"The staff at Tinley Court was very, very accommodating, very knowledgeable, very friendly, and warm. They showed us the one-bedroom and studio units they had and they were all very spacious. The one-bedroom was the one that we fell in love with. You can eat off the floor because it was just that clean. They also let us know all the activities that were offered there. Some of the activities were going on as we were touring."

"Everything was gorgeous there at Bickford of Tinley Park. I liked the scenery and the rooms. They had respite, but they can't guarantee me a room because they only have one room for respite. That's the only thing I didn't like about them. You put a downpayment, but it's not a guarantee whether you can get it or not. The staff was very professional and let me talk to the nurse on-staff. They have a library, a dining room, and a living room. Everything was just the best. They have a lot of accommodation in the bathroom, and they have housekeeping. They have a beauty salon, a recreation room, a dining room, a living room, and computers. Everything was real beautiful. The staff always contacts me, talks to me, and lets me know what is going on."

"We put my mom in Evergreen Senior Living - Orland Park for two weeks. They gave her her medicine, they took her down to her food, and they laid out her clothes for her. They had activities there. They had a Hawaiian evening. The first two weeks, we kind of spent a lot of time with her. We were keeping my mom more active than them. It's our first time putting her in an assisted living place. Everyone was kind of worried, so we wanted to make sure she was good, so we kind of spent a lot of time with her and took turns going and coming. The staff were very understanding, very caring, and very nice. There's nothing negative I can say about them. It's all positive. Of all the facilities I visited, they have the best room. It's a 700-square-foot room. It has a walk-in closet, a big bathroom, a big shower and bathtub, a little kitchen area, and a little dining area. It's the most spacious room in any facility, I think. It's new, so that was kind of encouraging for us. I was able to put a queen-sized bed in there for my mom, and it fit perfectly. Their food was super. They'll take her down to eat, or they'll bring her food to eat. And if she didn't like it, they'll bring her something different. They were like really, really nice and easygoing. There are always snacks out, there's always coffee out, there's always cookies, soft drinks, and water. They always have those available for them. "

"Sunrise of Willowbrook was very nice, very comfortable feeling, very well lit, and it seems like a happier location than some of the other places I've seen that were kind of darker and more dismal. The staff was very helpful and very nice. At any place I've been to, I've not been disappointed in the helpfulness and the courtesy of anyone who shows us the place. They're always accommodating. They had plenty of activities."

"A wonderful concept of providing care. Instead of being an institutional environment, it is a comfortable single-family home that has been designed for this purpose. My grandmother loved the fact that she lived in a single family home, with three other residents, while getting all the help that she needed. I would recommend Golden Age to anyone who is looking for a place that offers assisted living. Like they claim...at Golden Age you don't live in a home, you live at home."

"We like it. The place was new, nice, and clean. They offered lots of things. It's out on a major street, but that's OK. They don't have much grounds though. The rooms were nice."

"My friend's parents and my neighbor were at Victory Centre of Sierra Ridge. My friend's parents were in the assisted living, and it was very nice. The staff was good. They checked on them every day for medication reminders and all that kind of stuff. They had nice amenities there. They had a beauty salon and a game room. Their dining room was nice. They had parking for the seniors. I had another neighbor who was there, but she was on the independent side. And she liked it too. The staff was pretty nice. It was very clean. With regard to activities, they had all kinds of programs for the seniors there."

"We toured Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest. The tour was nice. It has everything we need. They introduced me to some of the workers there. We got to see what the room would look like. We walked and she showed me the path where they had breakfast. She showed me the menu, the kitchen, and the bathroom in the room, but they have a specific place for them to shower in a step-in tub, and the laundry room. The director's assistant was good. The one thing I liked was the bus stop because my dad did think he was out there waiting for a bus. So they fixed up a spot and made it look like a bus stop. They got the benches and the stand and everything. It was cute. They have a salon/barber, who comes in every two weeks. She said that they go to the movies and they go out to dinner. They do have a room where they can sit around, read magazines, and talk. Some of them like to go outside and just sit and talk cause they do have patios. It was clean and it didn't smell."

"Cantata is the new name for what had previously been the British Home and apparently its name was changed just a few weeks ago. I was told that the name change is an attempt to overhaul the stuffy image associated with the British Home. The word "Cantata" is derived from the Italian word "cantare" which means "to sing" and the name change is meant to convey a kind of new age composition of voices to care for the elderly. To my mind I never had that image of the British Home as being stodgy. I used to go biking along the bike trail just outside the home and I was more curious than anything. I had always associated the Home with Brookfield Zoo which is practically in its backyard. Nevertheless I can appreciate what the nursing home is trying to do in recreating its image. I would recommend this assisted living facility based on its cleanliness, the amount of light exposure from its modern windows and an ample size health center that also allows membership from the community. Indeed on the day that I visited I saw some very energetic seniors on bikes and tread mills and I was very impressed. These folks were trying to live life to its fullness! That along with the light streaming from the floor to ceiling windows in the lobby and throughout sold me. Like any place that you are deciding to live there are pros and cons. Another positive is the proximity to medical staff that are housed at the facility. The thing that I did not like about the facility was the rather nondescript furnishings (the chairs and tables throughout). The sitting rooms just didn't seem like a place I could relax, but that could just be my own taste. The dining room I thought was pretty generic (except for the windows). The menu did not impress me, but I will say that I did get a whiff of what smelled like peach cobbler and that was fantastic. I was told that meal preparation had been taken over by new management recently. I also did not care for the individual apartments, especially the carpet which was dark and seemed institutional. I will say that the facility was clean and smelled good. The receptionist and customer relations specialist were very nice and helpful. Overall I would recommend Cantata and this may be a great time to move here not only because of its name change, but the kind of upbeat image it is trying to promote. "

"We toured here and liked it since it had what I think we could probably use someday. The staff who accommodated me was Renee, and she did a good job. The units were small apartments. There were a variety of apartments. The building is five years old. They were on top of the list."

"We have chosen StoryPoint Romeoville. I was impressed with the size of the building. And then they had the memory card right across from it, so that's how big the place was. The upkeep was excellent. It was clean and nothing was out of place. The staff was very friendly. We were treated very nicely. We had two free meals there. The restaurant was very good; the food was good. They had a menu with three items and my wife mentioned she didn't care for anything. A lady brought out a menu that they have every day that had about eight items on it (like hamburgers and cheeseburgers), and she said, 'You can get these anytime.' It's almost reminiscent of the amount of food you get on a cruise ship. For activities, they have game rooms, play bingo, and take trips to the stores. The place is brand new. The whole place has been remodeled."

"My brother moved in. Their community is great. Everyone is friendly, from the staff to the residents. The nurses, CNAs, and everyone are just fantastic. He's got a nice room. It's a nice size for him, but I wish it were a little bit bigger (I guess that's just me). I would prefer that it were a little bit bigger and that it had more of a kitchen-type layout. It has a cabinet area and a countertop, and he can put his microwave there, but I wish there was a sink where he can wash some little dishes if he has some. Overall, it's still a nice room. He has been participating in some of their activities. I know he plays bingo, and then they've had movie nights (he goes to that). They have little events sometimes, and they have one coming up soon at the end of this month on the 26th. They are going to have an event where families can come and stuff like that, which is good. I don't think he likes the food. He's picky. He wants to eat what he wants to eat. He is diabetic too, so he doesn't care for the food. He has no choice, though, but I think it's delicious. Not that I've eaten any, but I can tell when the cook/the chef puts it out, it looks good and smells good to me. I know that there are other elderly people there who have to be cared for and can't control themselves. They have to go to the bathroom and stuff like that, and so it feels like every time I'm walking to go down to my brother's hall to go to his room, it reeks of urine. You can just smell it, and I don't know if that's because they haven't cleaned, or maybe when I come, there's nobody there to clean it. During the week, I couldn't smell it, but definitely when I go on Saturday mornings or Sunday, I can smell it as soon as I come in the door."
