"My mother has severe Alzheimers and has been residing at the Self Help home for the past 4 years.She entered with only mild dementia and living independently until she became more and more impaired. Her 85th birthday is in a few weeks , and although she doesnt appear to know who we are anymore. at least shes around to celebrate it. Self Help home has made us,her family, feel safe .My mom has had excellent care there all these years , and the administration and staff there have been very warm and nurturing throughout these very difficult years. Mom cant do anything for herself anymore , but is well-taken care of, and we know this excellent standard of care will continue as long as she is there. "

"The biggest selling point of GreenFields of Geneva for us was that it has a life plan, so my sister can stay there the rest of her life. She moved there a week ago, and she's in assisted living. Everyone there is very polite. The place is very clean, and the food smells wonderful. I'm very pleased. The staff is very helpful. They answer any questions that I have, and they seem to know what they're talking about. I haven't tasted the food, but it looks wonderful. It smells delicious, and everyone says it's very good. My sister is in quarantine right now because she came from another nursing home; she's not able to go down. They do bring her food up, and she's been very happy with it. Her room is clean and big enough. Her furniture fits well there, and she has a nice view outside. I've looked at several places and GreenFields is comparable or better than some of the other places that I looked at."

"My wife is at Victorian Village Health and Wellness Center. It is a friendly place with caring people. My wife likes the food there. The staff is very caring. It's like they're one of the families. It is a nice place to be, and it is very clean. The room sizes are decent, and the layouts are OK. The dining area is wide open and quite large. They are all friendly, and they take good care of the people that are there."

"Holy Family is lovely, very well kept, very clean, and very calming. It is a Roman Catholic facility, but they will take any denomination. I know a lot of my friends will go there. "

"I came to this place for therapy for my hip. I was in and out in 2 weeks and couldn't be more pleased. The menu is wonderful, and they gave me anything I asked for. The nurses and aides were so nice and helpful. Everyone there is so friendly and willing to do whatever needs to be done. There were a lot of folks there for therapy, and we were all very pleased with the services we received. I would highly recommend this place. "

"My mom was here maybe for about a month. They have a lot of things to do, and it has been a great experience for my mom."

"I toured Alden Estates of Orland Park. The people were very friendly. The patients' rooms looked good, nice, and clean. They were taking care of the patients very well. They have activities going on in different ministries. They have physical therapy. Some of the patients could eat in their rooms. If they have gas, they have particular places where you could take your gas and be somewhat in a private area. They also had an eating place for the residents who lived there. The staff were friendly. Everybody that I met, or the staff as I was walking through, were very intensive and very friendly."

"Mom entered Rehab at Smith Crossing in October 2019 after becoming disabled. She flourished but then due to age related issues was moved into Assisted living where she stayed until her passing on March 18,2020. Her care during her entire stay was like having an additional 100 + family members! The entire staff from RN's to CA's were kind, courteous and simply loving. The beauty, cleanliness & care of the outside/inside of the facility was only surpassed by the beauty of the care mom received by the staff. I visited mom everyday and saw the love & kindness she received from all."

"My step-father is in ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation - Palos Heights West. The place was good and clean, and the rooms were a pretty good size. The services are good, I'd like to see them do more with him. He's currently in the rehab department and they've been working with him while he's waiting for the room upstairs. He's been up, dressed, and cleaned, so that's a good sign. They offer things like bingo and card games, they have a pastor come in, and other different things like that for the residents. They have an activity room, a gym area, they have a barber shop, and shower rooms. The food is okay, although it could be improved a little. The staff is shorthanded always so they need more staff."

"My mother was a resident in Arcadia in ManorCare East for almost 4 years. While the facility itself could be upgraded/renovated, the staff were excellent. They were very loving and kind to my mother and treated her with dignity and respect. My mother was happy to be there and thrived there. "

"My mom was at Spring Creek for some rehab. They treated her well. She was there for about 3 months. I never really got past the conference room because it's COVID times. I couldn't do anything but meet with her there. From there, it looked very clean. The caregivers were very caring. She got to know some of them and was treated well. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. They provided basic care, I guess, but I don't know everything they did. They took care of her and every time there was anything that needed to be discussed, I was able to reach somebody. I've spoken with a nurse there several times. I just can't remember his name, but he was very nice. We were able to do a window visit a few times and that was helpful. For me, the location was convenient because it's on the east side of Joliet. It's also probably a convenient location for that facility to be at and it's good for me because I live in town."

"My mother is in rehab now at BRIA of Palos Hills. It's very nice. I had to give a compliment to one of the nurses that were there. Even though my mom has been there for almost six weeks, they've been doing a very good job, and I told them that. They're very nice. The rooms are nice. The nurses are nice. I rate them very well. Full five stars. Very nice facility. They have an activity room, my mother hasn't made it there yet, but where they do arts and crafts, where they have popcorn socials, and where they make things, that's nice too. The rehab facility where the physical therapists work with you at, that's nice and clean. That's in front of a building. The floors are nice. They have a conference room and a dining area. The food looks good. My mother is up in age; she's 93. She suffered a stroke, so we are trying to get her taste buds back. She says she doesn't like it, but I don't see anything wrong with it. But her taste buds are gone, so I'm just trying to get her to eat. She had a stroke, and when she went in, she wasn't talking, and she slept all the time. But now they got her up, and she's talking. She hasn't walked yet, but she is moving around and holding a conversation. She's doing pretty good. The rooms are clean. The housekeeping comes and they maintain the room. The facility doesn't have a smell to it. They change the sheets, and they keep her dressed. I would recommend it. The place is well-kept. They comply with the COVID-19 protocol. You come in there with a mask. If you don't have one, they give you one. You wipe your hands, and then you go visit the patient or whatever. You can come out and talk to the nurse. You can communicate with them, and they communicate with you. The speech pathologist, the physical therapist, and the occupational therapist, all communicate with you and tell you about how your loved one is doing, or if they need some more help, they'll let you know. The rooms are very nice."

"My mom stayed at Elevate Care Palos Heights, and I loved it. It's pretty large, and the nurses were so caring on top of taking care of my mother, joking with her, and making her laugh. They interact. They work hard. They have a room where they do crafts, and my mother was doing physical therapy. The first day that I went to visit my mother, they were fixing the women's hair. I thought, oh, my God, that is so nice. They had blow dryers and curling irons and all that, fixing up the hair so they could make them feel good. It was worth it because it was close to my house."

"This facility is not equipped to handle patients with dementia. They don't offer extra care with this type of patient. This facility is definitely not equipped to care for patients who require extra assistance. My father was there and he couldn't walk anymore AND somehow his hip was dislocated. Still trying to find out how that happened. Either he fell or a staff member was a bit heavy handed moving him. At best this facility is for people who can care for themselves and do not have any medical mental issues. The rooms could be brighter. They have a new wing but its for short term recovery. If the rest of the facility could be updated to match would be great. I recommend to continue to visit their own doctor. Transportation can be provided. It was very difficult to get in touch with the doctor for the facility. Fortunately the nurse assisted with trying to reach the doctor to let him know the family would like to have a conference with him. He never called us back. He only reached out to the nurse that paged him to relay a message. In the room the lightbulb went out and it took a couple of weeks to get the light replaced. The only reason I gave it the rating I did is because there were some great people on staff who went the extra mile to assist and advise on how to get results when needed. This includes the nurses, CNAs, receptionist and maintenance. If you go for a tour make sure you get clarification on which wing your family member will reside in. "
