had diarrhea, and that's where he got the open sores. Everything is a zero. No activity for my husband. He had pneumonia in that place because they wouldn't turn him, they wouldn't suction him, and they wouldn't do anything. I would tell the nurse he'd vomited, and she would tell me, "OK, I'll put it in the chart." Then my husband had a lot of mucus coming out of his mouth, and so I wiped it, and she said she was going to post it, but she didn't. I confronted her the next day, I said, "I thought you were going to chart it because the nurse before you said that she didn't see anything in the computer." And I had asked her to call the doctor and see if he could give him some cough medicine to stop that coughing, and she never did, because she said that she'd never seen the vomit, and she'd never seen the mucus. I said, "Oh, what was I thinking? I should have grabbed it from the garbage and showed it to you." She really got me upset, and she was very rude. The room was three beds for all three men. There was one gentleman who was on the other side by the window, but nobody took care of him. It's a horrible place. The cleaning wasn't really nice. I would rather have something mediocre and have better service. The atmosphere was horrible. For activities I would see the Mexican lady, and she was really good with the patients there who were in wheelchairs. But other than that, I would rather have a better service, probably because my husband wasn't participating in all that stuff. But those ladies did a great job. I always said, "Thank you. You have a great spirit of helping these people." I would also see them feeding the people that couldn't eat by themselves.

I liked Aperion Care Burbank. It was the best one we found, even though they had three beds in the room. The place looked clean. It was the cleanest one. Our issue is that we wanted my friend to have a private room. It is a nursing home and rehab. The staff was very good and very cordial. They gave the tour and answered questions that I had. They were tending to the residents. There were three residents per room, and they had their own TVs, closets, and bedside tables. The whole place was clean. One thing I liked about them is that they have the residents get out of their rooms to go to the cafeteria area. They take them outside for walks. They don't let them lay in bed all day like some of these places do. They get them up and out. They have activities for those that are able to do the activities. They have an activity room. They have a room with a bike and treadmill. There are also small things they can do with their arms, if they're able to do so. A lot of them are in wheelchairs. My friend is in a wheelchair, too. When I went there, they were kind of congregated in the cafeteria area. They were just doing their thing. They were eating. They had a gathering, and nobody was in their rooms. They were all outside, and their beds were made up. It was clean. They have a schedule of what they get for their meals every day. My friend is diabetic, and the staff said they have alternatives to the meal plan. If somebody doesn't like this or that, there are some alternatives to the meals that they give them. There is some construction going on right now on both sides of their street. It is easy to get to, and they have parking. The grounds are cared for and manicured. The only drawback is we were trying to find a private room for her, but they have three beds in there. The staff told me that when they bring the residents in, they put them in a room by themselves so they can evaluate what their temperament is. They try to put them in a room with somebody that compares to their personality, which I thought was a good thing.

Nice facility.. Very clean. Staff was very friendly and very informative with my mother care. I called daily to get updates about my mothers care. Facility allowed me to visit at any time of the day or night . Definitely would recommend. My mother enjoyed the food they even sent my father daily guest trays to eat with my mother. Nursing department was very attentive whenever my mother needed some help and or assistants, The Rec department made my mother feel at home by doing her nails, taking her outdoors, and bingo. Therapy department worked with my mom daily and got her back walking within 2 months. Very thankful for this place and all that they have done. Bless them all.

Aperion is just a one-floor place. The staff members were OK, but there was a shortage. The meal was brought to the residents, or they had a cafeteria area that residents can go into. Each person had his/her own TV that was provided by the place. They tried to have activities for them there. They have some church services based on volunteer churches that go in. When I went there, there was an activity going on and those that participated seemed to enjoy it. I went there mainly to see if it would be a good fit for my sister. They did not have any openings. If they had, I probably would have moved my sister there.
