"Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was great. The residents were involved in what was happening at the time. The facility was very nice. I liked how everybody was in their own little sections. It's a nice facility. It is not huge. So I think that my father would get a little bit more one-on-one just because they can see out and be able to get to see all the people. The staff was good. They were taking very good care of the residents and they were very enthusiastic."

"Brookdale Orland Park is nice, and a bit larger than other places. But I'd like a much smaller community for my mother because I think they're more hands on, and she'd get more attention there. The staff was accommodating, and gave me a lot of attention. I've seen their activities virtually, not in person because the weather is chilly so they haven't been doing much on the outside. Before, they would come out and get a little air or whatever they choose to do, like visit or look at some magazines. But now, as far as activities, they haven't been doing too much. From my understanding, they prepare meals on a daily basis. The place itself looked and smelled very good."

"I chose Victory Centre of Roseland for my aunt because I just fell in love with it. It is very welcoming and pleasant. Every employee that I came across was very nice. Now that my aunt is there, they are so helpful with her. I'm so happy she's getting around OK. She loves them. She told me how everybody is so nice to her and how they speak to her. They call her by her name, and that is important to her. The place is lovely and just friendly. She is doing well going to the dining room. She is loving it because it is so close by. The moment she steps off the elevator, the dining room is right there. Her apartment is not far from the elevators, too. It's just so convenient. They do movies, and they have a salon. They have just been really helpful."

"Sunrise of Flossmoor was really beautiful, but they just didn’t have an opening. What I liked about it was they had -- at least -- 4 aides. They did not use CNA’s, but they used aides and call them case managers. They help the patients with their showers and dressing if they need it. They have a kitchen area where they dine, and they can participate if that is what they like to such as help cook, but they cook the meals for them. They have rooms that are set up as private rooms or what they consider studios, and one-bedrooms, and then they also have companion rooms where 2 residents will share the same room, and the room was divided by a bathroom that sits in the middle. Then they had a sink area if they wanted to, which was more like a little kitchenette area. They had a refrigerator but didn’t have a stove. I do know that they were having activities when I was there. They were reading a book to them about something, and that was the only activity that I saw for the day, but they do more activities than just that. They have some set up like a typewriter, or it might have been a secretary, and if they wanted to try to type, they can just put their things on the typewriter. They have baby dolls like if somebody might go back into the mode of when they first had their baby. They also had craft things where they can pull them up the drawer and make things. "

"We placed my mother-in-law in Sunrise Villa Olympia Fields. It was very good, and the staff was very helpful, kind, and understanding. The atmosphere is excellent, it had lots of socialization, and her room is spotless. Everything was brand-new, they put new carpeting in, the room was freshly painted, and they say they do that for every new person that comes in. It's very up-to-date. She moved in May 1st. They have a lot of activities that are very doable, they have activities purposeful for their age group, and not above them. The dining area was very nice, welcoming, and the staff was very friendly."

"My husband moved in to memory care at Evergreen Senior Living - Orland Park. The place is very clean, nice, well-designed and decorated and comfortable. The staff is taking care of his needs. The dining area is very clean and bright. They vary the activities and they have a full calendar with things that they do. They pretty well try to keep them occupied most of the day. They have a lot of activities ranging from exercises, to art projects, to games. My husband's room is very nice and spacious enough. It's fairly bright and it faces east so it's got a nice morning light coming in."

"My mother has moved into Victorian Village. It's very clean and well organized. The food is good. The staff is very good. They have a little dining hall and a little get-together place out in front of the building. They have physical therapy, they do Bingo and Wii bowling, and they have a bus that will take them shopping. They had a Christmas party last week, and they had kids come in from different high schools and did musicals."

"I could have gone to Marian Village. The only drawback is you have to buy into it. You have to put down $130,000 or something to move in, but that was a very nice facility. The rooms were accommodating and very nice. They had bay windows in the front rooms. I told them I could move in there because it was so nice. The atmosphere was good."

"What I like most about Victory Centre of South Chicago was that it was close, and all of the people had pleasant personalities. One thing I did not like was the room. It was big, and you have to furnish it yourself. It is nice for those who live south. It is a perfect place. "

"Franciscan Village was very nice. It was clean and organized. They have two buildings, but they separate them into three. I saw all of them, but we took my mom for a tour only in building three. It had a very pretty chapel. It was peaceful. They were renovating the room that was available at that time, but it looked very nice. They had a salon. We saw the dining room and looked at the menu. I only met the receptionist there and I think it was Christine that showed us around. She was very helpful and very nice."

"My mom is in Cantata Adult Life Services. Overall, we are satisfied with them. There were some concerns, but when I told them what we expected, they took it very well. They have assisted living also. We originally went to look at an apartment, but in the interim, she had a stroke, so she is in the skilled care part. She is in rehab because she has all kinds of issues, and they are one of the few places that do that rehab. They are very compassionate. It is a very small facility, which is nice. They have a good staff-to-patient ratio. We've had several meals there. My mom does not like the food, but my sister and I think it is perfectly fine. My mother is used to her own cooking. They have a tremendous rehab staff. They are excellent. "

"A wonderful concept of providing care. Instead of being an institutional environment, it is a comfortable single-family home that has been designed for this purpose. My grandmother loved the fact that she lived in a single family home, with three other residents, while getting all the help that she needed. I would recommend Golden Age to anyone who is looking for a place that offers assisted living. Like they claim...at Golden Age you don't live in a home, you live at home."

"My mother-in-law has moved into American House Oak Park. She's getting assisted living. I like the fact that they keep her busy. They have different activities. She's met quite a few of the residents. They have an exercise class. They have a reading club they do together where they all read the same book and they discuss it. They have a Bible study. They do quite a few things. She's in a one-room apartment, and she has a refrigerator and she doesn't have a stove. She has a refrigerator and a microwave, just the essentials right there in her kitchen. She's got an area where her bed is. She's got a nice big walk-in closet. The bathroom is nice. The bathroom has a roll-in shower where if she was on a walker, she could just roll the walker into the shower and it's a big bathroom. It's got a shower, a toilet, and a sink with the vanity. There's plenty of room. If someone was in a wheelchair, they could maneuver in the bathroom. There's plenty of room to do what they need to do and roll it in and out of the shower. She likes some of the food. She's picky. There are some things she likes and some things she doesn't like. They play games. She loves the different activities. It's more expensive than some of the other ones. They'll take them on the bus, and then they'll take the residents to different outside activities, so they can get out of the building."
